It's a recent article from CoinTelegraph! So without going to the details, I will just quote the exact statement of Tim. He said,

Quote
I thought it was a good move; he is getting rid of corruption and trying to create a corruption-free state, but by blocking Bitcoin, he is creating more corruption and I think that is very dangerous for the country,

Reference: https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-ban-means-india-will-get-more-corrupt-under-modi-tim-draper

Do you think on a similar line? Or is it other way around for you?

Tell Modi that Bitcoin came out of a Cow. He will accept it. Or give lecture in some temple that Cow milk contains hashes of Blockchain data. People will drink that up like tea..

I could not stop laughing looking at this comment  Cheesy. The BJP government does love the cow very much but the difference is that they will not allow the people in India to eat but they will not have any problem exporting all those meat .

I do not know whether India will become more corrupt if they ban bitcoin, there are levels of corruption and it is at the highest level for decades and if the government bans it then people will still trade and they cannot do anything about it.

Lol! That's true mate! We are actually going back in time with this current government of India! They are more bothered about Ram Mandir than to bring the economy back on track! Recently a BJP leader said in a public meeting that, Cow milk contains gold! That became a new internet sensation now! Stupid leaders!

Or maybe tell them that how Bitcoin's original logo is not colored orange, it's "Bhagva Rang" which means Bitcoin too signifies Hindutva.  Grin Grin This game is really funny.

On the serious note, I don't think what Tim said is anywhere true and justified. He just made a statement and didn't even gave a reason behind it. Bitcoin atleast at this stage is anonymous which means we might be able to track the addresses from which the funds are moving but tracking the owner of these addresses is not possible. So how can ban on Bitcoin increase corruption?? I think all ban on bitcoin would do is reduce it's usage for normal people like us. Tech freaks, big businessmen, politicians & criminal would still continue to use cryptocurrencies to hide their deeds.

What I think is, if the Indian government bans bitcoin then the people will find an alternative method to use bitcoin which might corrupt India further.
So in a way, what Tim said might actually become true and yes it is possible that alternative methods will be found to continue using bitcoin in India if at all it is banned.

Banking ban is still in force mate! So in a way, bitcoin or another crypto trading is banned in India! But does that mean, people have stopped using that? Not at all, p2p tradings are ongoing in full force and people are making good amount of profit from it. So alternative method is already there! In the meantime, Indian government is loosing on taxes and job opportunities big time!

No legality can stop bitcoin and its trading. If method A is banned, people will be using method B! There's always a contingency plan available in the world of blockchain!

I don't think it's anymore the same now, as it was. If you are not having co-operation from banks, it's very much tough to get p2p trading for bigger amounts of exchange. In fact, it's not possible in most of the cases. With Bank, we could have it more easier.
I'm not exchanging much though, looking towards the future- an India with a lot of Bitcoin ATM in all of its Region. All the shops accepting BTC with LN networks. Well, we will have it.

Ignorance of government officials about the crypto currencies made cryptos were banned by banks, still they are not trying to figure out what are the benefits of allowing it,they just want to shut down then they say can we are corruption free country. Grin

Modi may not have time to analyse these things because he is busy with exploring the world. Roll Eyes

Maybe in the next election they will talk about this.Because Ayodhya issue has been resolved so playing it will no more possible.

To educate the govt and the people of this country, we are putting across the first crypto focussed conference in India. It's going to take place in Bangalore from Jan 9-Jan 11, 2020 for the anniversary of bitcoin's genesis block.

Most events that happen in India are only blockchain based without the crypto aspect of it. This is creating a negative image for crypto.

Do register for the conference and shoot me up if you have any queries.

I am glad seeing all the response that when it comes to the orange fools everyone feels the same  Cheesy.
The government can blind the Indian fans who listen to what he says but the world media is releasing all the corruption news of the 7.8 billion Euro to purchase 36 Rafale fighter planes from France and the recent  $2 billion bank fraud by the state owned Punjab National Bank.

You can read the article from forbes corruption is still thriving in modis india

Considering all this i wont be surprised if they ban a transparent economy like bitcoin.

Bitcoin ban will mean that the democracy talks in our country are just talks and we are still the slaves who can't use their rights to stop these assholes from what they are doing these days. BJP (BHharat ki Jhand karne wali Party) is sucking the mango people (aam aadmi) literally like they eat mangoes. Saale chus chuske fekte jaa rahe hain, and and seriously, agar inhe apni Gau Mata jesi country India ko bechke koi fayda hota ho to ye usse bhi pichhe nahi hatne wale. Not against any party but talking about the ruling party because they are the only ones who will be deciding our and the country's future. Yes, "our" isliye kaha kyunki ye log kitne hi logon ko beggar beghar aur laachar bana rahe hain, aur country ka koi future hai hi nahi kyunki his tarah ye Sarkar hume chala rahi hai, I don't think hum mein se koi bhi khudko is desh ka "NAGRIK" kehlana pasand karega.

Anyways, let's talk something serious, even if it gets banned in India, we've got so many ways to trade crypto, the only thing it'll involve is risk but uske bina kuchh possible hai hi nahi. Mountain Dew piyo, risk uthao aur khulke jiyo. Wink

How do you think is it possible to get caught in the first place? I haven't seen any person in my circle (who trades with almost 100% anonymity except the bank account, some even use third party accounts to keep themselves safe from being caught that way too) have been contacted by any banks or Gov authorities as they know how to play safe. You need little bit of patience and lots of awareness to get it done under the hood and never get caught.

Rapists will surely reach their destination - death, very soon when people will start taking laws in their hands and then break them (which is already started since CAA has been proposed).

Crypto holders are not criminals and hence, even if these guys will make any fucking laws to stop us, we've even got a list of law-abiding people involved with us who'll help us in evading those laws. I don't really want to go the bad way but if they want that only, let it be. See, some day, our Sarkar will start calling us "Aatankwadis" or "Naksalwadis" if we keep doing what were doing even after the ban, but you know? There are some places where we are actually right and these bald-brained (dimag shave karva chuke hain ye) dicksuckers are wrong.

I did mention that "EVEN",anyway it is not possible with the system to be honest.

Indian government is busy in playing Hindu political games so they may not have enough time for regulating cryptos which is far away from their knowledge.

CAB is the hot news, but they still silent on the shabas, especially Amith Shah. Roll Eyes

Tell Modi that Bitcoin came out of a Cow. He will accept it. Or give lecture in some temple that Cow milk contains hashes of Blockchain data. People will drink that up like tea..
Sad thing.. our India may be free our mindset are not..

Its surprising & funny to see how a simple query related to Bitcoin banning & corruption turned to Modi bashing and cow Smiley

Since, its crypto forum, we tend to take ourselves too seriously and think bitocin/crypto is playing a large part when the reality is, it is far from anyone's  mind whether government or general public. Government is least concerned about crypto - its just too small a thing to think about. In a country of the size of India, I feel there won't be more than 500,000 people who really understand crypto or actively trade/invest in it. When this is the scenario, I don't think there is not much correlation between corruption and banning bitcoin in India. There are much more bigger things/activities which leads to increase in corruption.

But as someone mentioned here, I agree the banking ban has lead to decrease in bitcoin/crypto trading in India. You just cannot compare it to P2P trading. I would appreciate if someone can share data how much difference it has made.
