Are we all fools on believing the word "HOLD"?

I'd still believe in the word Hold for about a couple of weeks. Seeing it Rising in value I'll hold on to it much longer seeing how it will increase. But, once it's declining for the first week, you'd better do something as soon as possible, cause it might be a coin with no value at the end. Do your own strategy to act now or hold on to it a little longer. Its really a risk for trading.

Trading is 90% Patience and 10% Execution, so spend all of your time on the patience because patience is the virtue.
And also investing in fundamentally strong projects will also help you

It's been a year and few months since OP posted his portfolio, I wonder how they're right now.

Of course, you will get different things if you choose top 10 coins such as BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC or even DOGE. You will get a super big profit on the investment you make.

If you bought those coins at a good time or when they're still cheap. This time, it's not about how fast you'll profit from those but you have to project how much they would be in the future.

That's why long term holding is a good strategy basically for good coins.

For good coins but how can you determine the bad ones? Choosing isnt as simple as it sounds because there would be lots of considerations or factors or criterias for you to depend on
on making out some choices but no doubt that hodling could really give out that kind of opportunity to make money or profits but not all projects or coins would really be heading on the
same route or path on where neither they do pump or simply staying low in price for how many years due to lack of support and liquidity which would really be resulting into
some stress because of anticipation of hoping that much.Believing on HODL doesnt mean that youre a fool because there are really opportunities that do result with this
kind of step, it might not guaranteed but at least you are much aware.

Determining the bad ones can be done in so many ways. You ask people's thought in the forum.

You use the search engine and look for interesting articles and news that's made through it. And in that strategy, you'll have an idea if that project is good or bad.

Because you'll see people commenting on it whether with good or bad comments and you decide.

Holding unto your crypto assets long term is not a bad thing but i believe it should be done strategically and wisely, if you are still trying to grow your portfolio, then you should always form the habit of taking profits when price is making new highs so that you can reinvest when price dips. It is not always smart to hold unto your cryptos for so long and not take profits, you will only loose your gains when the market sentiment turns bearish.

the word hold actually if you have a very good coin will benefit someone, and even if it is really good the coin is like bitcoin it's clear if we hold it from 2017 when I just joined it will definitely get a very large profit, but if holding uncertain altcoins, we will definitely lose some of it due to lack of maintenance. I lost some of my assets, even the coins I owned were not priced.

I believe the HODL theory is subjective. If I have a coin that is trading at about $100/coin and the dip starts and I sell and the price of this coin dips to around -$20, would it have been wise for me to have applied the HODL practice instead of me selling for say %80 and buying back at $20 or even $30 which would have given me $50/coin profit then. I don't really believe I should be HODLing when there is an opportunity for me to increase the volume and profit of my Investment except I bought at low and will HODL till such time I am ok with my profits and do the above process again.

As there are many kind of traders too. Those who are into this market for quick benefits would not consider the principle of holding any coin that they've invested, they are quick to move and ride with the market movement both up and down they are willing to risk and engaged looking for any opportunities that the project will offer.

And there are people who love to look for long-term investment kind of investors who see the value of project they are aware that development and progress will take place bringing the value to pump high after some years of work.

Holding actually is the best way to earn impressive income in Cryptocurrency.  In the short term,  holding may seem like playing a fool for those that will dump on you but in the long term,  you will discover that you are the wisest of all.  There many examples that emphasize my idea all over Cryptocurrency.  Bitcoin is the most obvious example!

I'm not too familiar with the coins that you have mentioned. To be honest, shitcoins would put you into high hopes by telling you to hold for years which would just disappoint us in the end. If you're holding a potential coin that at least listed on top, I think holding would be the best thing that you can do especially for huge coins like BTC.

No we aren't fool for believing it but we must really be careful on what we would hold and balance our investment.
We shouldn't just pick up project we should also judge them if they could really survive for a long term hold see their real worth and their plans.
Not all of crypto is good for a long term hold some are only good for short term so we should know which coin is for HODLing and which one is for short trades.
So if you really want to HODL for a long time Bitcoin would be one of the greatest coin to do it and choose other project that have a good background and active on community and developments.

I like to share my story being a crypto enthusiast, a trader and an investor at the same time.

I started in this forum in year 2015 when altcoins are still a good investment and Binance is still not the most popular exchange in the market.
I trade with Poloniex most of the time, sometimes I trade with Bittrex but then I realize that I am not so profitable with trading since I cannot focus on it due to the reason that i have a day job to prioritize.

Therefore, I started to invest for long term and I was entice by how the market moves and I was so optimistic that long term could really change my life.
So to make the story short, I invested with different altcoins and have help it until now.

Now, when the bull run comes, I still couldn't sell right away as I was getting greedy thinking I could earn more when I still hold.
of course, who would not HODL when all your friends in the group chat are also doing the same, even if the price rise high already, they are still saying HODL, and I really do it, and just sell a small portion of my investment to reward myself temporarily was I was into a big goal with my remaining investment.

And then, the correction comes started in year 2018, and I still didn't panic, continue to hold and even accumulate a bit when I see price has really dump a lot, just imagine ETH drop 10 times, so its really cheap and really tempting for any investors. So here I am now, I am still holding at a big loss but at the same time I am still hopeful one day my dreams will come into reality.

So top 10 of my portfolio consist of the following based on my blockfolio.

Please tell me if I should still expect I will be profitable or just give up now already.

honestly I do not know any of these coins but I have not been here for so long, the problem with old projects is that they are old and do not follow the trends of the moment.
This factor is important if you think you have to earn or do HODL in a short period of time, the concept is different if instead your HODL is for example 10 years, consider that today cryptocurrencies are prevailingly used for financial aspects and very little in the concrete (or nothing).
If the projects you have chosen offer something concrete for massadoption, nothing is lost.

Ideally you can hold any established coin that is protected form inflation by the principle of controlled supply (this will not be applicable to those without such an algorithm, such as Dogecoin and USDT). And now coming to the new projects, the decision needs to be taken on a case by case basis. Most of the new projects have failed. But that doesn't mean that one of the future projects may end up like Chainlink or Polkadot.

Yes we are all fool believing on that before, right now I don't believe on it's only for early holders or adopters of Bitcoin, right now if you managed to do hodling you'll be losing your investment that only if the market is going down. It still depends on the belief of the person and his trust to the coin that he bought, we have different perspective about this.

IMHO the only one worth holding there is Bitcoin. With the other coins around you can play, trade, swap, stake, do what you like but the only one worth holding is bitcoin.
I don't buy into the deflationary facade of the new ETH 2.0: ether fuel apps and therefore they need to be used while bitcoin's a completely different league.
But you're free to hold the worst shitcoins out there, your choice.

such stupidity may be experienced by many people in this forum, especially for those who trade. Holding an altcoin can usually provide multiple benefits, but it can come with heavy losses after holding a cryptocurrency. I feel like that only once and I make it a meaningful lesson
