Adoption really plays a big part in Bitcoin's survival. I am actually glad that more and more countries and cities are using Bitcoin as their mode of payment. I haven't seen any merchant around me using BTC as payment but I know there are major cities whose merchants are using it as their payment option.

When it comes to adoption, Turkey is the first place followed by Brazil according to Statita https://bitcoinist.com/cryptocurrency-adoption-highest-5-countries/ .

It is good to see the mass adoption is taking place in every countries, here in our country although not mentioned there, still we are confident the adoption is already taking place here as you can see a lot of blockchain events taking place in different part of our countries, you can see people involved in it, and we do have a lot of users here as well.

In Taguig And Makati City where you can spend your Bitcoin with their delicious Cakes and Cup Cake,

Using the Bitcoin ATM,

You can view this article to see all the available shops where you can spend bitcoin in the Philippines.

It can't be called mass adoption unless we're talking about a large percentage of the population adopting Bitcoin, which isn't the case.... at most we can consider it a glimpse of some form of minimal adoption.

News outlets tend to exaggerate everything they write about just to make it look more bullish, while in fact, very few people actually are adopting Bitcoin and other crypto currency, so take their articles with a truckload of salt.

On a positive note, institutional adoption is happening as we speak with more legacy players entering the space, which I believe will help to stimulate the demand of regular folks to adopt Bitcoin.

Most people are waiting for this space to legitimize, which institutions help with.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

What can you buy in those top 10 countries with bitcoin? Can I buy everyday things or does it just mean that many people and businesses or services support bitcoin?
Could you maybe add to the OP some examples of the biggest or most successful bitcoin-accepting businesses? Could you also state whether or not they are physical locations you can exchange bitcoin in person or online.
Here it is still all online. I only buy online anyway. Private businesses and entrepreneurs you could approach and ask. I once got into a conversation about crypto with an only trader I was buying some plant seeds from and he said if I like I can pay him in doge or eth so I paid in eth.

Don't know hold old that article is but I can tell you that Amsterdam is less bitcoin-friendly than Arnhem in the Netherlands (which is actually the original Bitcoin City in that region, even before the others on the list! You may find more ATMs there for sure, and even Den Haag has more ATMs I think, but actually being bitcoin friendly like with a network of merchants? Nada.

@Annet I am so happy to see the network also active on this forum, I actually have talked about Arnhem many times here. Active stats still show good signs but I visited Arnhem myself last year on a short trip and unfortunately only found 1 shop accepting bitcoin -- granted I had only about an hour to walk around. I know about the website but I wanted to see for myself as a tourist to find out if it was super easy, but I will definitely make the trip again properly.

But you should post NOT in the local Dutch but in Meetups! I never found your Dutch thread till today!;)

Thanks for your kind words about Arnhem!

Awww that's too bad you were only able to find one shop! Did you recognize it by the window sticker?

If you plan on returning please let us know beforehand, we can welcome you or give you tips Smiley I don't visit this forum very often but you can leave a message on our website to be sure that someone actually reads it in time, or join our Telegram group.

But you should post NOT in the local Dutch but in Meetups! I never found your Dutch thread till today!;)
Ah okay, will start a thread there as well! I thought maybe the audience for our meetups is looking in the Dutch section, but in fact yeah would love to welcome more Bitcoin tourists, so.. thanks for the hint Smiley

I was actually expecting Japan as before those guys had good feedback about bitcoin but then I guess other countries like Israel had taken it away. I must say that the adoption in these 10 countries was insane, I mean look at the numbers, it tells everything.

Bitcoin has been around for more than a decade now, but it still has not reached global acceptance as a method of payment that many early adopters had hoped.

Well I guess, we need another decade or perhaps even more for us to reach this.

Me too mate I expect japan is in the list, but sad to seen isn't included in the list from the article, well" actaully we know new york is oart of the U.S territory and new york city is ine of the most city using and intersted all about technology, my is even the president of the united states is not believe into bitcoin as digital crypto currency it prove nobody can stop bitcoin because a lot of people understand well the capability of the new era of technology that's why the continue and asopt bitcoin, by the way it good to seen country in list is friendly contacts to support in the new digital money.

