I just created a thread where I used the word "Golden opportunity" which led me to a though that is we crypto enthusiast should start using the words as "Bitcoinish opportunity" or "bitcoin opportunity" right?

I think we need to upgrade our vocabulary as and when there is a change. Like crypto enthus value bitcoin more than gold then why golden opportunity. What do you think?

I guess this topic about using such terminology is not quite necessary. It does not concern on bitcoin and has no impact on bitcoin itself. But if we are going to create some terminologies then let us just do whatever we want to use. Let us allow people to use their creativity when they talk about bitcoin except on technical aspects. Bitcoin is decentralized and that is why even in using terms to describe bitcoin there should be no standard but free minds.

@Mandoy I would say it has an impact. The flow of the terminology may hit the ears of people who are not yet exposed to bitcoin yet. I would say for those how are still living in dark. They will share and read about Bitcoin. This publicity might not be a requirement for Bitcoin as it is way more strong by it technology but, it can help blowing the bulbs of those who are still unaware.

Don't you think so?

I think this is not the case what we say, Many people all around the world know about Bitcoin. What we have to do as a crypto community, is to spread information about Bitcoin through every platform. Tell people why they need  Bitcoin, how can it change people's living. Show people solid facts about why Bitcoin is important. What words or titles you use to do this Doesn't matter.

I like the idea, although it will be very hard to make that a reality.

There's literally hundreds of years of tradition that makes people say "golden opportunity", "gold standard" and things like that.

Even after dozens of years in the fiat world, that hasn't changed to "dollar opportunity", so if we ever see that change, I figure it will be hundreds of years from now.

Sooner or later you'll be hearing that, Bitcoin memes are all over is the sign of what you just said.
The thing we don't hear this YET i that it's not mas adopted yet, remember that like fraction of the % of people of this universe know about Bitcoin. So it will take time till we hear that " BitCoinIsh Opportunity "

I think what you are trying to say is a separate terminology for bitcoin alone. On a larger scale, I think some crypto terms have covered that. Terms like bullish and bearish has been doing that and if you actually talk about separate, that will be when the market is regulated, perhaps such can happen.
Just like in forex trade, we have Gbp/Jpy (dragon), GBP/Usd cable etc.

There are comments mentioning that this "will take time". Change comes over time right. Starting of use of such words would be the first step.

If the launch of bitcoin in 2009 had thought that it will take time for adoption then god know this crypto world existed today or not.

Well, terminologies or words that can be used in the crypto world can be possible just like what happen here in the forum when a user made a typo error instead of using Hold he then scrumble his letter to make it Hodl and people made popularity out from it and by saying Golden Opportunity the word is too long, in my opinion, we can sure make it to "GoldTunity" Or Bitcoin Opportunity to "BitTunity" a mumbling jumbling words can make a change that you like But it is up to the Enthusiast if it will be popular enough to make history like the word Hodl or Hodling Did.

It might be a bit too early for that. After all, there are still so many people that have never even heard of cryptocurrencies, bitcoin, or anything. Awareness and adoption first, and the vocabulary will evolve on its own, no need to rush it and force it.

Enthusiasm for value of bitcoin? is this about price? if it were about prices people would definitely say "golden opportunity" because gold has more stable volatility than bitcoin. And on other hand terminology has been around for a long time, even this has become a basic term. While bitcoin still does not have a name that is popular enough to dominate world market share so it is still not possible to change the term golden opportunity to bitcoin opportunity.

Why don't we hear about a Lambo opportunity? Cheesy
The luster of gold is still so bright because it is still the standard when representing money, which is the most precious thing of the human kingdom, so when talking about the opportunity, we are talking about the highest standard, so we call it the golden opportunity.

Remember the gold standard was separated in 1971, we need some time to update the concepts.

While Bitcoin will be known in the future as more solid (price) and better valued than gold, linguistically i think it has no chance. "Bitcoinish" is too convoluted a word, hard to pronounce compared to gold and golden.

There are some other metals better than gold (in price/scarcity) out there, but people keep coming back to use the gold word.

And if you say "Bitcoin opportunity", people will be expecting to at least earn bitcoin from it.

I am sorry to say that terminology is not a sexy one and it is not so sweet to attract people to bitcoin community, even if we use it from now till tomorrow, people are already used to the word opportunity, even someone selling pant on the road side in my country will tell you pant opportunity, so this to me is not really what should be focused on for now, anything that is related to adoption is all we need to be discussing at any moment from now.

We need adoption to retain the cryptocurrency space; it is adoption that will bring about those opportunities that you see is available in the usage and adoption of bitcoin. If you are looking for terminologies, look for terminologies that will encourage merchants for various commodities to start accepting bitcoin, and terminology that will encourage users too to start using bitcoin for their purchases.

Whatever you want to call it is fine as long as you would explain it for other people to understand. Then it's up to them if they're going to adapt it or not. Though I don't really understand and know what you're pertaining to "Golden Opportunity" since I haven't seen the thread you created, terms don't have to be discussed or planned in crypto, it would just came up and will be a mainstream just like any other words we use in day to day conversation.

You can't artificially change the language, new words enter our use spontaneously, just because they make sense. Gold has been associated with wealth for thousands of years, but Bitcoin is still unknown to many people, so saying something like "Bitcoinish opportunity" will make people look at you like you're some weirdo.

Gold exits physically thus we can see its colour and name it but, Bitcoin is not the same right. So, I did not get your point of view.

I think the reference to a "golden opportunity" harks back to the days when gold was used for ornamentation, and was a display of wealth. Bitcoin doesn't really lend itself to this. Bitcoin is much more of a subtle investment, rather like the Savile Row tailors who put their labels inside the inner pocket of a jacket, so that they are not on display.

No offense sir okay, I don't get the catch of your thread topic here neither the hints also.
Just all I understand but not sure is that Bitcoin was one of the good opportunity to all people who will
discover it. And whatever you want to emphasize here, just make sure every member in the forum
can get the point of what you are trying to share.
