Holding has favoured many but I do not appreciate too long holding , I hold and dump when I see moon still buy back so holding isn't just my thing and truth is, greedy people gets affected the more through holding. Do your research properly so you could know when to dump, buy back and hold or know a potential project to hold for long.  Not all you see you buy or to follow mere speculations. Do Ur research and follow up .

There were also some altcoins in my portfolio, which I had high hopes for, and held for the long term. But assessing the market situation, I nonetheless decided to sell, so as not to be in the red. And in Hold strategy I trust bitcoin more.

I have to ask, do you really know who those friends in your group chat really are?  Could it be possible that they're actually part of a pump and dump scheme?  You see a lot of crazy coin/token hype talk all around the internet and I would think that websites or apps like telegram and the like are infested with shills for all sorts of crap projects.

I have never even heard of the tokens on Op's list, and I looked up a couple of them (FUEL and KIN) just for the heck of it.  I think Op got caught up in token fever and held onto what he had far too long, and it's not a surprise that this was in 2018 just as prices were starting to crash.  Looking at the graph for FUEL, it hasn't done anything price wise in at least a year and I bet it never will.  If I was Op I would probably just dump all of those tokens for market price and invest the proceeds into bitcoin or Eth.  It may look like those tokens only have upside, but they could go to zero and probably will.

The mistake has already been made and you've learnt from it, so check those projects which still give updates and foster their project development like NPXS and continue holding, then discard any which is dormant. I always tell people to take profit when need be, assuming you sold atleast 70% of your holdings when you were in profit,  it couldn't have been this way. Your portfolio is extremely risky as you are holding mostly "older" alts, most of them have already been forgotten by the major part of crypto community and may never return on the paths of their old glory. But I understand that its extremely difficult to re-balance your portfolio right now as this would mean selling those alts almost at the rock bottom. But who knows, maybe we will again witness the hyper alt season and your "forgotten" alts will flourish again, fingers crossed. 

I don't think that time ever come when people invested without seeing the project well. In the previous bull run, every shitcoins gave good profit, but the bear run taught well the crypto community to support and invest only to best coins. So, I don't think the next bull run will help these old shitcoins.  OP should move on by selling these coins except the NPXS, as Pundix will have more big products in 2020!

It's a good thing you shared your experience with us, the reverse is the case for me as I made a fortune from holding, my case is different because I sold when prices were up even though I didn't sell my entire holdings. Sometimes the coins you sell off tend to go up in price, that's the irony with these things. The coins on your portfolio are not bad at all, but learn to hold fewer number of coins, I don't exceed 4 at a time. My candid advice will be to keep holding, let's hope someday altcoin season will come again.

Hold is a long-standing and working strategy, but it is not always relevant. I believe that we should always be in search of something new. Because the same strategy can't work for everyone the same way. There are many areas of earnings and fixate on one of them is unreasonable.

I agree with you. I do not think the mistake is about the system. Hold tactic arose from many years of experience, and with this tactic there were people who folded their portfolio by 1000x. Maybe the mistake is in the chosen coins, maybe in time, but not in tactics. Wait for the right time without touching the wallet a little more. Because if you have thoroughly investigated the coins, the only issue is time.

Emotion should be set aside and keep focus on your target price, you cannot hold forever and you should sell in time. Holding only makes you fool if its shitcoins because you are just waiting for nothing, it will never go up high. Be a smart holder, on the list of OP i can’t see strongest coin like btc, eth, bnb and any top altcoins. It was a mistake and we cannot deny it. No one knows on when the market will break at that certain time. And you are not the only who did that mistake you have your friends, and other people here. In addition you have also expected that it will be going through continuously since it rises up abnormaly that made everyone had a dilemma. I can feel you mate, we are in almost the same situation, who would have thought that this market will dump this low, but still we never quit holding as we believe the assets we are holding will change our future for the better.

With this long bear market, day by day, it might affect our faith on the coins we are holding especially when the team keeps silent, but as we hold this long, there is no reason to sell since its useless to get 10% of the amount invested and we might regret when we sell, next thing will happen is the market will start to have its own run.

In my opinion, you should give up in the end. As far as I know, the first and third altcoins that you listed in the investment portfolio look like failed projects. I do not advice you to HODL such rubbish. Other assets probably have growth potential.

With the other alts, you have to understand that the only beneficiaries are the developers. There are so many coins, why start a new one instead of helping improve an existing coin? Because the developer wants to make bank.

First they launch their coin, and maybe do a ninja mine so they accumulate before everyone else. Or maybe do an ICO. Then a bit of hype to get ordinary people to buy, while the developer is offloading to the ordinary person. Then once the developer has made a profit, it all sort of dies away. Rinse and repeat. If you don't sell during the hype period, you become a bagholder.

I agree with you. Typically, the developers of some altcoins are very active when they conduct a crowdfunding campaign and attract people to invest in their project. Such teams often use the business model that you described. They simply give promises and then intentionally do not realize their plans and fail to create a working product or service. Many altcoins live only a few years, so smart investors should cash out during the HYIP days, so as not to hold worthless coins or tokens in the future.

Yeah, I know them, though not personally but we are friends in facebook too so I know they are not part of the pump and dump scheme.
We are not that a big group, the group is just like around 20 who at the same time member of bitcointalk also, and some shared their accounts name here so I can tell if they are just shilling, or whatever we call it to mislead people.

Some of them are still holding, while some already sold at a loss, but me I would never sold at a loss because its like throwing your only chance to change your life for nothing, you know what I am saying right?

Holding too long sometimes is bad as we don't know what would happen tomorrow, but that's part of the risk as it's possible that it could give us a life changing future, just like holding XRP or XLM, both coins has pump so high and until now its still on a profitable price.

That's really tough decision but dont worry everything happened for a reason and I think youre holding wouldn't be wasted. I can see that youre holding is quite a load of good projects which some of it, I hold it too. Especially PundiX I still hope that this project prosper well in the future.

I agree with you. At this time, you should not sell any coins and wait patiently until 2020 because that year the trend of bullish trend will return. I think the market is making investors feel more anxious and if you don't keep calm, you will easily panic sell. In fact, this year is not a good time to invest but currently some coins are very cheap and can be considered if you want to invest in the long term.

I like to share my story being a crypto enthusiast, a trader and an investor at the same time.

I started in this forum in year 2015 when altcoins are still a good investment and Binance is still not the most popular exchange in the market.
I trade with Poloniex most of the time, sometimes I trade with Bittrex but then I realize that I am not so profitable with trading since I cannot focus on it due to the reason that i have a day job to prioritize.

Therefore, I started to invest for long term and I was entice by how the market moves and I was so optimistic that long term could really change my life.
So to make the story short, I invested with different altcoins and have help it until now.

Now, when the bull run comes, I still couldn't sell right away as I was getting greedy thinking I could earn more when I still hold.
of course, who would not HODL when all your friends in the group chat are also doing the same, even if the price rise high already, they are still saying HODL, and I really do it, and just sell a small portion of my investment to reward myself temporarily was I was into a big goal with my remaining investment.

And then, the correction comes started in year 2018, and I still didn't panic, continue to hold and even accumulate a bit when I see price has really dump a lot, just imagine ETH drop 10 times, so its really cheap and really tempting for any investors. So here I am now, I am still holding at a big loss but at the same time I am still hopeful one day my dreams will come into reality.

the word "HOLD" does not mean not to sell it at all until an unspecified time.
but if you already feel the price is worth selling, then don't hesitate to do it, we live not to listen to other people, especially your 10 altcoins now are fairly difficult to get up to touch ATH again because most of them are very shady.
