Hello everybody. i had an old Electrum wallet and i hadnt connected for a long time. Then, i connected, it worked , so i decided to update it to be able to put some bitcoin on it.
So i updated , and connected succesfully. Then, it started syncrhonizing, and never stopped. It just kept synchronizing like a bug. So , i quitted and tried to reopen it, but since then, i was never able to reopen. I type the correct password, and click on next , and it just disappears.
Anyone know what should i do?
Thanks in advance

From what website did you download the update? What version of Electrum do you have after the update? You should always download updates from the official website and verify them. You can try downloading the standalone executable to see if it's a problem related to your install.

i downloaded the latest version(3.3.8) from the official website, and i verified the signature before installing it. I succesfully installed and connected to the wallet, but then i got stuck in synchronization. It was taking too long and seeming bugged. So i quitted, and tried to reopen , but when i type the password and click next, it disappears, like if it was shutting down after i click next.
I am using a MacOS

Backup your wallet file and seed.  Then try uninstalling and reinstalling.   But please, make sure you have everything correctly backed up.

The wallet file format changed a long time ago so that's why it might not be working. Restore your wallet using the seed. If you don't have it then you might need to downgrade Electrum and extract your private keys.

Have you checked firewall, antivirus ? They might be blocking Electrum too. As you have the right version, it should sync.

I would do what bitcryptex said. Restore from the seed and install again.

No, Electrum stops synchronising once you close it. If rebooting your PC didn't work (it might sound funny but it often helps) then I would try reinstalling Electrum. Back up your wallet file even if you have the seed, just in case.

Hello everybody, i dont know how exactly but it worked. I was going to uninstall electrum as suggested here, then i used clean my mac and uninstalled it. Clicked on the dmg file of electrum that i had downloaded before and it opened the initial screen. I typed my password and it worked. Maybe i didnt uninstall everything but cleaned some junk files? i dont know , but thank you everybody for the help.
