Hello guys,

Someone I have been trying to help recover his bitcoin said he can't remember his password to the popular blockchain .com wallet anymore, he still has the Login ID, and his email is intact. One mistake he did however is that: he didn't write down the recovery phrase of the wallet, he doesn't know recovery phrase exist till I told him today. I have asked him to use the last password he can remember, he can't login still.

He gave me his wallet address: 16gRbtQRWTxcMNavjVA1cMWemdELneELHB
He said he received some fund yesterday.

So don't know if we have anyone trusted person that can help him recover his fund through his wallet login ID and the registered email

He said he has about $1200 as a total balance. I have try to use bitref.com in analyzing the wallet, maybe I didn't see it clearly.

Any suggestion for a trusted helper or a way out is welcome, Thanks.

If the website is blockchain.com then just replace your old password with a new password. Since he has still access to his email then he just need to reset the password using his email.

Try this link https://support.blockchain.com/access/help

I searched google for solutions and this is what I found the support section for blockchain.com. Next time please write your password and all details in your logbook so that even if your computer gets damages you can still access your account because you have written it.

Thanks, but password reset is not possible with blockchain.com and the team or support equally can't help anyone, one will need a recovering phrase which he doesn't have.

It seems this support is a phishing support, this support can't be found their main website, and the directives he gives for registrtaion is different from the usual blockchain.com and info

Could easily be a stolen email where he searched Bitcoin in the email and found a registration showing the ID. I don't automatically believe anyone who just "forgets" their password to a wallet and still has coins sent to that public address without being able to access it. Something smells fishy and probably is.

He is a neophyte in the matters of bitcoin. Are you suggesting he hacked the email too? He has full control of his email.
I will may need to attach where he had previous screenshot his wallet balance, he sent video of the wallet too.

Feel free to tell me why someone who doesn't have access to a wallet would send funds to it.

Well his password he claimed stopped working yesterday, ever before now he gets an authorization emails, that is where he is able to get his login ID and his old phone. He is reading this, I will make him register on this platform so he may come and answer so questions himself.

Yes, this is correct.
Just checked their website, they do not allow a password reset
https://login.blockchain.com/#/help

Well... Your friend just made everything against blockchain.com recommendations: didn't write down the seed, didn't save his password... Now it is hard to get any help...

Try contacting their support, the best he can do

This is unbelievable, I'm sorry OP but I dont believe that your friend totally didnt know that recovery phrase is important. It is well explained before creating a wallet that it is important to unlock the wallet once you forgot your password. Also, once you have forgotten the password and you didnt have the recovery phrase you dont have any other option to open the wallet even if you ask for the support of the website and claim to be the owner of the wallet they will not help you until you provide any important information they need.

You are getting a lot of bad advice from a lot of signature advertisers that are just posting to earn money.  They don't understand how bitcoin works, and they don't understand how bitcoin.com works, so they are just echoing nonsense that they've seen elsewhere and hoping that they either stumble across something helpful (they won't) or that their post still counts towards any quota they have for earning from the signature advertising campaign.

If someone has an advertisement in their signature, the first thing you should do (before you ever read anything they ever post) is to click on the ignore link under their name.  It will make your experience here at this forum MUCH better.

That being said, the only user here that has accurately responded so far is Ucy.

Your friend either gave you the wrong address, or is lying to you.

There are no bitcoins at the address you provided.

I just try to login now by the password he trust and believe it's correct, it asked for him to authorize from his email, he copied the authorization for me and when I placed it on my brave browser, it said approved, that I should return back to the login page. On the login page, he showed error decrypting wallet, Wrong password. It seems the fault is from blockchain.com

nobody can recover such wallets except the user himself and by having their email address, account ID, password, or recovery ID. and it can only be done through the blockchain.com website itself. "you" as a third party can not help him at all and be careful what you download there is a lot of scams going on these days where they pretend to be a damsel in distress and give you an infected file to steal "your" coins!

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.

Giving Ucy some love for checking the wallet balance first, I really like all given solution but for OP if your friend doesn't give proof and evidence that this is his real wallet then ignore him and suggest him to make another wallet address and this time save up the recovery phrase that the wallet will give,

And if this is his real wallet and according to Ucy the wallet had sent the exact same amount of 0.040974 BTC if this is not your friend transaction or if he didn't move his BTC to another wallet then the wallet might be hacked for getting this kind of transaction, I guess he needs to move on or your referring us to hack his wallet for him? because thats not going to happen.

The owner of the wallet either gave the wrong wallet or the person lied because the total funds received in that wallet is just a little bit above quarter of the amount you mentioned which was moved 6 days ago.

Thanks guys, it has been established, it's a case of hacked wallet, he used SMS as 2FA, have asked him to abandon the wallet and go for hardware wallet. and equally avoid his email or secure it. I will leave the thread open for a while for more technical discussion, after awhile, I will lock it. Thanks a lot.

It's also a case of your friend lying to you.

Hacked or not, that wallet NEVER held $1200.

The most that wallet EVER held was about $320.

No one said anything about the total funds the wallet ever had not being up to quarter of what was mentioned

when you have forgotten the password of the bitcoin wallet that you have then the only way you can only change the password is by using the registered email by the method of forgetting the password and contacting support, and if you don't have access to your email then surely you don't can return the wallet you have.
