Surplus Trezor One Hardware Wallet - Make an Offer

So I have an almost new white Trezor One hardware wallet for sale - Its been sitting around for almost a year as I purchased it at the same time as the Trezor Model T thinking I'd use both. Never ended up happening and its just been collecting dust. Make me an offer in crypto and we'll see what we can do to make a deal.

I would be extremely cautious about buying a Trezor, or any BTC storage device that is second-hand. Whether or not it appears to be sealed properly, or seems like authentic hardware I would always have that nagging feeling in the back of my head.

Normally, if you're going to be buying something like this from anywhere other than the manufacturer you should expect to use it for novelty purposes or not be surprised when it is compromised.

My 62 year old memory is decent but I am not sure you can re set the seed. If you can not set a new seed it is an open book 📖 in terms of security.

Your recovery seed is the essential record of your Trezor device. Without the recovery seed, you will not be able to recover your Trezor Wallet in the event that your Trezor device is wiped out, lost, or damaged. You should never update your Trezor device's firmware without your recovery seed.

You have one Trezor device available with access to your accounts
If you lost your recovery seed, but still have access to your Trezor Wallet, you should move your funds elsewhere immediately. You can then wipe the Trezor device and create a new Trezor Wallet with a new recovery seed.

It is recommended to have a spare Trezor device for situations like these. If you have time to do so, order the second Trezor device from Trezor shop. When your new device arrives, continue with the steps outlined in You have multiple Trezor devices available

If there is a time constraint, consider taking these steps:

Send your cryptocurrencies to a third-party compatible wallet.
Wipe the device.
Initialize your device again. Continue with creating the back-up for this wallet by carefully writing down the recovery seed offline.
Generate the necessary receiving address(es).
Transfer the cryptocurrencies from the third-party wallets to your newly backed-up Trezor wallet.

I would NEVER buy a 2nd hand hardware wallet, you are just asking for trouble.

It's not as hard as you might think to mess with the actual hardware for the worse.

Is it really worth trying to save a few bucks on something like this, or gamble that chance to lose unimaginable amounts?

I would NEVER buy a 2nd hand hardware wallet, you are just asking for trouble.

It's not as hard as you might think to mess with the actual hardware for the worse.

Do you have any evidence that the trezor once reset can be attacked?

If you have evidence the a trezor can be compromised and that a re set seed is not protective please link it.

I do agree that buying a trezor not sealed is risky. I also agree that a trezor from trezor directly is the way to go.

I would love to know if trezor counterfeits are around. Have not heard of it.

I know you can do a seed dump if you have hands on the key.
Once you do that you would be able to attack the password.

But I never heard of counterfeit one. I also never heard of a seed being compromised other then hands on with the trezor. Or selling a opened one where you know the seed.

I definitely wouldn't connect any USB device I don't know the provenance of to a computer that is used with BTC or my personal data. Feel free to call me paranoid but I don't even use USB cables if I don't trust the supply chain because they can be compromised. (Soon, you'll be able to buy a compromised USB cable for like $50: https://shop.hak5.org/products/o-mg-cable )

Ultimately, it's up to the buyer. If you think the risk is worth the possibility of saving a few bucks, go right ahead.
