Are we all fools on believing the word "HOLD"?

That happens to me. I don't sell some coins which already increased at that time but only sold some amount to take my money back. That is normal for being greedy because we always want to make a bigger profit, but we forget that the price will not stay at the highest price for a long time, and there will be a time for adjusting the price. After the price gets down, we are regret because we don't sell more than 50% when the price increase higher.

Related to your coin, I think you can hold for more and wait for the next bull run. But I don't have the same coin as you, except FUEL and NPXS, and I still hold it until now. I know that it will be difficult, but I will always hold it until the price can increase again. Both coins have a chance to raise higher, although it needs a long time to rise.

If seen from your list, those were good coins when they were launched. If I were you, I would set how long I would hold. So this does not affect my mind when many people say to hold. And finally, it makes the hold even longer.
For now, I think like it or not you have to hold it until the price of your assets can go up because if you sell it now you will lose so much. Make this as a lesson that does not listen to the words of others, all of which must have a reason, whether the reason is for their personal benefit or for self-understanding.

And then, the correction comes started in year 2018, and I still didn't panic, continue to hold and even accumulate a bit when I see price has really dump a lot, just imagine ETH drop 10 times, so its really cheap and really tempting for any investors. So here I am now, I am still holding at a big loss but at the same time I am still hopeful one day my dreams will come into reality.

So top 10 of my portfolio consist of the following based on my blockfolio.

You are not a fool if you believe in the word hold but you should also consider the right time to sell. They are the key factors to become successful in the current market movements as it is like up and downs therefore if you buy while the market goes down and hold it then you can sell it in the peak of the market.

You will surely profit from your investment. Don't be greedy or it will eat you whole and your investment will turn to dust in the long run.

I hold ethereum in 2017 and at that time I knew crypto only in the Facebook group, many people said prices would go up and hold for a long time, but in 2019 I had lost many opportunities because I didn't sell right away. is looking at the renewal of every altcoin that I have, if the price exceeds the value of the purchase price that I have, then I will sell it.

One thing that causes big loss from holders is forgetting to research and understand the project that they are supporting. I don't get, are you saying you buy some altcoins when bullrun was still alive? that is a pretty wrong move, you should only buy when price are falling very hard, do not lose hope, the future will be better

I've also experienced things like you op always hold it and keep hoping prices can go higher. and finally I experienced a big loss because the coins I hold don't pump anymore. this is what is called greed and this trait I think will make us not get anything. I also learned from this experience. it's better not to hold a coin for too long. I will sell my coins when the coin in hand has experienced a 40% increase. and then take advantage.
it's better to make a little profit than nothing.

I am glad to hear that you are still holding your altcoins, for me, I believe that is the right thing to do.
HOLD is popular in the market but it doesn't mean it is to fool people as you can hold a coin that you think has a potential and I understand the moment you bought the coins of yours, you always think of its potential but here we are now, our expectation did not happen so we have to be patient.

If you can still hold for another 5 years if the market continues to struggle, I think that is the right definition of HODL.

Hodl is a good way to maximize your potential profit and a good way to not lose much more profit that you can get from that coins. You can hodl whatever coins you think is good for the long term but make sure that coins is the best coins to be hodl on. We actually have our own perception of what coin we believe would be profitable in the next few years because we cannot predict the market price of such cryptocurrency. But through the news that we can read from different sources, we can trust to hodl crypto. But for me, the moment when we became a fool in hodling crypto is when we aren't paying attention to which coins to hodl. We should have our basis or reasons before we decide to hodl to avoid our investment go to waste in the future.

Hodl is a good way to maximize your potential profit and a good way to not lose much more profit that you can get from that coins. You can hodl whatever coins you think is good for the long term but make sure that coins is the best coins to be hodl on. doing hold is one way to invest but hold must also have a strong foundation, if you do hold without knowing the aspects of doing it, you are wasting your time. so to hold it must have a strong reason for example when investing in bitcoin or altcoin that has the potential

if I were you, I would focus on just 1 of the 9 that I would sell and buy at 1 of the ten, for example I would sell 9 tokens by buying focus on 1 NPXS token only, but if their team is still active until now you can hold all the tokens, in my opinion there is no problem unless the team and the developer really have gone it will hurt you of course, the price might increase again but I can't guarantee it, good luck

If it was me, I would have given up but since you've been holding it in for a long time, just hold it and let it go, in other words, just give up.
if you sell it now your tokens no longer have value, one of them is Centra (fraud). yah, the rest token might be the same have no value (idk).
Your mistake is to hold the erc20 token, why not try to hold altcoin for example like doge, xrp, xlm.

In my opinion, out of 10 altcoins, nothing will benefit you in the long run. Look at me in the market, is there good news for altcoin, I don't think there is, so the word "HOLD" is good for coins that have great potential going forward, I know that altcoin mentioned by the OP has been on the market for a long time but doesn't think it's good to hold it in the long run.

Your mistake isn't holding. It's buying altcoins and having unrealistic expectations.

It's possible they grow sure, but you need that bullrun to happen. And you need it to be another 2017. It's not going to happen, that's my advice. Buy, set targets, set stop loss. Forget. More than that and you're kidding yourselves. This is alt we're talking about, not established crypto.

We are not fools, even the traditional market has its ups and downs. When you buy assists, you might have to wait for quite a long time to realize or make profits in your investment so I agree with the last part of your message where you quoted that things will get better again

Agree, Hodling is not a mistake because this is part of an investment strategy but in my opinion because the error is in the selection of coins that we invest. Hodling or trading is an investor strategy to make a profit and I think it would be better if we analyze every coin we will invest because many coins do not have liquidity

Holding it even we are in the bull market is a big mistake , there are many people has been experience this lost, becuase they believe that when holding it will increase its value sooner . if you are in profit  already take the profit and leave  dont wait for  dump will happen, its better to have sure earnings than gambling it for just hoping that it will increase more .

Yes, and it does include myself, having the same mistake as OP, instead of selling at ATH, I chose to hold and lost the opportunity of maximizing my profit. I was too greedy at that time and believe that crypto prices will increase more and will never go down.
So, now I learned my lesson and my current holdings will not be for hodl forever, I prepared myself to sell them when new ATH will come.
