When selling stuff here I tend just to post Legacy addresses.
Sometimes I will post a Segwit one too.

Someone just pointed out that I should only be posting native segwit.
I pointed out that it's my money and how I want to take it is up to me and they should go away.

What do the rest of you think?

Seriously since there are so many ways to quickly change from 1 coin to another and other options I can put up 10 forms of payment.

Without the hostility to other coins, if I can change 400,000 doge into .1125BTC in less time then it took me to post this do many of you really care?

If I need to convert to USD to pay some bills Coinbase will take my ETH just as easily as LTC or BTC or BCH or a few others.

I don't see how anyone gets to tell you what to accept (or not accept). Your (sales) topic, your rules.

I don't see how anyone gets to tell you what to accept (or not accept). Your (sales) topic, your rules.

They were implying that since I did not offer a Segwit option they would not bid.
Personally I think they were just being a troll but it did make me think a bit.

Also, there are some people who are BTC only and all other coins are evil.
So then you wind up in the loop of. "If I offer more coins more people might bid, but the people who are 100% BTC and all other coins are evil, might not bid"

Just looking for other views. Mine is as I said, so long as I can exchange it for what I want, who cares.

I mean... segwit addresses have their advantages over a legacy address. Native segwit (BECH32) on top of the usual segwit (P2SH) has some extras. I would say that if a person is keen on supporting Bitcoin all the way to its core, I can understand their requirement for "segwit addresses". Do you lose anything by not using Segwit addresses? Maybe. Do you gain anything by using Segwit addresses? Maybe. As Anon135246 said, it's your topic, your rules.

If you are unsure, you can look at online payment gateways that accept lots of coins and then autoconvert them to BTC/or any coin that you prefer and send them to you automatically, maybe that'll please your customers.

I prefer to see more Segwit adoption than less, and will try to point out the advantages of Segwit where possible, but I'm not going to threaten people I'm planning to conduct business with to forward me a bech32 address or else I'll pull out. That's just retarded. It doesn't even affect me at all since the fees will be high for the receiver using legacy address format when spending the coins.

They were implying that since I did not offer a Segwit option they would not bid.
That means they weren't seriously interested in the first place.

Bitcoin is all about freedom, so don't let anyone tell you what to do.

You are free to choose the method of payment and how to accept it.
I think that the user who asked you to use bc1 addresses was intended to help you save some money, as the use of those addresses will reduce about 38% of tx fees and therefore you can reduce the money (on the user & you) by ignoring those fees.

So take it as advice that it is the cheapest way to save your money.
