I am a dreamer and one of my dreams is to see bitcoin being mainstreamed into our society but it is very hard because of government intervention and other aspects. But we are not alone in our fight towards the adoption of bitcoin to all countries and I do salute some of the politicians who share our thought about the advantage of using bitcoin to our society.  According to an article on coinbase.com here are 7 politicians who were in support to bitcoin and blockchain:

1. Jared Polis
2. Dan Elder
3. George Galloway
4. Andrew Hemingway
5. Gulnar Hasnain
6. Rand Paul
7. Rick Perry

So when a politicians claims to know and support Bitcoin, ask them what is their account in Bitcointalk, so we can check his/her messages, and then we know if they are serious or simply opportunists.

Andrew Yang? Who would have miss this guy?

Quote
“My vision of the economy is very consistent with the people who are in the cryptocurrency community,” Yang added, noting a need for greater decentralization and transparency in the political and economic system. Distributed ledger technology could be a key tool for facilitating the efficient distribution of a universal basic income.

https://cryptobriefing.com/crypto-andrew-yang-bitcoin-blockchain-tech/

I'm sure that most of them candidates are willing to accept crypto to help them in their campaign, but I wouldn't be complacent though that they are really pro-crypto here. Perhaps most of them are just riding the popularity for all we know.

It's great to have politicians support the Bitcoin adoption, but besides that what we really need are big companies to lead by example. If I were the CEO of a big company and would really care about Bitcoin I'd start by paying at least a percent of my employees salaries in BTC. Can you imagine what effect could that have on the market price? I've made some research and if Apple would pay 10% of its employees in Bitcoin that would result in 1.6 billion dollars poured into the BTC market cap per year. But what if they would pay 50%, or even 100% in BTC & other companies will follow their example. I think you can once more time see the potential of Bitcoin as a currency and store-of-value.

I don't know if this is legally allowed in the United States, but your comment certainly applies in Japan. Over there, large companies should start doing that, but those companies are too conservative even with a law backing it. Only the small, younger start ups and crypto related business enthusiasts have done it.

For most of the world, first they need to address the legality barrier, because the first thing the employer will say, is that its illegal to do so. If the State doesn't even acknowledge bitcoin formally, someone getting paid in that could claim they are not getting any payment at all and sue over slavery and whatnot.

So after you get the law and regulation in place, it comes the really hard part to convince the employers to do so. It means an extra complexity to their management, which they would hardly see any justification spending money to accommodate for that.

You forgot to mention Andrew yang, he's running for president of the United States of America. He's of the Democratic party and he strongly supports cryptocurrencies.
He wants the government to refocus on getting the guidance out there for investors who are on the wall about potential investing due to regulatory concerns.

Interesting thread mate, I read the article and it looks pretty interesting. There was an article some time ago which also showcases the Ukraine president who was a huge supporter of crypto-currencies as well.

I don't think you can pay out BTC in someone's salary, unless they want to as well. But instead of bonuses paid in fiat, ones that are paid in bitcoin could possibly work since it's not breaking the contract.

There's been a bunch of start-ups (especially ones that work in crypto) that pay their entire staff in crypto, but since they mention it at the start, and the employees accept, it's fine for them to do so.

These are the politicians who have known the right about bitcoin and blockchain. When other politicians think of the negativity and the crimes that have happen through bitcoin these politicians take it in the opposite way. Particularly these people consider it a technology that is truly a requirement to the world which is transforming to a digitized form.

At the end of the day, even if all politicians are against Bitcoin, Bitcoin will continue to grow big. While it is welcome for some politicians to be siding with Bitcoin, they are not needed. They are welcome but, lest they think Bitcoin's progress is owed to them one way or another, Bitcoin does not need politicians to grow and get adopted by merchants and customers alike. In fact, it has grown in spite of politicians.

There is no need for a politician to be a part of this forum to be considered as a real supporter of Bitcoin. With their busy schedules, it is enough that we are sensing they are uniting with us in our fight to promote Bitcoin and make it a globally accepted currency or as much people as possible as we can never be winning all. Support can come in many ways. Just a little pronouncement that favors Bitcoin can be enough to help the cause.

In that list, I would like to add the leaders of Japan, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines. They may not be saying directly good about Bitocin but they allowed Bitcoin to freely be used and traded in their respective nations, and that means a lot to all of us. I prefer a silent supporter than a big-mouthed one whose actions can be opposite of what he is saying.

Though Bitcoin is supposed to be an anti-government but the reality is that in our global village no island can live alone. We need the government to become our partner rather than the enemy. I know some may not like that idea but tell your idealism to China and see if Xi Jinping will be listening to you.

It's good that they are pro-bitcoin, but the question is do they really understand its importance and purpose. If they keep on comprehending then they will also use it in many transactions. By using it they will advertise it for other people to support it also. When that happens, bitcoin will become more known in the world and they will also learn the value of bitcoin in our economy and in the market.

It's good to know that there are politicians that are positive in regards to crypto currency and that are supportive of innovative ideas. I believe that politicians should be that way, and should understand the possibility and potential of cryptocurrency and how it will help and bring convenience to the mass.

It's great to see that even some politicians are aware and in favor of cryptocurrencies. But I don't think it's enough, and that we'll see mass adoption in a few years. We're still far away of global adoption due to other relevant factors such as technology's availability and such. I think what's needed to be done first is to fix the current system, lessen poverty, help third-world gain economic stability, and all would follow, including adoption of digital and cryptocurrencies.

maybe that is good news that we hear because some politicians have begun to adopt bitcoin but I think it's natural for us because they are not a government that can legalize bitcoin in our country or in other countries, but I am very sure bitcoin will be increasingly adopted by the public even though the government forbid it because people now know very well about current technological developments.

But are they HODLERS?

Pro-Bitcoin, and HODLING Bitcoin are two different personal scenarios, with different personal viewpoints. A HODLER also has his/her greed, and own financial interests on the table. Cool

that is very good news for all of us and for bitcoin, by releasing bitcoin to the community I believe it is very good, in my country bitcoin has also been recognized even though it is not used in transactions because it is difficult to trace and prone to fraud

The support of political forces is a very important aspect for Bitcoin to be recognized as a legal means of payment in different countries of the world. Only when the various groups implementing this process will act together, it can be fully implemented. The community certainly needs politicians who understand all the benefits of Bitcoin for the economy. I think the younger generation of politicians who understand all the new processes will contribute to the promotion of Bitcoin and strengthen the reputation of blockchain technologies around the world.

There might be some politicians who support Bitcoin but more or less that is on their own personal level, in most cases that is not the position of their governments.
Their support might look good in public and it's good for Bitcoin promotion but no one of them still hasn't done anything substantial for Bitcoin in terms of regulation, adoption or similar. So all we actualy have are their words.

I think most of the forum are not from the US or wherever most of these politicians are from,,, so we do not really care about whether they support Bitcoin or not.

And if I understand real Bitcoin users, they also do not care if politics sides with them. Most people in power will only see bitcoin profit potential and not so much that it helps people take control of their own money.

Just my opinion.
