It's safe i have used it for sometime but i have yet checked out the new update. Previously you were just able to import API keys from you favourite exchange and then you would be able to make trades and track your portfolio changes. It was working as a gridbot, trading tool like tabtrader and a portfolio tracker.
I don't know how it works now after the update and partnership with binance.
You can still do exactly this - but the Binance trader exchange is a new part of 3commas. You are not forced to use it but you can for free if you wish. They take the profit through referral fees.
Ive been with 3comma's for many years now and I have great trust in them. I dont personally use the free account due to the fact I like to control my funds but for the basic users its great for simplicity.
I do think (I could be very wrong) there is an agreement / failsafe in place to prevent an exit scam. Its all legit as they posted photos at the Binance office and Binance tweeted about it themselves.
This news article gives a bit of confidence too -
