Hyderabad deserved a place in the playoffs, but unfortunately they fell short by a few points. But I am sad about the poor performance by Bengaluru FC. The team which is captained by Sunil Chhetri deserved a better position in the points table. They ended up at 7th place with just 22 points. Being the most renowned Indian player, I was expecting more from Chhetri and Bengaluru FC.

Almost all the matches of this season were influenced by foreign players. Domestic players did not perform well. Sunil Chhetri is the best player in India. I at least thought he would take Bengaluru FC to the playoffs. But Bengaluru FC has the worst performance this season. Really frustrating.

After Bhaichung Bhutia, Sunil Chhetri was the big name in Indian football. If he was playing for any other country, then he would have achieved a lot of success and fame. But India is ranked much lower in the FIFA table, and no one really notices the matches played by the national team. Right now there is no one to replace him. I hope things will change in the future. That's why we have the ISL. Hopefully younger players will emerge.

Both the teams are heavily dependent on the foreign players. Igor Angulo of FC Goa is the second top-most goal scorer in this season. For Mumbai City FC, Adam Le Fondre has scored a total of 11 goals so far. Among the Indian players, Bipin Singh and Rowllin Borges have impressed for Mumbai City, while Ishan Pandita and Alexander Jesuraj have excelled for FC Goa.

But after 90 minutes, in extra time we saw the horrible form of Northeast. They made 3 shots in extra time, were able to score one goal. Both the semi-final matches have been drawn. Will we then watch the final between Mumbai City vs Mohun Bagan? Because they have dominated the whole season.Or will we see another team in the final? I think Goa will be able to go to the final.

As the first two matches of the leg 1 have come to an end with drawn matches the teams for the final seems to be selected from the matches of the second leg. This time the matches throughout the series were quite interesting and there is excitement till the end. LOL.. the goal from Idrissa Sylla in the last minute of the injury time changed the equations. ATK Mohun Bagan was playing extremely well until then, but they made a grave mistake by conceding that last minute goal. Now it is down to the last match. And regarding the match between FC Goa and Mumbai City FC, it was a more even-sided contest. It was expected, since FC Goa had the momentum with them.

That is really strange logic. The best teams need to win the trophy right? At least during the group phase, Mumbai City and ATKMB were the best teams, by a distance. FC Goa performed pathetically during the initial matches. It will be ridiculous if they end up in the final match. In particular, ATK Mohan Bagan was impressive. They made the transfer from I-league to ISL, and despite all those issues they performed well. IMO, they deserve a spot in the finals.

You are right. The best team should win the trophy. But we have seen the Goa and EastWest teams have struggled hard to make it to the playoffs. But Mumbai and ATK did not have to bother to ensure the playoffs. So I think these two are worthy contenders for the Dolly Trophy.

The second match between Goa and Mumbai is being held. Neither team could score in the first half. Which team will play in the final is still uncertain. Goa is playing better today than Mumbai city.

What an exciting match it was. After extra time, both the teams were tied 2-2 on aggregate. Penalty shootout ended in 2-2 tie. Finally it took the 5th shot form the sudden death to decide the winner. Congratulations to the Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa, who did an excellent job. And Rowlin Borges scored in the crucial sudden death shot, which put Mumbai City in the final.

@ folks help me out in understand the teams, not watched a single match in ISL but since there is a thread and discussion going on i would like to know about the teams and i cannot find much information online as the names are not familiar, have seen odds but usually neglect as i have no idea about the tournament and the teams and how to watch them.

In the full 120 minutes, Mumbai made only one on-target shot. Too much bad performance.

Mumbai City FC changed their goal keeper just before the penalty shootout, and that probably gave them the win. Amrinder Singh was the goalkeeper till 120th minute and then he was replaced with Sikkimese player Phurba Lachenpa. According to Sergio Lobera, Amrinder is a better goalkeeper, but as far as shootouts are concerned, Lachenpa is the best guy. And this move proved to be the match winner. Lachenpa saved the shot from Bedia, and that immediately put them in advantage.

In the end, the outcome was decided in the penalty shootout. Mumbai City's coach (Sergio Lobera) decided to replace Amrinder with Lachenpa and that proved to be a big advantage for them. Amrinder is perhaps the best keeper in India right now, but his performance during the penalties is not up to the mark. So he was replaced with Lachenpa and the latter made some crucial saves to put them in the final.
