I think people especially tweet and search about Bitcoin when its price is high. Now Bitcoin is 8200 dollars and it is far away from the record 19k. So, people are less interested in searching or tweeting about Bitcoin I think.

The recent market correction affects bitcoin's popularity on Twitter. As we all know people talk about bitcoin a lot when the price is booming not declining. Once the market starts looking awfully bad many people don't want to talk about it and you know that might affect the bitcoin popularity.

When Twitter finally started having ban waves of thousands of bot/duplicate accounts that would only post crypto related content, a lot of the "interaction" died down.

There's not a lot of money to be had on twitter when it comes to ROI regarding marketing or advertising on that platform. Facebook was much more lucrative but they were being hush-hush about their ponzi coin plans at the time that they were suppressing most potential competitors. Some action was had on instagram, but the real money makers would infiltrate communities that existed on discord/telegram to pump & dump on people.

The same "figureheads" still exist on Twitter that are verified, a lot of their content isn't very relevant except when they mostly tell people to just "buy bitcoin" moments after their profit has been made and are ready to accumulate at lower levels.

Possibly this is true the adoption or popularity of bitcoin becomes less on social media. Above mention about bounty when those times many projects appeared so a lot of hashtags on Twitter. Indeed the popularity increases before because of the price of bitcoin when it was reached an all-time high. I assume that once bitcoin could reach the price to the moon again it will be talked about on twitter.

I add a little. The rising price of Bitcoin to $ 19k is one of the causes of the Bitcoin hype on Twitter. At that time, many people were tweeted because of the rising price of Bitcoin.

That #Bitcoin tag is an inaccurate thing to search because most of them came from bounty hunters which promotes their project and put #tag in it. Not to mention that there's a lot of alt accounts being created just to promote projects and get extra rewards. I'd say the amount of accounts getting used has dwindled down this year compared to last or the amount of bounty hunters has fallen down because of how ICO is turning out to be.

Many are going to be twitter warriors again. Even releasing their own TA and tells everyone about their positive prediction, Lol. So I'm not bothered by all of this, I'm more concern of my trading strategy and adjust it, instead of looking at someone's tweet or any other social media for that matter.

See, the problem for guys like me is there already are too many twitter warriors, as it is. It still makes me wonder how on earth these CEOs and pundits got all the time in the world to take their petty fights to Twitter, and then when they're sat down in some conference to talk spontaneously you see them for the petty little puppets they all are. And they actually think they're taking the fight up for Bitcoin!

So please, by all means, decline even more. Maybe I'll be convinced to come on Twitter when the storms go away and we can stop seeing shit on our feeds.

The tweets about cryptocurrency in Twitter comes from many types of people. Some of them comes from ideologically motivated people and most of the time, these will be of high quality. Then there is another group, who are paid to tweet (i.e the bounty campaign participants or bounty hunters). Don't expect high quality from these people. Then there is yet another group, who use Twitter as a medium to promote their scam projects. I would recommend the users to stay away from these people. And then there is the last group, which comprises of losers such as John McAfee, who make tweets in exchange for a financial reward. I would ignore such people as well.

Quote
1. Bounties & Bounty Hunters: During the Bull run bounty hunting was at its peak and all the bounty hunters participated heavily in twitter campaigns. Most of the tweets had some basic condition to add a few hashtags related to cryptocurrency I think that was the reason why the graph looks so tall during the bull run.
Bounty hunting is a dying industry in Cryptocurrency fewer and fewer people are participating in the bounty campaign, and there are only few ICO now compared to what we have in 2017 and 2018 the decline is pretty obvious
Bounty hunting contributed to the popularity of Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency in the past and the only way to get back the popularity is when the market is up again and heading to another all-time high, I like it more if Bitcoin's social media presence is because Bitcoin is reaching another milestone.
Think it's basically dead at this point, with there being like 5% of how many campaigns there were a couple of years back (early 2018, the crowdfunding boom period), and some of that traffic can definitely be contributed to those people.

Not only in the Twitter but in the whole Bitcoin market itself as the continue bearish market performance shows that the interest of the people in Bitcoin is really diminishing as if it is not then the bullish is has been long started.

Maybe the #bitcoin become popular in the year 2017 and we know in that year bitcoin reach its greatest price which is 20000$. Talking about the bounty, there are new bounty campaigns right now but not all are sure to achieve the hard cap or even the soft cap that's some bounty hunter get tired on joining. Lastly, there are still bounty hunters that active in participating bounty campaign and most of bounties have social media campaign which have facebook and twitter. Maybe the #bitcoin might become trend again once we new upcoming price on the market.

