I came across an article where - Emin Gün Sirer, professor of distributed systems at Cornell, introducing Avalanche (AVA), a new crypto protocol that is described as a platform for platforms. One such platform to run on AVA is Athereum(ATH), a friendly fork which basically replicates the ethereum network, including all account balances and contracts, onto the new network. In many ways it’s similar to a chain-split where 1 eth is equal to 1 corresponding coin, in this case, 1 eth plus 1 ATH (athereum). There is no chain-split however, there’s no contention or anything, but everyone who has eth gets ath. The reason is because they want to showcase the new protocol which is based on what is claimed to be an anonymous paper. "It describes a new family of consensus protocols that combines the best of Nakamoto consensus with the best of classical consensus. Huge breakthrough,” Sirer said on May 17th 2018.
>> Question: Do we really get free ATH if we have ETH? Will it be same as ETH?

If he do this correct, then YES, you will get 1 ATH for every 1 ETH. Same have been done with BTC when Roger Ver makes fork and created BCH. The question is, who needs that? For me it is another trick to make money, nothing more.

Do you have the knowledge of exactly when this will happen. I would like to know the authenticity of this fork news. Also i hope that there in no chain split as a result of this fork.

How do you think fork increases the ETH value? It's exactly the opposite. People think that after the fork ATH will be the new ETH, and after all it will turn out to be worthless just like BCH. The forks like this only bring chaos, nothing more.

this is nothing new! for many years people have been "forking" other coins (well mainly forking bitcoin) and then doing an airdrop to all people who own that coin. everything is usually automatic which may be the case with this one too. it is how "blockchain" works! when you copy the ledger you copy the history and so called "balances" so for example if you had 1 BTC when they copied bitcoin you also had 1 BCH, BSV, BTG,... each time. suffice it to say that any coin that copies another coin is a shitcoin by nature because it simply proves that the creators of that coin weren't even capable of coming up with their own ideas that they had to copy someone else's!

I think this is a fake announcement of any project that is going to pay free ETH for every ETH holder. By inviting this kind of promotion basically they seek your Ethereum address and a lots of personal data. After getting this and manipulating this data they reach your Ethereum account and steal all of your token and the Ethereum. So, be careful for this kind of participation and if may be legit so evaluate thoroughly.

You can really get ATH as it will be designed as fork of ETH, like how BCH do as for of BTC if the news is true. But the question will be what's the difference that it can offer to let us need it or shift to the original product that already can do the work and proven to survive even the dumps and pumps happen. I don't think there'll be a need for any of this as it will not get any difference for long term. It will only be good at first for free trade alt but nothing more.

What are you talking about? It is not free ETH, just free ATH for everyone who hold ETH in the moment of fork. This is simply copying ETH Blockchain and giving it another name. Start learning and stop confusing people.

Be careful when you try to claim any fork coin, we have seen many times that people get scammed when they tried to claim it through some website where they had to put their private keys.

Wait wait wait... I think there are some mistakes since: "after getting this and manipulating this data they reach your Ethereum account". First of all, there isn't any way to get any private key "manipulating some data". Plus there isn't any "ethereum account" but just a private key . This is the only info that save your coins.

If anyone asks for a private key, it is a scam. The easiest way to get a free coins during a fork, is to keep the coins on a confirmed exchange that is supporting that fork.

ATH and ETH are clearly different. ATH adopts ETH technology, as well as ETH based tokens that are already on the market. And I am very unsure about this ATH if ETH and ETH get a 1: 1 ratio similar to this in terms of price. It doesn't matter if 1 ETH = 1 ATH in terms of quantity but if the price is not possible. Yes maybe it is a gift for anyone who keeps ETH. On the other hand I kissed that this ATH wanted to ride in fame by utilizing information that the ETH would change versions to versions where this was true if a bulk purchase would occur.

Source: https://www.trustnodes.com/2019/11/10/ethereum-fork-to-give-free-a-eth-meet-avameh this happens all the time, i dont know HOW many shitcoins ive been airdropped into my ETH wallet in the last 5 years 99% of these tokens are garbage, i mean if they WERE so "groundbreaking", wouldn't they have their OWN chain? not depending on daddy ETH for their projects life? i always find that so dumb, tokens that wanna replace ETH, but run off of it... lol

Sounds like a regular hardfork and nothing more. Why do we need another unofficial Ethereum fork, because if you look back no single altcoin that was released not from ETH developers gave some money back.

Do you have the knowledge of exactly when this will happen. I would like to know the authenticity of this fork news.
Based on the Athereum telegram group, there is no official date yet but as soon as they have the date, they will post it on their Announcement channel. This is my first time hearing about this project so I need to make some digging about the authenticity of this fork, for the mean time you can check on the useful links that I provided below. But if it's legit i think the coin is could be worth it. Just don't ever giving away or entry something sensitive like password or private keys that could be something that can harm our wallet

No one is going to pay free ETH to ETH holders. It's ATH and not ETH. Don't get confused! It's a classic example of forking and similar incidents happened to bitcoin many times already! No ine is stealing anyone's personal data here! They are just going to replicate the account addresses and its balances to a new chain which is already available for publick viewing in ETH blockchain!
