I used dialcoin to buy my first bitcoins and got a reciept but nothing happened. Then I signed up to get a donation and still my balance is zero and there is no activity in my Bitcoin app. What am I doing wrong?

ack, please check if your block-count is up to date.
See if they sent you the coins too, you can do a search on http://blockexplorer.com/ with your receiving address

Ok, so I checked and confirmed they sent me the bitcoins using blockexplorer.com. And I clicked the blockcount website and a number came up. What do I do now? Thanks for the help!

In the bottom right of your client, it says how many blocks the client knows about. If that's not the same as the number that came up on the site, then your client hasn't seen the transaction yet. Just wait a while, it should pop up. (Also, "connections" should probably be > 8 )
