The idea of this sponsorship comes from two enthusiastic Bitcoin supporters, Silvia Bossio well known in the community as “Silvia Jones”, blogger and administrator of the Crypto Bar and Luca De Luca, software engineer and solution architect with long experience in blockchain and cryptocurrencies....[/i]
Heard that a gambling site is sponsoring Watford football club and last year another controversial site sponsored Spurs but they withdrew that because of regulators, i am not sure whether they sponsored the BTC logo but Watford does have the BTC logo in their shirt.
Good to see that many people are coming up and starting to sponsor sports team.

If they are really aiming for "improve awareness" for the cryptocurrency they are doing the worst they can by putting it on a shirt in futsal team playing on a lesser known league and of course on the women's division where it doesn't even receive half the fans on a men's division of that sport.
To sponsor huge teams you need to shell out huge amount of money, if they are doing something and BTC logo is present it is good to see those advertisement being done and i really appreciate those initiatives.

I'm sure that most of the people here who continuously complain about all sorts of things don't do anything themselves for Bitcoin.

How do you know that?

Education is key, which is something a lot of forum members are contributing to. A lot of what we read about nowadays can be debunked easily. If everyone was to take what news outlets report about at face value, this whole space would be a mess. They would control not only what you read, but also what you know about Bitcoin.

Important to take into consideration is that most news outlets are owned by entities with a great interest in what the market is doing, so they are incentivized to publish fake news to manipulate the market.

Watford FC is sponsored by sportbets.io and not just one of the sponsors but the " front of shirt sponsor" i.e. their logo is on the team's t-shirts
here you can read more about Watford and sportsbet.io :   https://www.watfordfc.com/club/partners/official-sportsbetio-becomes-new-front-shirt-sponsor
there is no bitcoin logo though , yes but sportsbet is one of the largest bitcoin accepting sportsbooks in the business
as for the popularity of women's football - small steps , it does take a lot of money to sponsor a team and not every big company can afford that
it does increase the popularity of bitcoin and I'd love to see more successful companies that accept bitcoin promote it mainstream

Although I'm overall glad about the news, I find it a bit strange that the logo was placed in this particular region:

I mean it was definitely not a wise decision. Although advertisers do place their logos on shorts too, they normally avoid this area when placing them:

in women's football this would be the most viewed place , so it was a good decision
jokes aside , there are different types of sponsors : front shirt  sponsor , title sponsor , official sponsor , official partner, technical sponsor etc.
according to your status and the money you give , you get a certain amount of exposure
the rule is simple: want a better logo placing - give more money

Are you saying that the advertiser was stingy? Or maybe it was such a bad joke?

Hey guys as long as its a Bitcoin promo we should all be glad that someone is willing to promote from their own picket Bitcoin even if for now its just about Football or Futsal. I know, a little bit diversify would be nice but Football is the biggest sport world wide and also the most watched one with the most fans too. This time I salute the idea to implement Bitcoin logo to a Women team which is a step forward as football is not a Men's sport and in this way we spread Bitcoin to Women's as statistically speaking there are more Men's than Women's into Bitcoin.

Really? Common!!!!

Bro, futsal is not football. It's like saying pool is snooker.

Even women football attendance is a joke:
2018–19 UEFA Women's Champions League  Attendance   191,931 (1,586 per match)
compared to the real deal:
Attendance   6,163,044 (49,304 per match)

But futsal? If we don't countr the relatives attending the game ...there is nothing to count.

Well, it's great that there is a promotion that doesn't involve an ICO or some shady business but still, a billboard in Antarctica would get more views.

It's important to note that these games aren't just watched by the few people actually attending them, but also hundreds of thousands of gamblers who bet on a faul, goal, result, etc because these games are streamed worldwide by quite a few of the largest gambling sites. In other words, it's actually quite an effective form of marketing for Bitcoin.

Perhaps it will help sites like bet365 and bwin to accept Bitcoin if enough users ask for it. The importance of this marketing can't be stressed enough.

Tens, not thousands. Neither Betfair nor Bwin have futsal and even if they had I doubt it would be women futsal.
And now I'm a full-fledged misogynist.  Grin

Large gambling websites accepting bitcoin would probably be a million times more important than the whole baktt, etf, rekt whatever.
If that happens the bear season is over and we can kiss goodbye both the 4 digits and 1sat/b transactions.

But unfortunately, I have a feeling these exact sites will probably be the last one adopting BTC. They are already in a somewhat grey area I doubt they will have the guts to push their luck right now.

Why underestimate one completely positive move in my opinion, women promote Bitcoin for free and even if 1000 people see Bitcoin logo on their jerseys, and at least 10% get involved in any way with cryptocurrency it's already step in the right direction.

The whole idea of Bitcoin&blockchain started from one man, he had no help from any organization, media or big football club at that time. It is ridiculous to underestimate someone in a way to say that "a billboard in Antarctica would get more views", same as some smartass was saying to Satoshi that his project will fail just because it is it is impossible to compete with the current financial system.

Big things always start with a small step, and I appreciate more moves like this than some big projects promoting Bitcoin just for their own benefit.

It is ridiculous to underestimate someone in a way to say that "a billboard in Antarctica would get more views",

Well, you should know that I have a habit of making comparisons that seem ridiculous but in fact are true.  Grin Grin

Port Lockroy is seeing more than 25k tourists a year, or more than 3 times the attendance for the 2018 AFC Women's Futsal Championship, (unfortunately wiki has no data or even pages about others championships)
So, as much as it seems like a total negativistic view from some smartass...there is a lot of truth in it.  Grin
And admit it, a billboard with bitcoin in Antartica will be all over the mainstream news Tongue

same as some smartass was saying to Satoshi that his project will fail just because it is it is impossible to compete with the current financial system.

You see, my comparison had a real starting point.
Yours....  Cool

LE:
I've spent 1 hour googling how to get a flag on the north pole, south pole even on Everest.
Even managed to find a topic about this kind of thing on bitcointalk in 2013 but it seems like it was some kind of failure.

So, anybody has a clue how much will cost (I'm not daring to even try and imagine going there myself) to set a damn flag there?
So far the expeditions seems to costs 150k (for the south pole) ..auch..
Ideas?

They actually offer futsal bets (and there are many more online casinos doing so), but not as frequently as the more popular sports, and why wouldn't they feature women futsal? They also offer plenty of other not so mainstream sports with only women.

Large gambling websites accepting bitcoin would probably be a million times more important than the whole baktt, etf, rekt whatever.
If that happens the bear season is over and we can kiss goodbye both the 4 digits and 1sat/b transactions.
I put an ETF well above any form of Bitcoin acceptance. If there is enough demand, which I think there will be, billions worth of Bitcoin will be taken out of circulating only further squeezing out the floating supply.

Gold ETF's have seen a capital inflow of ~$18 billion this year, and the year isn't even over. Bitcoin has much more upside and a lot of investors would love to tap into an ETF to ride the market within a regulated and insured environment. If we can combine both ETF's and legacy casinos accepting Bitcoin and paying people out in Bitcoin, that would absolutely be insane.  Grin

Well, the frequency might be a reason why the moment you first wrote, the moment I replied and even right now both websites show this in their sports index:

But if you list floorball (seriously?) and not futsal...u see where I'm going here...
LE:
I can't get past the splash page on betfair, ublock is doing something wrong there

About the ETF, there is really no point arguing here, I know we have different views on this, you're a bit more inclined to the investment store of value part, my belief is that there is no value without utility. We won't get anywhere.
