ICOEthics were investigating scam projects and they were doing a great job. They suddenly disappear on July 06, 2019, without any notice. The last post was about investigating another scam and suddenly silence.
The account is still on DT2 but with 4 months of inactivity. Their website is still accessible but hasn't been updates since March.
I really hope they are doing well. Anyone who has some info?

May be change of motivation or something. I do hope they are fine. By the way I just noticed the tools page is password protected which I can recall was filled with some useful information of the tools that are available in the market for free.

I was wondering to create this thread but forget again. However, most of time he had contacted with me regarding any concerns. Our last conversation was on 18 May, 2019. It was regarding a drama against me and some others trust issue. Since he was unaware about forum system like merit trust etc that's why he always took suggestion from me what he should do. I gladly helped him since he was a most active scam buster. Actually they were a team, not a single person. Even they don't have telegram to contact (I had asked about telegram contact).

I think they are well, because last time he were asked me about a suggestion regarding a project that I promised him that I will not share with anyone( nothing suspicious). What I believe, his team is busy with his other project and they are well. I don't think they have enough time to spend on forum if incase they succeed on their project. I am not sure if they proceed their project or not, I just guess since they are inactive.

However, I wish best of luck for them and hope everything going well with them. They have done lost of for this forum.

My presumption, ICO has been on the decline lately so probably the team behind [ICOethics] has lost interested to continue their quest to burst all scam ICO. Supposedly their website was been updated that would had been a different situation but as their website has also stop been update there isn't any useful of their continuous participation on the foeum since that was the only reason they created an account on the forum in the first place (to create more awareness about their exposed scams).

This development hasn't only affected ICOethics but most scam busters hasn't be that active as usual, some have already picked interested in other hobbies like @lovesmayfamilis. ICO aren't that attractive anymore.

My presumption, ICO has been on the decline lately<snip>
ICO aren't that attractive anymore.
Man, I hope it stays that way and that ICOs and the bounties that come with them die a quick death.  None of them are any good as far ask I know, which is why ICOEthics did what he did in exposing the scammy ones.

Hopefully he's OK, but who knows.  Usually members like him who were very active don't just disappear out of the blue, but it does happen.  Nullius was one example of that, but usually people might stop posting for a while but eventually come back.

he was decent, I have a lot of respect for the efforts he put in.
Me, too.  He was definitely focused on busting ICO scammers, and the forum needed that and he delivered.

So ICOEthics was a team? And not just a single person? If that is true then its really strange for them to all disappear all at the same time. Because if they are a team then someone can always be online as a replacement. Are they some kind if non-profit organization where someone cut their funding that's why they stopped investigating ICOs?my guess is someone had stopped supporting them that's why they haven't continued their work ever since, it's the only logical explanation I see that a team suddenly stops doing good in the forum.

That's why I raised the question, the scam projects are still out there, maybe not so many as before but anyway people still fall for them. I think I have to refocus our spam club to scam busting club as there is not so much spam as before ( focusing the Alt ANN section. )
Anyway, hope to here from them soon.

From my observations this isn't because of the decline of ICOs. There are hundreds of ICOs being launched every day. Although, something that has changed is the exposure of these projects within the altcoin section due to the bump changes made by theymos. Therefore, less users are being exposed to these scams, and therefore aren't as active in reporting them.

Only projects which are considered respectable or have a legitimate following seem to be bumped often now. Of course, there's always exceptions, and there will still be scams bumped. However, mostly it will be projects that at least have a good enough following from high ranked, and merited users. This doesn't mean they are worthwhile to invest in, but at least aren't the typical plagiarized content, and fake teams.   Its rare that anyone other than reporters that venture beyond the 10th page of the announcement section for altcoins, and tokens.

