Not sure what the problem on your computer is, but try other blockchain explorers. Such as blockchair, blockstream, etc. Blockchain.com explorer is known to be buggy afaik.

Mouse hover on the first graph and you will see total number of unconfirmed transactions. The right most will give you the latest count.


I personally do not much relay on blockchain.com data.

I think it depends on to where and from where you are sending the Bitcoins.. in some wallets it's already integrated .. taken an example :- zebpay you can just click on the transaction and then check after investigating a lil and if am sending the Bitcoins to localbitcoins.com then it already shows how many transactions are confirmed and how many are not ..
It it usually takes like 30 min for it to happen.

This number of unconfirmed transaction is good indicator how congested is currently bitcoin network but best indicator is information what average transaction fee is.

Actually I have seen some complaints about having a delay transactions in blockchain in which sometimes the transaction become unconfirmed and I also encounter some problems in which I am requesting to send some large amount of bitcoin, and the transaction was quiet long and after some minutes it becomes unconfirmed and my bitcoin goes back again to may wallet. It is very sad to experience those because waiting for so long and the transaction will just denied. Maybe the reason behind this was the wallet that are using by the other person who I want to send my bitcoin.

it's a useless metric anyway.

take this example: binance recently consolidated dust from tether transactions, broadcasting ~80k transactions at 1 satoshi/byte. that would make it seem like the mempool was really full if all you looked at was total unconfirmed transactions. in actuality, you only needed to bump your fee to 2 sat/byte to get quick confirmation.

that's why you should look at fee rates in the mempool, not just number of transactions. if you scroll down to the 3rd chart on this page, it shows you everything you need to know when choosing a fee rate: https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,8h

To add to that example, each of Binance's consolidation transactions were 36,792 vBytes, meaning 27 of these transactions would fill a block. If we assume an "average" transaction is in the region of 250 vBytes, then you can fit 4,000 in a block.

If you have no idea the size of the transactions, then knowing the total number tells you nothing useful. In our example above, 1 "big" transaction can take up as much space in a block as ~150 "small" transactions. Using the numbers above, if you tell me there are 400 unconfirmed transactions with a fee above 10 sats/vByte, I don't know if that means a fee of 10 sats/vByte puts me 0.1 MB from the tip and likely to get in the next block, or if I'm ~15 MB from the tip and am going to be waiting hours.

That's why the third chart (Mempool Size in MB) as mentioned by figmentofmyass is far more useful than total number of unconfirmed transactions.
