As announced here , Help collect the most notable posts made over the last 10 years., when we submit our own caption will it be added in the list for the public to vote ?

There are 20 captions showed on the page , but whenever we refresh the page, it shows different captions

Yes. It won't show for you to vote on it, though, since you were the one who submitted it.

Currently highly-rated captions are shown in the last ad slot. In a few weeks, all ad slots will be dedicated to these captions.

Multiple people will have submitted the same post but with different captions. I assume it is just cycling between all the options until a final captain is chosen/voted in. Which also answers my previous question regarding duplicate submissions.

I did a little voting, but man there have been so many good posts/threads just in my relatively short time on the forum that the list there seems so incomplete.  What about all the drama?  Are those threads not worthy of being in the collection?  I could try to recall all the great threads I've seen, but I'd be thinking all day.  Yeah, the pizza and HODL threads are epic but there's so many other great ones.

Still, it's nice to reflect on things like this on the 10th anniversary.  Wish I'd been here longer than I have been--it's a great forum if a little prickly at times.

Yeah, I figured.  There are so many I'd have to recall and track down--I wish I kept them all bookmarked!  I do appreciate the response and tomorrow perhaps I'll have to try to hotwire the two neurons in my noodle that still work and make a list.

What algorithm calculates the number of captions allowed? I guess that's linked to Merits?
I hope the "notable posts" are beautifully displayed and not just links.

Total merit (including airdropped) divided by 10, I think. I have 2911 merit (2811 earned, 100 airdropped), and can submit 291 captions. Too much of a coincidence to be anything else.

i finally finished voting on everything! it feels like there were many duplicates specially with the pizza guy and  HODL guy which leads me to say if there were an option to categorize the entries based on post or at least give a warning to those who submit the same post that there is a duplicate entry with the same link and list the captions so you could only submit if you had an alternative (better) caption for example.

You can submit up to 4 more captions. For-profit/commercial captions are not allowed.

Hopefully, everyone is looking at existing submissions, and then voting on the duplicates according to the caption. If they think the caption of the newly submitted option is better than the already submitted then you can vote for the new one. I'm assuming that the duplicates will be removed once the best caption has been selected.

If anyone wants to submit more then they can post in this thread with their ideas, and someone with more than enough submissions could possibly add it for you.

Will it still be alright even if the caption is in our local languages? There are no restrictions regarding that?


I'm just wary about those duplicates since if I vote for some links there appears another links of post just with another caption, hope that if ever a post is submitted that will never be ever submitted again for voting.

Majority of the community would not understand the caption, except they use a translator. And this would reduce the votes for or against it. You could translate the caption and original post, but the rest of the thread would still be in a local language.
If the local community is large enough it could be selected through the votes.
