2018 wasn't so good because it started the year with all time high but then ended with a bad year. I guess everyone knows the number on much bitcoin went high during that time and on how low it did.

But looking for something this season as a "Christmas gift" do you think that we're still in a low after all the pumps and rallies that we have seen for this year? you should even be grateful enough that we're sitting on $7k above.

We don't actually know what will be the price of bitcoin in Christmas day. And I think we better wait for the possible price of bitcoin so we won't be disappointed if the bitcoin price drops over Christmas.

We won't be disappointed here either because if the price of bitcoin dropped, we would consider it a Christmas discount price of bitcoin.

We cant expect much from market or you so called santa on this christmas as prices are still down and have shown correction from these few days and we might see $6-$7k by the end of december so you can invest at that moment and increase your profit margin next year.The next year will show much positive impact on prices and rise to $15-$20k by the end of 2020 so lets hope for the betterment of market with increased adoption so stay positive.

Well, though we have been good traders and holders this year, I don't think Santa would fulfill our wish for the bull market to approach. The only wish that I want to for Bitcoin to have a better value this Christmas season. I'm hoping but I don't want to expect much because we all know that the market is really unpredictable. For this year, the only thing we got is the short bull run from April when the price moved from around $3k to $13k plus. Bull run does not happen before halving (I don't know for sure, but based on what I've seen), so the price is either going to remain remain stable with a little fluctuation up and down or it will get dumped. So, I'm only expecting the price to start going up after the halving, June next year. That was the same thing that happened in last bull in 2016, the price went up a few weeks after the halving.

There might be a bull run next year, a lot of people have been saying this for a really long time now. And I have also read news that whales are getting ready to invest huge amounts of money in bitcoins.

I'm personally going to create everybody in my family an ethereum address, and send each of them a bag of shit tokens.

Since they have no idea what they are or what they're worth, I'll just tell them to hold onto their 'present' for at least a decade before they try to sell it.

From the context that I could perceive based on the topic, I think it is not just the hodlers that will benefit most from the great upcoming increase in the market price. It is everyone that is involved in the cryptocurrency. Because basically if you don't have any holdings of crypto, if you see the market getting pretty well, you'll go ahead and buy some, others will go enjoy joining bounty, or getting paid in crypto instead of fiats even in daily transactions.

Interesting.  I figured that if there's going to be much of a movement in bitcoin's price it would happen *before* the halving which, if I'm not grossly mistaken, was the case with the last 2 halvenings.  But in either case you're most likely right that the real christmas will be linked to the event.

This thread is a bit confusing to begin with but if I'm understanding Op right, he thinks we'll get a big price increase by christmas?  And even tho he started the thread in november and there was more time until the holiday, there was (and is) no way that's going to happen unless some really good news comes out to drive bitcoin out of its slump.  I've got my hopes pinned on next year, not this one.

I think that it is not necessary to compare the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 with what is happening at the moment and will happen in the coming months.  The fact is that the situation on the cryptocurrency market and in the world, in relation to cryptocurrency, is completely different at that time and now.  If you recall 2016 and 2017, then the time was the peak of the growth in the popularity of cryptocurrencies and an active pr-campaign, thanks to which information was circulated that people can become rich with the help of cryptocurrency and many people used these opportunities.  Today the situation is very different and therefore there is no reason to wait for the same increase in cryptocurrency prices.
