Of cos top coins are the way to go, bitcoin and litecoin will bring wow to the face of many in 2020 and i am bullish on few new projects as well and they might be able to make it to top altcoins too

Bitcoin is the king and should be considered the top to hodl aside it, I also cherish BCH, ETH and some other altcoins research could serve but I would advice we do proper research before investing on any project.

China already have their list of top coin ranking https://news.bitcoin.com/china-rankings-37-crypto-projects and i feel that it is advisable to watch their list,  good investor does not trade against the trend but always follow the trend.

Bitcoin is still a good investment if we don't want to risk more in other alts volatility. As Link, XRP and ETH is also good investment that They can be good to use in day trading to earn. I prefer to have some alts too while acquiring more btc to held. For newbies and don't who prefers just to hold then BTC can be a good start as some alts depends on btc price too.

The top altcoins have held quite well lately in terms of price action. I think that's a first important sign of seller exhaustion, because there simply can't be sellers endlessly below a certain price.

The problem as always is which coin to choose.... just because there are very few sellers left, that still doesn't mean the price of every single coin will pump hard. I personally think that Ethereum will do well due to POS.

Another decent performer has been LINK. It's one of the very few coins with a chart that doesn't point straight down. I however prefer to buy something that has been dumped down a lot already.

It is not easy to determined what is a good cryptocurrency as an investment in 2020, the current market situation can be a reference for our investment in 2020.
I myself still think that Bitcoin and Ethereum is the main choice, the others as mentioned OP I have to re-consider, but if I have to choose again other than the 2 that I have mentioned I will pick Litecoin, BNB and XLM (for XLM if I finally get the airdrops, I will keep it for longer time).

as we can see that every top Altcoin always follows bitcoin price movements, so I only hold a few Altcoins like ETH and DOGE, I haven't seen other Altcoins with great potential and profits in long-term investments, because I don't have big capital so I buy Cheap Altcoin like DOGE

Speculation has done more harm than good to crypto enthusiast and the crypto sphere itself. We must understand that just one week can cause a lot of things to happen in the crypto sphere. Why speculate about next year when the year is yet to runs out.

I have invested in all these coins and earned profits as well as occurred fair share of loss as well hence I would not be trying Ripple again as that's the only coins from which I could not make up for he losses. I would stick to Ethereum, Bitcoin apart from BNB and TRX being the new addition to the list.

Well, LINK is definitely something you should look for
It has almost 1 Billion marketcap now but the API smart contract connections is something that worth more than billions
Automated smart contract to connect from API to API is really something especially with the upcoming 5G i believe

for me just to be safe ill go for bitcoin and just a few percentages to eth
the market is unpredictable and the risk is so high

I support your view, bitcoin and the top 10 on coinmarketcap i trust and hope it will go to the moon. I also bought the top 10 coins of the Ripple, XLM, LTC and ETH.
And I' m very confident in 2020, a strong year for the market.

if I personally would still choose BNB to be used as an investment, because I'm sure Binance Exchange will be the biggest exchange forever and of course if cryptocurrency starts to prosper again (like in 2017), then more people will invest in cryptocurrency again and of course investors will use Binance Exchange to buy or trading altcoin, so that BNB price will increase very high and gave me a very big profit.

Personally, I think that 2019 was not quite half the year, and even there was a time when the cryptocurrency exchange rate was pleased with good prices.
