For a forum where over 90% users store money by themselves, security is all that matters. It’s a fact that most posts here use hyperlinks. It helps to provide other users a reference. But hyperlinks, both text links and URLs could be used to hide phishing links
I’ll like to suggest that a software that checks hyperlinks be integrated in the new software and an add-on be created while we still use Bitcointalk.
When you hover over hyperlink on Bitcointalk (and other places), you’ll get to see the main URL linked to the hyperlink. Although I heard this can be manipulated, it gives me an idea. While hovering over the hyperlink, the software pop ups up a little bar beside the displayed url and changes to a green or red color which depends on if it’s been associated with a phishing scam, previously reported, a look alike or a verified website. Same goes for the add-on. I’m not a bad ass developer, but a simple, open source program would be great.
I know about some link scanners like URLVoid, kaspersky virusdesk, PhishTank among others. But since this is about a Bitcointalk community approach to phishing attacks targeted at cryptocurrency users, I’ll prefer a specific solution.
