I've seen discussion on Pangolinminer being non-responsive or going under, but they just announced this new miner and claim to be shipping within 5 days. Thoughts?

Two versions with same 65W/TH efficiency. 48TH @ 3120W and 53TH @ 3445W. Probably not efficient enough for most based on more efficient gear that's been out for about a year now.

Well Pangolinminer has been mostly silent regarding their Whatsminer orders.  This past week though they have been active again on telegram and it looks like units have begun shipping or arriving at the hosting facility. I imagine the hiccup from MicroBT was worse than first reported. Who knows though, I PM'd them a few times addressing their lack of customer support in the bad patches is not the way to operate, though it would only get better for a day or two.

This gear looks nice, I'm someone who can make due with the 65W/TH zone. Still a power hungry monster, would be nice to get something below 2400 Watts just as efficient. I don't think I would want the 53TH model in case it was understating it's power draw. For now anyways, the problem as always is new company with unsubstantiated claims. So until these are in the wild, giving those results, and people can test the RMA supply chain it's a gamble. This might be a way for them to try and diversify away from only having one manufacturer in case of further supply chain problems.

Can not use them  any more. I suspect they broke a lot of rules including taking gear apart and cherry picking hash-boards.

If you really look at what microbt has said in some reports and read around telegram pangolin has done wrong or is being scapegoated by microbt.

Since microbt is choosing to only toss pangolin under the bus in a very careful manner BTW I would think  something is suspicious. Thus pangolin found a

new company to sell for.

Yea lol nope.  Not efficient enough to justify that price considering bitmain t17 is more efficient and way less money, and accepts paypal.  You would have to be crazy to buy from microbt currently.  They can't deliver the current units on time but want to add more to sell?  Yea.. big no from me.

Let's do some math

Price per th is almost the same on both gears, efficiency is on T17 side, bitmain "usually" deliver on time , have bigger community and the list goes on and on , I don't think it's wise to get this gear for the price listed , it needs to be a thousand dollars or less for it to compete with the T17.

Exactly, and end of day, if both are around same price, the efficiency is main point.  Not to mention bitmain, has been delivering pretty much dead on time all year long.  Whatsminer... well, not so much.  1 month delay would toss your earnings to hell right off the bat.

You know what's even worse for this set of PangolinMiner hummer and probably all Microbt gears  ? bitmain has released a dozen of coupons starting from 153$ coupon for those who bought T17 42th for 1130$  all the way to a 1328$ coupon for those who paid 2727$ for S17 53th batch  (2019-12-21 to 2019-12-31).

These coupons never sell for 100% of their value, so people now can buy these coupons and save even more on all bitmain gears, Bitmain are screwing everyone who competes against them, including their own clients obviously.

I purchased a s17 pro 53th  listed at 2000 for 1400 with a six hundred dollar coupon.  ships  in 7 days

this pretty much kills any other deal offered.

oh BTW I used paypal and got six months to pay it with zero interest.

Just out of curiosity, do you still pay tax for the 600$ you used the coupon for? as far as i know they don't include the coupon amount in the bill , also keep in mind the price you had to pay for the coupon, or if it was yours, keep in mind the price you could have sold it for, i know some 500$ coupons went for 390$ so that's only 110$ saving , the 600$ would have a bit more saving on it, so if i had to toss a random number I would say you could get at least 400$ for that coupon, so you actually paid 1400$+400$  at best case scenario.

but hey S17 pro 53th for 1800$ is still a good deal to be honest.

i did consider selling it.

since it is due in 7-9 days. i decided to get the gear.