Their website is still accessible but hasn't been updates since March.
Since June:

Created on 2018-06-11
Expires on 2020-06-11
Updated on 2019-06-01

http://whois.domaintools.com/icoethics.com

I've tried to contact them but I didn't get response, really strange because we talked many times.
He was definitely focused on busting ICO scammers, and the forum needed that and he delivered.
They came to this forum only with that goal. I honestly hope the reason why they are not active is because they gave up exposing scam ICO's but I have that bad feeling that something else is in question  Undecided

My last interaction with ICOEthics was a week prior to their last post here. We talked about the newly added trust flags and how to use them against scam ICOs and honestly i didn't get anything to suggest that they might leave the forum. I tried to contact them outside bitcointalk but didn't receive a reply.

If i remember correctly they did have a problem with some sicko from Australia, maybe some of you remember him...David Turner. This guy was spewing threats left and right and even hired lawyers to go after ICOEthics.

Quote from: David Turner
This ICOEthics guy will go down like a bag of shit. We will find who he is and he will be stricken off the bloody internet. And I will sue him so bad, he will never know what's come up across him. He's gonna pay all the damage that he's done...

A visual illustration of the quote above can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlZILsPfz2E (3:10 mark)

I hope they are okay!

my guess is someone had stopped supporting them that's why they haven't continued their work ever since, it's the only logical explanation I see that a team suddenly stops doing good in the forum.
It's clear from their reply here that they are a team but never said how many they were.
Also, they affirmed that there is no financial motivation behind what they do:
We always did FREE work and we will continue to do FREE work for the community.
They even had an address for donations but didn't receive a single Satoshi.
My guess is that they are working on something more interesting. It's their call after all.

They only confirmed that their services are free but it doesn't tell anything about them not being paid by a sponsor/employer in doing so. That is why I kept on wondering why all of them suddenly vanish without leaving any kind of reminder for us in the community that is why I have a strong feeling someone cut their funding that is why they aren't able to do their work anymore since no one is supporting them. If they are working on something I think it would be obvious from a group if they are leaving any kinds of update from us but since we don't have any updates my guess is they just really stopped on doing their work.

I don't believe that the man who was an active user of the forum can just quit. In any case, he for the sake of interest can go to the forum and see what happened on the forum after his departure. I don't want to think bad, but it seems to me that something irreparable has happened to ICOethics.

He already once had a period of inactivity. But it did not last so long. Maybe a little more than a month. At that time, I wrote ICOEthics PM that we are worried about him.
He replied that I was always here, and saw everything.
Let's not think about the bad. There are different situations, sometimes it is a banal computer breakdown. And with it the loss of all the data for entering the forum.
If it happens that ICOEthics for some reason has lost access to the forum, we can help him. Some talked to him through private messages, and there are moments that only they know about. Thus, you can confirm your identity.

Not completely true.

We already have someone on the forum very active, almost 24/24 with huge effort disappeared in one day and never came back.
Yes, I'm talking about nullius

Some people are with this attitude if they find something their like, they will be focused 100% on their new activity.

I don't believe that the man who was an active user of the forum can just quit. In any case, he for the sake of interest can go to the forum and see what happened on the forum after his departure. I don't want to think bad, but it seems to me that something irreparable has happened to ICOethics.

Not completely true.

We already have someone on the forum very active, almost 24/24 with huge effort disappeared in one day and never came back.
Yes, I'm talking about nullius

Some people are with this attitude if they find something their like, they will be focused 100% on their new activity.

With nullius the things were a bit more different. At one point I thought it was theymos' alt which was just for fun account only to escape the high position he has and have a free chit-chat.
He ended up disappointed after the "love romance" he HD with alia before "she" was revealed as a previously well known scammer favours. So nullis ended up disappointed and just quit.

The case with ICOEthics its a bit different, as they had a "service like" work here disclosing Scammers.
I really hope they are fine.

I've sent pm as well with a link to this thread.

This is wrong, why are you writing stuff like that? nullius left because of spyflare aka Cloudflare a known NSA honeypot. Many users are refusing to join because of this reason.

Well, sorry if that the real reason, but I thought it was because of alia, they had a lof of fun together and after "she" was disclosed he looked disappointed, short after he just disspeard.
