New rig RX 5700 or 1660 super, or wait?

I want to assemble new mining rig, the question I have is use the new radeon RX 5700 or the new nvidia 1660 super.
Nvidia is cheaper and consumes less power but has less hashrate. RX 5700 is more powerful but consumes more. And resale is worse.

Or maybe wait for the new RX 5500 or other series?

If you are assembling a new mining rig, then I'll suggest going for second-hand RX580s and similar series GPUs.
You'll be able to get them for very cheap. I've seen ~$75 - $100 for the price of one.
Optimize them and you can easily get around 30 MH/s per card.
At the moment, it's not worth to spend much on new GPUs just to mine.

If you are purchasing it for yourself and going to do different tasks with the GPU other then mining.
Then go with 1660ti SUPER as it will be much better overall.
1660ti will support tons of different algorithms to mine.
Moreover, miners for RX5700 is not even optimized.

If you have a budget

• Buy a new card
• If you have the luxury of time and not rushing it, wait for the new RX 5500 or any other new series

If you don't and decide to buy a second hand

• Make sure that you buy a GPU that hasn't been used for mining (yet)
• Do a stress test before buying the said GPU

It could give you the most bang for the buck for your money but I don't agree that having a second hand would be the most ideal one for setting up a new mining rig. The most common thing is that if you buy a second hand, it could have been used previously from mining and you wouldn't want that. The strenuous amount of power that has flown could have damaged and input high heat towards the actual device. I doubt somebody would want to use it again, and it might not give you the optimum performance too.

Thanks for the reply, I have many rigs of 470/570/580, I wanted to try something new. more eficient and powerful, but if you say that the new NAVI architecture is not optimized I will wait.

why not get a ryzen 9 3900x

i use it to cpu mine.  hell of a cpu.

what is really nice is you can upgrade a x370 and get it to work

i just sold a ryzen 7 1800x and upgraded to the ryzen 9 3900x

cost was 535-106 = 439. - 75 = 364 for a top of the line cpu.

535 for,the cpu and tax.
106 for sale of old cpu
  75 in coupons from retail me not and best buy.

i can  not complain. the cpu does 1400 hash. about fifty cents  vs 500 hash

new algo comes end of the month maybe it goes from fifty cents to two dollars.

I have had really good luck with the GTX 1660 cards and the 1660 super will do the same hash rate on eth as and 1660 ti while only sipping about 70 watts of power. The nice thing about a 1660 super is you can mine so many other coins as well if you decide to switch from eth at some point. The down side is the 6gb of memory compared to the 5700 with its 8 gb of gddr6 and 256 bit interface. I think you will be happy with the 1660 super if power consumption is a concern.