I still think the biggest contributing factor are the price movements, and media attention it's received. Of course, more people would be talking about cryptocurrencies when it's going up to 20,000, or dropping to a 10,000, and right now the prices are just pretty standard, stable, and could almost be described as boring.

more money were attracted to the crypto industry, as result it is generating more digital crap out of it. all kind of forums. twitter, youtube, facebook and like that media. all were used to gain more coverage.
once the hype died, all budgets for such things died as well.. there is nothing tragic in it. just a natural way of things. and if you see to the graphic you can notice that is was like that in the past, so I can assure it will repeat in the future

Many people say that BTC has grown in adoption and use. But I think despite of this fact the popularity of bitcoin is going downwards. Here is a very interesting graphic I found which shows the number of posts with #Bitcoin on Twitter I think the graph is pretty identical with the price graph.

However I personally think there are two reasons behind the boom which came during the bull run.

2. Trading Mentors & Media: A lot of hype was also created by all types of media around the world when they continuously posted around regarding bitcoin and how it went to moon. Moreover even every damn trader became a trade mentor because every coin was going up people gave calls blindly and became trading mentor. These mentors were giving calls on daily basis with these usual hashtags relating to bitcoin.

These can be the two reasons why chart shows such a long tower in December 2017.

Ofcourse the reason why the tweets will are booming is because of market condition. Once the market is in the peak of it's price, the project owner, investors and bounty hunters are very active.

But as you can see the chart, in 2019 the tweets are declining the same with the market condition as the market is almost in the bottom right now. Yes the influence of that two are very active last 2017 therefore the charts is very high at that time.

For me i expected that the popularity of bitcoin on twitter should go down because twitter is the biggest crypto scamming platform, do not use twitter to calculate if crypto adoption is growing better or not, we are complaining about airdrops and bounty scams but i have never seen the highest scamming platform as twitter, its full of shitcoins that never leave the platform and projects that never have websites so what do you expect from those that fell victim to such act? all blames will be put on bitcoin itself

So now that we have this figure, what exactly are you also doing to help the hype more, we already know that the ICO market is not doing good again, and you don’t expect hunter to still continue to broadcast it because they are no longer motivated to work for some of these projects again as many of them end up not paying them, so in that regards, if they want bounty hunter activities to increase on twitter, then developers needs to do the needful.

For the hype of bitcoin, bears are the causes of this, they are the ones that has not really allowed the market to grow and get to where it ought to be, there is need for the bulls to take over if we really want the bitcoin graph to increase, if bitcoin goes to $16k today, check twitter tomorrow and see if the popularity of bitcoin would not increase again.

It seems to me that this is not the case, and over the past six months, interest in bitcoin on Twitter has increased on the contrary

Bounties and bounty hunters have nothing to do with it 'cause most of them don't even use this hashtag. Of course it dropped, because in 2016-2018 everyone made a fuss about bitcoin because of its rapid price increase. I don't actually care about it, adoption is important, not statistic of using hashtags in some social network.

The info you found is interesting and there may be a connection, but to be more certain that there's a connection we need to collect more info from different sources, not just twitter.
Besides, there must be a numerical correlation of data.

So you think all the bounty hunters participating in twitter campaigns are helping to promote Bitcoin?  Cheesy  How? Most of the accounts participating are trash, "shadow-banned" on the platform, they can tweet but nobody can see the tweet in the feed. They have fake followers gathered with F4F ect, or bought.

I don't get what OP wanted to mean, there is no decline (exclude Dec 2018) check out the average with previous years

I think this decrease is normal. When Bitcoin start a bull-run again, I am sure that the number of tweets about Bitcoin will increase to a large extent. Bounty hunters will effect it
and people will tweet about Bitcoin price rising again.

Well, I cannot deny the fact that it is bad for the reason that it only shows the activity decreases. But I think on what you have mentioned in your post is the only reason why, and I even think that it's effect is almost close to none. The reason why this is happening is because the peak year, bitcoin had drawn a lot of attention due to the connotation that it is a rich scheme (because of the bull run)  but since it's over, the people engaging decreased.

Interesting that there was more mentions in year 2015 than there is now . Only thing that i can imagine is that in year 2015 twitter was not combating bots  but now they are. Also interesting that recently there was a sharp drop in mentions to almost zero. Lets see if it will bounce back to average level.

I think the popularity of bitcoin on twitter is depending on how the value of it rises. If the price is high many people will be able to recognize bitcoin and how this can be earned. But if the price drop down many people will also be lost their interest in it. So if you had been noticed around the year 2017, many crypto hunters keep promoting Bitcoin and other projects because they know that earning crypto's at that time is quite good. What about now? Many newly launched projects are usually scams and exit scam, in that way, hunters had been lost of interest.
