I agree that volleyball is a fight between Thailand and Indonesia, but basketball is with the Philippines control. I still think though that Indonesia will still fight for a better position in the medal standing.

Congrats to the Philippines,  being the host has its advantage, but to be fair they really put up a spectacle in the opening and they have a strong contingent specially Carlos Yulo, who would have thought that Filipinos will excel in world gymnastics?

You are 100% right. It is very difficult to compete with Philippine basketball in Southeast Asia. They are the best for the men's sector. I'm sure the gold medal will indeed be theirs.Maybe in this part of Southeast Asia each country has at least 1 sport that is very prominent in terms of achievement

With the stats above its very clear that Philippines currently dominating the number of gold collected so far and it means there is a big chance that they collect more number of gold once the tournament ends very soon compared other country, I will try to watch a live game especially basketball since its one of the most anticipated and exciting game to watch in this competition, go Team Pilipinas..

Singapore as usual has a lot of athletes whose nationalities are only recently Singaporean. I guess in the modern age it does not matter anymore,,, but good to see the power is shifting. Philippines sports is so strong if only other things got the same funding!

Filipino athletes are hauling medals. Such amazing performance from the host country. But, of course, more than the competitions, we win as one!

On a side note, I hope the cyclone Tisoy will not cause too much disruption to the games as well as the schedules.

Ofcourse for me because Im Filipino so I choose Philippines because also I see in the past few years there is a lot of good Athletes that Philippines have and for sure they will win a lot of medals.  I saw the opening of sea games there is a lot of people there who cheer and very happy just enjoy watching every games there and bless to the player who join the games because that is not easy.  Be proud what country you represented to the sea games and pray for them to not be injured.

The opening was an amazing and thrilling experience. Even watching it on television made people excited. All the countries participating have good players and winning is not the most important thing. A fair and passionate game makes fans happier even if their team loses. Sportsmen are famous for their struggles and guts. The government of Philippines has done a great job and efforts of every single participant is appreciated.

Speaking of volleyball though, the Philippines lost to Vietnam in their opening game.

Well as I have said they are not heavily favoured here. But they put up a good fight as per the news, they just feel short. Nothing to be ashamed though, Vietnam is tough as nails just look at the medal standings.

I just read the news that there is a looming storm coming in venues of the game.

MANILA (UPDATE) — A typhoon churning closer to the venues of the Southeast Asian Games in Luzon will follow the same track as storms Glenda and Reming which left scores dead several years ago, the state weather bureau said Friday.

Typhoon Kammuri was 1,470 kilometers east of southern Luzon at 10 a.m., packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and 170 kph gusts, said PAGASA.

The storm will be named Tisoy when it enters the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday or Sunday, said PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario. The 30th edition of the biennial games will be opened formally on Saturday.

From Tuesday, the storm will bring strong winds and rains to Southern and Central Luzon and Metro Manila, which are all home to SEA Games venues, he said.

So for sure this will be affected the athletes here so there might be surprises in the medal standings in the early goings of the game.

China will give some tough time and somehow, I feel like this is going to win badminton. What differentiates the team is their built-in thirst and passion. They really do not know when to give up or stop. Even if Indonesia or Malaysia will manage to win, it wont be as easy a task as it used to be. I was more excited about basketball, chess and all swimming games but the whole event is fun and full of thrill.

Thanks, thats my point of posting the number of athletes each country has sent in this SEA games. And surprisingly, Vietnam with less than a thousand athletes are giving a strong showing.

Philippines have been very good in sports, its that it just luck funding to sustain it's sports program and of course the athletes, but since the games is held in the Philippines, no necessary fundings like air fare or food for the continent that's why they're performing very well.

The food in the sea games athlete's village are so good or delicious that the Malaysian coach is worried that their delegates will be overfed 

The food is delicious, even better than those served at some hotels... and it’s open 23 hours every day.

I will bet for my country to be honest because I believe of the athletes preparation this time is more tedious than before I suppose and the government fully support every athletes I think that isn't far from possibility. I bet as well for Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand to bring most of medals but for basketball I am for sure we will dominate with it.

I'm amazed by the number of gold medals that have been won by the host (Philippines). I monitor from the official site https://gms.2019seagames.com/rs2019 the position of the Philippines is still unable to be shifted by other countries, most likely the Philippines will continue to be in its current position (first place) until the end of the event.

They are just beginning to coup up with the SEA games. Since they are new to this kind of competition, I think it's understandable that they might not win any medal. So maybe in the future if they have established their sports programs, they might as well be a tough competitor in SEA games.

It is understandable and noticeable base on their performances for the past Sea games. They need to invest on their facilities and training so that their athletes will be able to compete toughly and improve as well. Just like the other countries, they went through this kind of hardship.

The Philippine contingent is showing great performance, they are loaded with good talents and this SEA is good preparation for great things to come, it's good preparation for next year Olympic, well have athletes to watch out from the Philippines that will have a good potential in the Olympic two of these are Diaz and Yulo.

Glad to see the Indonesian Badminton men's team beating Malaysia 3-1 in Final and winning a gold medal.

Malaysia and Thailand have good badminton players and this will be a difficult opponent for Indonesia badminton athletes in individual numbers.

Hopefully in the badminton match in individual numbers Indonesia can get gold medals from men's singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles.
