I use to think CMC is the all in all, it got to a point that if a project is not listed on coinmarketcap i dont find it worthy of my time.. really sad, but now i know better. When i first disvovered coingecko was during a review for a particular project, i was so impressed as to the quality of information i got from there, so ever since the both of them have become my personal tools

CMC and coingecko both very useful for us, i used to use both however i am confused why many coins and tokens not listing in CMC but listing in coingecko, not only coins and tokens but also many exchanges, is this because coingecko become more popular than CMC, or for something else.

I heard to be listed on coinmarketcap they must meet several requirements and one of the requirements is they must pay to be listed there. so maybe because of this many altcoins and exchanges cannot be found there. and coingecko are different, they don't seem to have any requirements, because lots of coins that have just finished IEO can already be found there. so maybe this is what distinguishes it.
Where did you heard that? I only knew this is requirement before you are able to be listed in CMC one of them is daily volume. But this payment hmm i dont think they need this one, you are freely  request and send them  email for  listing but they are not asking for payment.

coinmarketcap now asks for payment for each coin that wants to be listed on its site? Shocked The last thing I remember is the requirement of a trading volume of around (only need) 10k usd. damn, I really have missed the news about the current CMC requirements. for Coingecko it seems that almost all coins can be found there and apparently there is no requirement to pay to be listed. (i don't know for sure)

CMC is more popular than Coingecko. From the beginning I was in the bounty program, I used CMC to see the price, exchange and ranking of existing coins. Coingecko does have more complete features such as ICO review, score exchange, coin score and many more. CMC and Coingecko can be used simultaneously to help us easily view coin information.

Af for me, I am using only CoinMarketCap if I want to learn some info about particular cryptocurrency. All top projects and Exchanges are listed on CMC, so there is no need to use extra resources.

So its possible that coins that are not listed in CMC could be in coingecko, I now see how they can be both useful. I just use CMC all the time when checking prices in the morning just when I wake up and somehow in the middle of the day til before I sleep. This is probably the reason why CMC ask so much for advertising on his site. Damn we all help them get richer everyday.
The more popular it gets the more demand it received and same thing goes for the exchange aswell and when there. By that they could just make the listing price ridiculoudly high by simply takong advantage of the overflowing demands. I remember the old days where listing coin into such platform is as easy as getting into a dex exchange nowadays their number one source of income are from the advertisement and listing fee so I can see why they are setting such ridiculous fee.

CMC and Coingecko gives good updates about a cryptocurrency coin. Cmc is the standard one , because most top projects are updated there. No investors is fully satisfied if the project is not listed on CMC. Coingecko is also useful, I feel comfortable using Coingecko to know the exchange which a token is traded. It's direct and very informative.

As mentioned earlier, cg differs from the cmc in various rules in listing projects on these platforms.
Personally, I use both. If I need to find out the price of a coin that is not at the cmc, I always go to coinge.

CG seems to me to be a much more honest site than the CMC, but I absolutely dislike the design, it is too simple, too primitive.
I can’t find fault with such a useful and extensive functionality that CG provides, I don’t like the design at all, therefore most often I use the CMC to view prices and graphs.

It's all about your habits. I've been using coinmarketcap from the very beginning. I like to use other features, although exchanges data are often manipulated.
I especially like the mobile application of coinmarketcap; it has fantastic detail and is also very useful.
As a result, both platforms serve the same thing, which depends entirely on your habits.

Not entirely true as they are also listing tokens that are trading on tier 2 or 3 exchanges. But I guess it is a safe bet to assume they are focusing more on the bigger "names" and  the ones that are listed on premium exchanges, true. But then again, being listed on CMC takes some time even if you are a mid-sized project.

Cmc and coingecko both have requirements to list any coin but i am sure that CMC listing price will be much higher because of its popularity and oldy than coingecko, i don't rely on any of them and i still do my research very well on any project

Coingecko is a latecomer and they have to try hard to keep up with CMC. But getting listed on the CMC is not an easy one. They must pass moderator tests to be listed on the CMC.
Coingecko is considered a site to search for many shit coins, it does not carry a quality.

The fact is that getting on cmc is much more difficult and therefore, at first many companies list their tokens on coingecko, and companies which have cryptocurrency exchanges list their exchanges on coingecko, and then on cmc, but it happens and vice versa from various situations.

Coingecko is relatively a new services whereas coinmarketcap is serving crypto community for years and as they are paid services there is only limited coins/tokens are being listed on coinmarketcap. But, not sure about coingecko whether they are listing after a fee or simply listing all the coins and token so that they may get familiarize among crypto users (usually all the services are started as a free one and once they get decent traffic then they do turn as paid services).

If you are using these things only for reference purposes then you will be fine. I am seeing some people are going to invest blindly on top 20 or 50 coins of coinmarketcap but I am sure that they are the ones who not aware of manipulated listing on coinmarketcap. Also, coinmarketcap was accused for manipulated exchange volumes.

They are both useful websites, the only thing i use CMC for mostly is viewing new projects that get listed on CMC, i don't use this website to decide which coin is good or bad, but they are both good if you want to know more about a particular coin or token, all informations are intact

I don't believe it is a draw back because many tokens are listed on exchanges but unfortunately, traders that own theses coins are unaware that the token in their possession are trading.
The CMC offers token investors a chance to have an overview of the price chart, volumes and exchange listing of the tokens in their wallet. tokens and coins don't create volumes and daily trades if we all hodl our tokens expect when TRADING is taking place on an exchange.
i personally prefer coingecko because it contain much coins/tokens.

Maybe it's Coingecko more popular, but any altcoin listing in the CMC should be listed first on the two exchanges.  Otherwise it cannot be a list in CMC.

That two web crypto listing is not competing whether where is good or legit projects. they list projects that need to be spread, because they are most popular and most visited web place that most of crypto projects want to give their information to every crypto users. I use that two platform to know which projects had the potential and interesting. although they have different features and services, we still have the choice to know more about the project they list and dyor for adding more information and own safety.
