Hyderabad's match strategy are really great. They do not have enough talented and skilled players in their team. Even then they are now in third place in the points table. They may be in the top 4 by the end of the season.

They may not be having too many super-stars, but they have a number of young and promising players. Chinglensana Singh is one of the best defenders in India right now. Other promising players include Laldanmawia Ralte, Halicharan Narzary, Nikhil Poojari and Asish Rai. On top of this, their foreign contingent is also of topmost quality (Lluís Sastre, João Victor, Aridane Santana, Francisco Sandaza.etc). Unfortunately, I never made a bet in favor of them this season. It could have been much rewarding to do so.

Right now they are not in such a position, but given the improvement in the game I hope they will be able to do that within the next few years. Take the world cup qualification for example. From 2026 onwards, Asian teams stand a greater chance to qualify, because the slots from Asia has been increased from 8 from 4 in 2022. The first target for the Indian team should be to secure World Cup qualification by 2026.

India spends a lot of money on football. But they do not get such good results. Their players need to be more diligent. They have a lot of players. Players need to be properly prepared through training. And domestic players should be given more opportunities in league games to play with foreign players. Which will make them more skilled.

As I mentioned earlier, things are moving in the right direction. But there are two major obstacles. First of all, football is not a very popular sport in India. There are a few strongholds such as Kerala, Goa and Bengal. But apart from these places, football is a minor sport in India. Cricket remains the no.1 sport for the majority of Indians. And secondly, one of the reasons why India doesn't perform well in the international scene may be due to the lack of athleticism and other factors from the local population. Now there is no real solution for this issue.

Now coming back to the topic, we have NEUFC taking on Odisha today. NEUFC is at 5th place, and they need to win this match to increase their chances of qualifying for the playoff. And tomorrow we have Mumbai City taking on Bengaluru FC. A defeat this time would end Bengaluru's hopes of qualifying. They had such a horrible season this time.
