Ethereum wallet for staking

I can't seem to find the answer to this question either on bitcointalk or elsewhere on the internet.

When Eth goes proof of stake, is there already in existence a designated wallet from which holders can stake it?  At the moment I'm holding my Eth in a hardware wallet but I'm sure I wouldn't be able to stake it from there.  Does anyone know about this and perhaps have a link, or is this something that is so far unknown?

I also can't find an answer to when the pos change is supposed to be made.  I saw a thread about this earlier but there was no link and my searches turn up old articles.  Thanks.

I think it will be the same to other newer POS coins that it will be on a contract and the wallet wont be a requirement to run the staking feature.

Thank you for the link.  The Eth has to be stored in a wallet according to the article:

A staking deposit or “stake” is held for a fixed term of 3, 6, 9, or 12 months in an Ethereum staking wallet synched with a smart contract. Your supply of ether will grow as long as you are holding ETH in an Ethereum staking wallet.

It specifically states 'staking wallet' so I'm wondering if there's one yet to be released or if you can hold the Eth in your own wallet...I have to admit that I am no expert in ethereum or smart contracts but someone has to be in control of those coins being staked, right?

Its in a smart contract, the contract will run itself unless they will secretly insert a code/command that enables someone to move the funds.
Lets just wait if they are going to build a wallet for easier accessibility

This would be similar to the ONT staking feature, which is also a staking in the smart contract.

imo, unless you plan on being super secure and a bit of a whale, i would just wait for exchanges to offer it
kucoin and binance i bet will offer shared staking pools

I can't figure that out either.  Last I heard it was going to be at least a couple of years, but now I really don't know.  And yes I'm probably jumping the gun in anticipation but I do find it exciting.  Proof of stake coins are an interest of mine and have been for some time.  They're friendlier to the environment than pow coins are, and make it way easier to earn too.

I am by no means a whale, and I'll have to see what happens.  In the meantime I guess I'll just keep my Eth in my hardware wallet until something's announced.

for now, of course ETH still on PoW right now. and PoS system is not released yet.
and if u asking when PoS begin ?
according many many and many articles i read , Phase zero of ethereum 2.0, which enables Proof of Stake (PoS), is targeted to launch on the 3rd of January 2020.

Major staking for eth will go back its liquidity again but Im just concern because eth has no fixed supply an infinite one. I dont think if they launch POS, the circulating supply should be fixed so to maximize the value of eth. Just hoping eth would do this in any case. If the total supply would just increase in the future then there is no bearing doing a POS coin for eth.

You are in a hurry. The transition to Ethereum 2.0 will not be fast. It will take several years. You will not be able to immediately access your Ether in the new blockchain.

The shift to POS is scheduled tentatively Q1 of 2020 it woudlnt take several yrs. but if you mean overall improvement then might be yes because heavy testing and research must be done properly.

This is the information i want to know, thank you for the source too.
If they really change ethereum into a Proof of Stake coin, then the miners of eth must change their mine target.
Other ethash coin difficulty will be rising because of this, and the price will rising, so i think now is the best time to accumulate other ethash coins.

I also heard that eth will stay still with POW to continue mining the coin with mixture of hybrid POS for staking purposes. Ive seen some projects like this using double mechanism. I think veil it is, the one that is a privacy coin that enable both mining and staking. I think eth will be at the verge of fomo by many during that time as eth is really have a good team working on the ground. January 2020 is few months from now and I can feel how eth will evolve so quickly.

Indeed this is good news for some people who invest in ETH, ETH prices right now are not good, and everyone is waiting for surprises from ETH like 2017, and I believe the ETH team that has very good performance will provide the best service for ETH, so not a few ETH is one of the currencies that investors aim for.

Hi, be careful when you trying to find ethereum staking wallet, you may end to some phishing webs,

I suggest you to keep using the official ethereum wallet to keep your ETH before they officially release for staking.

We just have to wait till next year when they will release their Ethereum 2.0 that has this feature to really know how Ethereum intends to go about this staking plan and their plan for their wallet holders if it will require them to make any move further to migrate their wallet to a specified one that is designated for this, or if Ethereum will automatically even migrate everyone to it or leave the option for someone to either join or not.

I am sure that they will design something that will really not give people much stress about that when the time comes, so we should not jump above our shadows, if you have not gotten any update from the team as regards this, then there is no one that will give you right answer.
