On Monday, cryptocurrency advocates shared a video on Twitter which shows a large fire destroying a warehouse filled with bitcoin mining rigs. The first video was shared at 10 a.m. by early bitcoin miner Marshall Long who tweeted:
“[This] big datacenter from Innosilicon just went nuclear — Dovey Wan did you see this?” A few hours later, the founding partner at crypto asset holding company Primitive Ventures, Dovey Wan, also shared a longer video of the fire in China. Wan stated:
As [Marshall Long] already broke it, here is the real footage of a local mega farm caught on fire —

That’s a disaster, I hope they’re insured & if they are then I hope it was an insurance job or something because that kind of monetary loss to any business is terminal.

Damn that owner of mega mining farm is heart shattered as he watches all of his hardwork and invested time build that huge rig is slowly burning it's painful to watch and also, i think it might affect the hashrate of bitcoin since that is huge rig i think it had some huge (supposedly) share from the network. i hope that he was insured so, that if not all some of his invest can be returned.

This is a disaster to say the least and there is no word that can console the owners of the invested assets that have gone up the flame but really disasters are not something to be avoided, they need to be prepared for which is the reason why we have insurance companies ready to augment losses such as this. So, if the business owners have made the right decision by insuring all of those assets, then there is nothing to worry about because the cost is ready to be borne by someone else. Just sit back and relax, fill the necessary paper works and they will be back on their feet in no distant time.

This is the Tweet ----> https://twitter.com/OGBTC/status/1178672341225738240
Frankly, I doubt the credibility of these images and I think they date back to 2014 ----> Gallery: Fire Destroys Thai Bitcoin Mining Facility

Note Not many details are available.

Generally, if there is a loss, it is Marshall Long's fault that he has not taken the necessary protection measures.

Well, not to be judgemental and I am not mocking the disaster but don't you think the picture of flames look too fake to be trusted? I mean it just looks like a normal warehouse of mining rigs to me with a few flames edited on the picture. But if it is really an accident then this is a huge loss of hardware and I hope both the warehouse and the sub-sequential losses are covered under the policy.

I don’t trust news.bitcoin.com. So I check the authenticity of the news from that site to make sure it is real.

Now this somewhat looks a real picture of the warehouse with a few signs of fire.

Some employee is getting fired. Cheesy

Correct me if I'm wrong but fire suppression systems used to be a standard thing in data centers and mining farms for many years. Who builds a 10 million dollar mining farm and forgets to install fire alarms and co2 fire extinguishers? In Chinese farms there was an employee living there to keep an eye on everything 24/7 and they allowed the fire to spread so much? Miners are mostly made of electronic boards, fans, metal cases and other stuff that doesn't burn that good. What did they keep in there? Gasoline for backup generators?

That is a huge setback, at a time the market is struggling and difficulty level is high. If the farm is insured, there should be some hope for the owners. I hope help comes their way soon. My heart is with them.

there are certain things that you can not lie about when it comes to bitcoin. you can't lie and say you are Satoshi, you can lie and say i sent you bitcoin, you can't lie and say $10 million ASICs burnt...
where is the proof of that? where is the $10 million worth of hash rate drop?
just a shady unclear picture without a timestamp showing the aftermath of some fire is not proving anything. we have no evidence to believe otherwise.

Wow, this is crazy losing a $10M worth of mining rigs. I'm very sure that the cooling system in the room was not really regulating the heat been generated by the mining rigs.  I think miners should always make sure they have good cooling systems to match the rate at which heat is being generated from the rigs.

Yeah, saw this on several twitter post. And it's also interesting as others claim that there is a variance, no blocks in ~ 2 hours and that could be attributed to this fire somewhere in China.

$10 million is a lot and I don't know if the operators can cover what they have lost here or will continue to mine after the fire.

Forgive me for my comment, but if those rigs are really in flames, shouldn't there be no electricity already and smokes are already present within the area? Clearly there isn't any smoke to be found and there are still lights within the background. Not that I'm not believing their claims but they need to come up with authentic pictures and footage. It looks as though the flames are placed on the top layer of the original image, added a few filters in it and you have your "disastrous" pic.

I wish this is just a troll post made by Marshall Long and Dovey Wan, else, $10M is a big sum.

Here is the same image but from stock fresh:
#7615298 Fire Burning Inside The Storage Apartment by AndreyPopov Stock photo AndreyPopov
https://stockfresh.com/image/7615298/fire-burning-inside-the-storage-apartment

And it has already been debunked here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5189037.0

So lock the topic, it all fake.

where is the $10 million worth of hash rate drop?

10 million $ might sound much but invested in the latest gear it would only get you 0.3% of the total hash rate, see my post in the topic link above Tongue
So, it would be pretty hard to show something that tiny.

I think this recent drop in mining hashrate could be a reason why the Bitcoin price drop 20% recently.

Generally, if there is a loss, it is Marshall Long's fault that he has not taken the necessary protection measures.

It wasn't Marshall Long. He pulled the video from WeChat or something and speculated that it was Innosilicon, who denied it. If Marshall Long were claiming it were his, I'd have no doubt he was faking it. He's a longtime serial scammer.
