That is why we cannot fully compare Bitcoin with all the altcoins because they are different in the first place. The are the same in terms of being cryptocurrencies and built on blockchain but in terms of use and function, they may be world apart. It is not fair to just trash all altcoins because they are lesser cryptos than Bitcoin. There are so many ecosystems made and each of them could have its own crypto. There are more focused coins. Bitcoin is generally for overall spending. Most altcoins, on the one hand, are specialized for a specific purpose.

I can't get the context of relating Bitcoin to alipay, that bitcoin can't survive alone. Actually bitcoin can, what I can perceived is that, other altcoins accumulate the volume of the market. I think it would be better if there are less altcoins in the market. Through that, bitoin's volume would be even better. Which is opposing the side that bitcoin can't survive alone. I would agree but most of the time those product which have real life case are relegated on the background. And the alt that took the center stage are mostly shitcoins. It is not right for btc to take the functions of all altcoins, and if all payments are made with btc, those coins will become redundant. I think btc can stand by itself, but the altcoins have goals and if they do not, they will not. Even if this system is changed, there will be nothing big enough to affect btc. Wait, this year's progress towards adoption will increase further next year.

Payment systems that work well without bitcoin do not need to attach the 5th wheel, if something from cryptocurrencies will tied, it will be a fast currency, like LTC or DASH.

Some altcoins outlast bitcoin in terms of a faster transactions but of course bitcoin is still better than any altcoins. Alipay is good in China, they are totally cash-less and hopefully soon cryptocurrency will add to their option. That's not the significant thing about volatile character of bitcoin, but if these companies will try to see what's the capability of btc to increase a commendable value. Bitcoin's journey could survive without other coins, but don't expect it to establish an expensive price. We need other crypto and stable adoption in order to maintain a stable market.

As per my understanding BTC is like a mainframe looking at which all other altcoins were built and the trust, faith that all have on BTC is not the same with altcoins. If it was the same then there would be atleast one such coin that can replace BTC but, that is not the case.

When it comes to the importance of a particular cryptocurrency, you need to understand that one cryptocurrency, like any one financial or other asset, cannot exist. If we talk about bitcoin as the only cryptocurrency, then we are certainly mistaken in the correctness of this. I believe that altcoins were created and are created to support bitcoin and the development of infrastructure, without which no project can work. We have already seen how the dominance of botcoin grew and was already more than 50%, this is the mechanism for feeding bitcoin. Personally, I see it this way. And of course, bitcoin cannot be the one and only.

I beg to disagree, Bitcoin is one of the most powerful coin in cryptocurrency, without it there are so much trust issues in cryptofield. BlockChain is what makes bitcoin run and it is the future of digital technology I guess. Alipay and Wepay are payment processors, while Bitcoin is a currency. That is the difference. Both Alipay and Wepay use the same currency (Chinese Yuan). So your arguments are self-defeating. Even with Bitcoin, we have multiple third party payment processors. Either you can make the payments directly with Bitcoin, or using these payment processors.

We need altcoins for some niche domains, but that has nothing to do with the arguments put forward by the OP. For example, Bitcoin doesn't offer complete anonymity, and therefore we need to use anonymous cryptocurrencies such as Zcash, Monero and Verge. For smart contract platforms, currencies such as Ethereum, Stellar Lumens and Omni are being used. Then we have stablecoins such as USDT and USDC to protect the users from volatility.

first of all bitcoin doesn't rely on anything to want to rely on altcoins to survive. it has been surviving alone all this time with shitcoins latching onto it to survive like parasites.

secondly as for survival of altcoins, it depends on the altcoin itself. so far 99% of what we had is purely garbage without any purpose and they don't solve anything. in short they have no reason to exist which means they have no way of surviving.
in order to survive we need actual good coins that solve something and then it won't matter what bitcoin does, they will do their own thing just like bitcoin is doing it independently.

Bitcoin and Altcoins are all cryptocurrency they needs each other to become productive. the market became colorful like these because of the Altcoins and i can never imagine the crypto-space with Bitcoin was all alone that was a lonely space. Recently, there has been news in the media that countries such as Venezuela and North Korea are interested in cryptocurrency.  Perhaps there are still countries that are on the sanctions list and which are interested in cryptocurrency, but nevertheless it seems to me that this can be very significant for the entire cryptocurrency market.  It is possible that these countries can start trading among themselves with the help of cryptocurrency and without the use of the dollar.  Thus, they will not only undermine the authority of the United States, but also its economy.  But the most important point is that such coins as Bitcoin and Ethereum can literally be used as a means of payment.  It is clear that this situation will attract a lot of investment in these coins.
