I’ve recently heard that there are such things as cryptocurrency wallets that I can take on the go as sort of an offline crypto-wallet. What companies produce them and where can I buy one? I’m looking for a small one that can fit in pockets easily.

Just a side note if possible, please state any comparisons between different brands and what do you suggest is worth buying.

There's a difference between a portable crypto wallet, which you can install on your phone, and a hardware wallet. I guess you're interested in the latter.
You can google the phrase "hardware wallet" and you'll get all the offers. Probably the most popular are trezor and ledger.

As mentioned, what you are referring to are called hardware wallets. They are small devices, a bit bigger than a USB drive, which will store your keys offline and require a computer or mobile phone to use them.

Ledger and Trezor are by far the two biggest ones, although there are others available such as ColdCard and KeepKey.

My recommendation would be for Ledger. There has been a major flaw revealed about Trezor devices recently which would allow a knowledgeable attacker to extract your seed, which makes them currently a worse choice than Ledger devices.

You can get a Ledger Nano S for around 60 bucks. Their newest model, the Nano X, costs more but comes with Bluetooth functionality and larger storage, which is important if you own an iPhone (Android phones will work with the Nano S via a cable, whilst the iPhone will only work with the Nano X via bluetooth) or if you are interested in holding many different altcoins.

Ledger usually put on a Black Friday sale, so wait a few weeks before buying and you'll hopefully get a nice discount. Always make sure you buy directly from their website or their official Amazon store and not from a third party reseller, for your own safety.

As guys said Ledger and Trezor are the most popular (and probably) the most safe hardware wallets.

I personally use Archos, and it's good enough for me, but there is much more on market. You can look for opinion about:

Cryptosteel
Coldbit
SecuX
Hodler
Coolwallet

of course we here always provide input to people who need a little experience which is an obligation for us on this forum, and I think you already understand the answers to your questions beforehand and a little bit I advise you to be very careful about using portable wallets like trezo and ledgers or something like that if you want to buy it, you have to go directly to their official site don't go through other people to make it safer.

I think most cryptocurrency wallets are portable because most of them can be access through mobile phones and laptops. But if you are looking for a offline wallet, you better used ledger or trezor because both of them is a good quality hardware wallet and it can be trusted, so it is safe to store all of your funds. You just be careful in bringing your hardware wallet wherever you go because it will be difficult for you to recover all of your funds if you lost it.

There is a cold wallet just in a development stage name cold keys, I've seen their thread in meta: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5195845.0
Wherein, their cold wallet is in a form of card that stores bitcoin so you can carry it and use it even in emergency purposes. Though, the disadvantage of this kind is its content is limited. So we can still prefer to use ledger nano x or s, or trezor as it is the top priority of investors based mainly from their opinions.

The Coldkey you mentioned is a physical cold storage wallet and is only in FORM of card. I wrote it just to clarify that someone would not think that can use it as a normal card. Wink  And it is more intended for collectors and enthusiasts than for ordinary users. When it comes to its security, we will be able to check it when it will be created. Anyway, this is a very interesting project.

Some have already mentioned, but if you are talking about a hardware wallet that you can carry around and which does not have anything apart from its wallet functions, I'd opt for Ledger. Well, actually, I am not sure whether it's a good one, but it is at least one of the most popular choices. I won Ledger Nano X in a contest, and I'll get it in a month or so. So I have not used one yet, but from what I've read it's a safe and high-quality choice. If I were to buy one, I'd buy the one I won, because I really believe that it's simply the best one available Cheesy But you should do your research, of course. Oh, and as for where to buy it, here's the official website: https://shop.ledger.com/pages/ledger-nano-x.

Portable wallet hardware that can be taken anywhere is sold in the online market. The most popular are Ledger Nano S and Trezor. But there is another one that tells me it's interesting, which is imKey, which was developed by imToken. imKey has a portable form and is integrated with the imToken mobile app. to be able to buy it you can directly visit each other's website or you can try searching for it in the Online Marketplace.

I don't like the card options out there, they don't seem like the safest option for how much of a hefty price tag comes with them (I think its a bit more than 100 USD).

Ledger mobile support has been out for a bit now, and if you buy a nano s (around 50-60 bucks if you can get it at a discount from the ledger website), if you bring a dongle from usb to usbc/lightning, it will work perfectly with your mobile device, and it's probably the easiest and most portable hardware wallet out there right now.

Hardware walletnis secured to stored or couns investment for long term hold yes it's profitable if the coin stored in the wallet are pumping, you can use MEW or nano ledger, but if looking profits I think you are not looking wallet to make profits. If you looking how to make profit you are looking best excxchange because trading is the best to get earn profits.

There are broadly two kinds of crypto wallet

1. Online wallet - mobile wallet
2, Offline wallet. - hardware wallet.

They both are available in portable format. If you want to store your Bitcoin for long term then always go for hardware wallet. For short term or trading purpose mobile wallets are best.

Found this article you can read it to know in detail - https://cointikka.com/best-cryptocurrency-wallet/

Portable wallet or hardware wallet is the safest way to store your funds, especially if it is huge. I have a ledger wallet which I bought from a friend. Just be cautious on buying it online because there are instances that some sellers are opening it and getting the seed before selling them. It is worth investing if it is or your security.

I want to believe that you are referring to hardware wallet here because that is the only cryptocurrency wallet that I am aware of that you can move round except there us another new technology which I am not aware of, and the company I that I know can still be trusted is Ledger Nano, although there are still very popular ones, but those are still the one that I have been using too that is very okay, and the good thing about some of these wallets is that they are very secured, it is very much difficult to hack these type of wallets.

I don’t know where you live but I think you can Google it to know exactly where you can purchase it from. In my country, it is even easy to purchase it from an ecommerce store online, which is where I got the first one from.

For short term or trading purpose mobile wallets are best.
That's not accurate. Hardware wallets a perfectly able to be used for "short term or trading purposes", and moving coins back and forth an exchange. Mobile wallets should only be used for very small amounts of day-to-day spending bitcoin, which you would be willing to lose, if you don't want to also carry a hardware wallet around with you.

I have a ledger wallet which I bought from a friend. Just be cautious on buying it online because there are instances that some sellers are opening it and getting the seed before selling them.
Using a hardware wallet given to you by a third party, even if it is a third party you trust such as a friend, is far more risky. Even if you trust your friend not to have tampered with it, do you also trust them to have kept it completely secure the entire time they owned it and not have exposed it to anyone else who could have tampered with it. What about where they got it from? Do you also trust them to have bought it directly from the source. If you are buying a hardware wallet, you should buy only directly from the official site, and never from any other retailer, third party, friend, or so forth.

I don’t know where you live but I think you can Google it to know exactly where you can purchase it from. In my country, it is even easy to purchase it from an ecommerce store online, which is where I got the first one from.
No. If you are going to be storing your life saving's worth of bitcoin in a device, why would you want that device to have been passed around and handled by who knows how many people in the supply chain and third party store? You are exposing yourself to a huge amount of unnecessary risk. Only buy direct from source: https://shop.ledger.com/

Maybe before you use a "portable crypto wallet" you should consider using a very normal and free client first and understand how it works.

You know the stories about CEOs who lost their private keys or even just lost their cold wallets because they thought carrying it around with them was the most secure way to store crypto? You don't want to be them, buddy:)

Some mobile companies are genuinely thinking about pre-installing a Cryptocurrency wallet that would be something that people could use and it would be secure too ,

at the same time you should understand that you can opt for the hardware wallets which are made by various companies and the most trustable one is the Ledger which is primarily a French startup .
