What you expect from ethereum is the real question, if you are expecting it to be the number 2 without any question and 5x price of right now without falling back and getting used by everyone, then no that will not happen for sure.

Leaning with what the team will offer is a good thing to do while waiting for this updates. ETH already reached this far and still on top tailing bitcoin in terms of position inside CMC, with adoptions will take place in the near future ETH have a decent system to be ready anytime. I'm still waiting for this big update of Ethereum and as of now the current price of ethereum is at around 180$ to 190$. I wonder after the ethereum 2.0 the price ethereum might get a new record of its all-time high price. I see this upgrade to affect the happenings around the world of cryptocurrency, although the move to have 2.0 will enhance the scalability of the said coins. I do not really see the development of ethereum as a problem, the developers are doing everything they can and they are taking the right path, the issue is the demand of ethereum, years ago ethereum basically had a monopoly and most coins released in the market used the ethereum blockchain but since then many competitors have appeared and when you add the lack of trust investors have in new coins then it is easy to see why the price of ethereum does not seem to recover.
