Using Electrum For Other Coins

Hi

I am a complete newbie - so sorry if the following questions is stupid

If I understand it corretly, Electrum is paired with bitcoind to create a smaller block chain for use by the Electrum client when handling bitcoins.

My question is, can Electrum, in combination with, say, litecoind be used to create a smaller block chain for use bu an Electrum client to handle litecoins? and what would need to be done to the Electrum client to handle LiteCoins?

If the above is possible, would it then be possible to run Electrum/bitcoind on, say bit-elec.mydomain.tld and Electrum/litecoind on, say lite-elec.mydomain.tld?

If yes, are there any plans to do this?

Electrum will never supported alt-coin forks. However Electrum is also open-source software which means anybody is allowed to do what they want with it (as long as they follow the license that comes with it.)

As for your question it seems somebody might already have a working Electrum Litecoin fork.

Can you change the URL to https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=15444.0 a thread discussion about Electrum Litecoin, that fork you link to is flawed. This thread is driven by the Litecoin Foundation.
