Holding on is not stupid, but we take this risk depending on the market situation and also depending on what investment we have. I don't want to be careless in making decisions especially when the market is not supportive. now i see the market starting to recover especially the significant BTC price is a good opportunity to sell some and hold it for the end of the year, but if you have a lot of BTC. i have sold some to make up for my time after waiting 1 year and made 50% of BTC. I am not much of a trader i started as a bounty hunter in 2017 and earned so much tokens some of them i did not hold and they hit the roof and some it was a good idea to sell them right away its so risky now considering that a big portion of crypto tokens are dumped but we have seen some good ones too like uniswap and i am sure there will be others. now i only invest in bitcoin or ethereum when the price is low and i hold them until a big pump like the one these days

Holding it even we are in the bull market is a big mistake , there are many people has been experience this lost, becuase they believe that when holding it will increase its value sooner . if you are in profit  already take the profit and leave  dont wait for  dump will happen, its better to have sure earnings than gambling it for just hoping that it will increase more .

Definitely the best way to have profit on long term investment because there is always a chance that the price drop abruptly and all you know you have such a huge loss. Do not always hope that it will increase its value for a very long time. Once it hit your designated sweet spot that you think is enough. You should withdraw it, for no losing at all. You're not in a game so use your money wisely.

I have my own story. To me they both have their advantages and disadvantages and I believe if we able to identify or realise that anything that goes up definitely comes down then we can adjust our mindsets. Personally I larder my orders when ever I see a pump or rise and have now refuse to fomo after selling a particular coin

I think it's best to hold altcoins now, the HODL season is back once again after few years of intense bearish market, I regret selling my bitcoin at 17k last night thinking it will be tough to see more uptrend but I was damn wrong, now all I have left is my altcoin portfolio, this isn't a time to be in haste, be patience and get the reward

I like to share my story being a crypto enthusiast, a trader and an investor at the same time.

I started in this forum in year 2015 when altcoins are still a good investment and Binance is still not the most popular exchange in the market.
I trade with Poloniex most of the time, sometimes I trade with Bittrex but then I realize that I am not so profitable with trading since I cannot focus on it due to the reason that i have a day job to prioritize.

Therefore, I started to invest for long term and I was entice by how the market moves and I was so optimistic that long term could really change my life.

Now, when the bull run comes, I still couldn't sell right away as I was getting greedy thinking I could earn more when I still hold.
of course, who would not HODL when all your friends in the group chat are also doing the same, even if the price rise high already, they are still saying HODL, and I really do it, and just sell a small portion of my investment to reward myself temporarily was I was into a big goal with my remaining investment.

And then, the correction comes started in year 2018, and I still didn't panic, continue to hold and even accumulate a bit when I see price has really dump a lot, just imagine ETH drop 10 times, so its really cheap and really tempting for any investors. So here I am now, I am still holding at a big loss but at the same time I am still hopeful one day my dreams will come into reality.

your list told me that you are more bounty hunter than investor. atlant as i know has changes. atl can be swapped into other tokens. investor should know that
as i know binance launched in 2017. and it became popular because bittrex did not list any new alts.

It depends on what coin you're holding.

It doesn't only depend on what coins to hold, but also the time to hold. If it is the right time to sell your coins, why continue holding? We are not holding our coins forever. There should be a day to sell the coins because for some reasons.  For example, (1.) the price of the coins has increased significantly, or (2.) it is the time for cut loss because the coins are likely to have no value.

Holding coins doesn't make one a fool, it requires your smartness and continues monitoring from time to time, if you hold the best coins in the market you won't be disappointed later, hodl is for those who are strong too, don't expect coins to surge insanely in just a year, though it's possible but not every coins will perform this way

Do we have any update from the original poster? I think he needs to check again the prices and see if he can sell them now. You can be sure that these might have already risen in price and that you might have already sold some of these. I really would like to see an update from you and tell us what are your experiences so far. Not all crypto enthusiasts are rich and not all are fortunate enough to do trading which is a tiresome experience mentally and physically. If you were able to sold these at a good profit then that would be great.

Believing in something is not an act of folishness. It is better to hold rather than panic selling , if you think the alts or tokens you are holding have the chance to pump in future then why not HOLD ? So better to take risks when it comes to trading so that you will not regret.

hodling while the bear market is starting to control the trend will make you a fool but people are somehow holding even before. we have one believed on holding anyway. the old members were saying this and its just how it is. holding still works though and if you sell at the right time still is a profit.

today though is different because traders now knows how to look for opportunities and holding a stablecoin while the prices are sinking is a good way to get more coins.

if we would have a look at the current prices of bitcoin we unterstand that HOLD prooved to be the right strategy. I'm sure that many holders won't sell their BTC even at these prices. so keep calm and carry on holding.