Being crypto friendly is alot different then it use to be since the governments in each country have the final word on how it operates and can shut those businesses or individuals down if they deem it against state laws in how they accept cryptocurrency.
When it comes down to it bitcoin friendly will soon to be known as regulatory accepted in those countries over time. Undecided

I will add some cities that are also friendly with bitcoin because many cryptocurrency exchanges have emerged from that city and also many merchants and institutions that accept bitcoin as a means of payment. as :
Tokyo, Japan
Seol, South Korea
paris, france
Pregue, Czech Republic
bogoto, colombia
I am very happy to see each year the number of cities that accept bitcoin increases. this shows that bitcoin is growing and is known by many people throughout the world.

This is a  better news. Its good for their respective constituents to be free to earn and spend bitcoin. I hope it can also be in other cities. If those cities can then why can't with other cities? Its really just a matter of adopting it and the good purpose it brings to the people. Definitely those cities will be more productive and progressive.

What are you talking about? Do you honestly and truly believe what you are saying? Do you really think that the government's word is final? Lol, how ironic that the saying goes. "his word is law" which is what we are talking about. They can cry about it as much as they want. They can't just come and shut you down. Move your business online. Keep fighting it. Make it a horrible mission for them to do anything about it. There are so many legal ways to avoid such silly nonsense. Of course, this is the states we are talking about. World-renowned for ruining many things. Just read a history book.

It is strange that there is no Asian city on this list, I think a Japanese city, Korea or Singapore should be on this list.

I don't know if you're following Jack, CEo of Twitter? Lately he's been to Nigeria, and one of his reasons he went there was about bitcoin. And from what I've got to know, that country is friendly to bitcoin, people that are living there are freely making use of Bitcoin without having any problem with the government, and cryptocurrency keeps growing there.

I believe that would be the same for some other countries in Africa, there will be lots of them that are friendly with bitcoin and we just don't know it yet. And not only Africa, there are lots of countries that are accepting cryptocurrency and users have no problem with it. So, these countries you have mentioned here are not the only ones that are allowing their citizens to make use of cryptocurrency.

There are over 5000 Bitcoin ATM's in the world so it shouldn't be too hard to find a place to convert to cash.

I have been searching for topics that will somehow help empower the bitcoin community. I have been previously posting bitcoin friendly politicians and the list of their names in this forum. Today I will share to you bitcoin friendly cities. This maybe a boring topic but its better to read topics that can inspire the bitcoin community rather than negative and threatening topics.

1 San Francisco, U.S.
2 Vancouver, Canada
3 Amsterdam, the Netherlands
4 Ljubljana, Slovenia
5 Tel Aviv, Israel
6 Zurich, Switzerland
7 Tampa, U.S.
8 Buenos Aires, Argentina
9 New York, U.S.
10 London, U.K.

After reading the article published by investopedia.com the common thing that makes these cities bitcoin friendly is the presence of merchants accepting bitcoins and the existence of bitcoin atms.

Hmm i find it very strange to not see Tokyo listed in there, consider that Japan was the first country to allow bitcoin officially.

I wouldn't use number of ATMs as metric, shops accepting bitcoin, and employers paying with bitcoin are more interesting in my opinion.

The topic is not boring at all, its always interesting to see these metrics periodically to measure worldwide adoption.

How is Japan's none of the city published here ?
Because we know how Japan has been so friendly when it comes to cryptocurrencies, we are more likely to run into stores accepting cryptocurrencies and at the same time I think it is the first country that have been so okay with the idea of cryptocurrencies.
I think even Japan should have been in the list.

Without further information and data, I can say that bitcoin is really popular to the world. Many traders are converting their assets into btc specially when bull run came. Imagine, from zero value of bitcoin up to almost 20K dollars. I think the capability of bitcoin to move upward direction fastly will be the proof that there are bitcoin fanatics. In addition, these cities also promoting bitcoin. I hope many country will still intrigue in crypto space.
