So lets say your fav club is about playing against a tougher club which on paper they're far better than your club but in your inner most mind you want your club to win therefore, when it comes to placing a bet, which club will you go far. Will you risk losing the bet to back your team winning that match, when you know the chances of them succeeding are almost impossible but since it's football anything is possible or will you bet against you club winning that match but while the match is ongoing you'll be routing for your club to win (in other words routing for yourself to lose your bet)?

If you are betting for fun then you can go ahead and bet for your favorite club against the favorite to win, but if you are not comfortable betting against your team then don't do it all, there will be times when your favorite team will be up against a weaker team and that is the best opportunity to bet for your team and cheer at the same time.
Don't betray yourself and your team just because of money if you are very loyal to your team, if they find out they will think your support is not all out.

Oh this is actually tough... It actually depends if the gap between my favorite team and the opposing team is significantly large then I might consider betting on the latter.

To give you an actual example, in Dota 2, I used to love this specific team and I bet most of my resources in every game that they have. Despite having their roster change making them relatively weaker than their original form, I still bet on the team. But there was one instance where the stakes and gap were really large (at that time they were the number 7 team vs the number 1 team), so I did not hesitate to vote on the latter.

Well, in business world, patronizing quality and expensive essential products instead of the cheap and poorly made ones is not really betrayal. It'd still be difficult to patronize the poorly made ones even if your favorite company is making them. I guess this should be  the mindset of a good gambler. In sports betting I dont have favorite team so everytime I place my bet im looking for the odds on which is likely to win the game. But in this situation if ever I have to choose between my favorite team and the stronger one I think I have to set aside my emotions. Support your favorite club but place your bet on the other club that you think that is going to win, simple as that. Your favorite club won't give you any money either they win or lose, it is all on you, so choose which club or team that has the potential to win, it is all about being practical. Balance your wants and needs, you want to cheer you favorite team but bet on the team that will help you to earn money because you need it, we all need money.

Emotions have always been harmful in business no matter which business it is. People who mix their emotions of greed & fear with their gambling often end up losing everything. May it be trading, may it be gambling or may it be any other business emotions make you lose a lot of money. So, now it comes to favoritism. Basically best thing to do when your favorite club is playing is not to gamble at all. because you will always be inclined towards your favourites no matter how bad your team looks on paper. Infact in every scenario related to money whenever emotions begin to kick in try to drop the whole decision.

You are totally right my buddy when you think you are ready to face what is wrong gona happen unfortunately then you can gamble again but I guess it’s worst thing is to let your emotions effect your earning from gambling. I don't see a point in risking your money on the team which you already know that would lose the fight?
You are betting to gain money and your club should also know about it since you also know that the opponent have a greater chance of winning so it shouldn't hurt their feelings.
Back when DOTA 1 was so popular and it is being used to gamble my friends would also try to win some but if I know that their opponent is much stronger then I would just bet my money on the opponent,
It shouldn't really be a problem unless you are also playing in the game.

I don't think any loyal fan will ever play against his team no matter the desperation for money that is in them, That would be considered the height of betrayal and definitely desperation of highest order. I found myself in this kind of situation some time ago and I knew right there that  my team had very little chances of winning that game.

I truly needed to make money on that day so desperately and I had no choice than to play in favor of my team and stand the risk of losing my money, But as God would have it,  we miraculously won that game and that was how I got back my money with profit. I could only imagine how I would be looked at on that day If I betrayed my team or backed off out of fear.

I believe also in a soccer match for example, everything can happen in the field. But the fact is it's hard to happen, a great team will win and a weak team will lose.
