I think its far more likely that he's exhausted his brain. I'm only about 20 or so pages into that thread, and its been every couple of days I've been going through them. He's been doing it for hours at a time, and some of them are from newbies which can't embed images so he has to go through the extra effort of navigating to the image.

Honestly it is my first time I witnessed continous hours of actively works in the forum from theymos. I know he probably does this but we don't know what he does behind the scenes. This time, with the art contest and his merit-sending activities, we have good evidence that he works hours-in-a-row for the art contest within last few days.

For newbies and restrictions to display images, I guess theymos probably write a script to automatically display images post by newbies. It is not too challenging for our beloved admin. I don't believe theymos does this manually.

Initially, he planned to distributed at least 500 merits but from now I think he might distribute at least 5000 merits. 

- I will give out a ton of merit, probably at least 500 in total, based mainly on effort.

I joined the contest and received some merits from theymos too, but merit is not what I truly care about. I would prefer to get this badge but I don't think I have chance to get this (based on merits I received from the contest and what top highest receivers got).

- Between 1 and 20 (depending on number of submissions) people will receive art contest recognition badges: , based mainly on community consensus of who had the best art. In judging consensus, I will be substantially but not entirely influenced by the total amount of merit your art received.

I hope digital art / design created in Photoshop or similar software are considered in par with physical art when giving out merits / badges / BTC. Not all Photoshop works are done in minutes. Some do take hours to complete.

Honestly it is my first time I witnessed continous hours of actively works in the forum from theymos. I know he probably does this but we don't know what he does behind the scenes. This time, with the art contest and his merit-sending activities, we have good evidence that he works hours-in-a-row for the art contest within last few days.

Theymos definitely does a lot of work behind the scenes that a lot of users don't get to see. For example, he has to do the taxes, mod payments, maintenance of the forum, and also maintain some sort of life outside of the forum. I'm not sure what his logged in time is, but he's extremely active most of the time.

I think theymos has been a little more publicly active this year, and last with the introduction of the merit system, and the recent bumping changes.

Initially, he planned to distributed at least 500 merits but from now I think he might distribute at least 5000 merits.  

I'm expecting similar numbers, but also the number of art badges that are given out because of how many submissions were actually submitted. I imagine those that have received over 30 merit from theymos on their art pieces are likely in the running to receive a badge. Definitely, something of significance to have a badge dedicated to the 10th anniversary which probably won't be reused in further forum contests if there are any.

Anyway, What theymos have done is really incredible on this anniversary. I am very fortunate to have been a member of this forum and an opportunity to celebrate such a scarce anniversary.
Therefore, maybe around 30 hours is left to reach our desired time. So let's celebrate this anniversary as memorable with our own fun.

Hopefully, this encourages these users to push on, and start contributing more to the community. Bitcointalk offers opportunities to its communities that you don't see anywhere else.

I don't say users who got merits from theymos for their arts don't deserve it. I appreciated their time to make their arts, with Photoshop, paints, wood, cakes, whatever kind of art; they truly made efforts for their arts.

But with talented artists they can do it much easier than most of us; but it does not make sure they are not good posters. As I said, they deserve merits they earned from their good arts but let's see how they will move forwards in weeks or months to come. They will be motivated and move upwards faster (in ranks and in post quality / contributions) or they will stucked with shitposts after likely satisfying with their new ranks (some of them hit their new ranks). It does not matter because if they won't improve their post quality (than before the art contest), they will stuck again. What I am curious is how they behave after the contest.

Much appreciated the work of theymos as our moderator. It reflects how good he is as an event and contest organizer as well as being a judge. For anyone doing analysis: When someone makes multiple submissions, I consider the merit I've already given them when deciding how much merit to give later submissions. So if someone posts two submissions to which I'd normally give 50 merit, the second one will get less. Therefore, it'd be most accurate to consider my merit awards in terms of total per-person rather than per-submission.
