It looks like some marketers have resorted to a new method since the introduction of the new bumping rule. I have noticed some newbies and recently woke up accounts posting here using "#" like this was twitter or facebook. I've also noticed that the accounts were promoting the same projects.

Take a look at their post history:

These #posters can be banned for spamming right?

These #posters can be banned for spamming right?
Using the # as prefix of the word can not be called as spamming in general however these users are obviously spamming and I see a lot of them are in the off-topic section LOL

I think Nuke is the correct move for them. 🤣

Agreed that the use of # alone can't be considered spamming. I only used that as part of the title since it was a common denominator, aside from promoting the same projects, among these accounts.

I'm not aware that were many # posts in the off-topic since I rarely check that board. Maybe they were moved there by mods.

A low-rank account with an old register? I believe the account has been sold to spamming the service or shilling their project/platform. You guys can check at his trust page, its a wake-up account.

I think he doesn't know the "#" can't be used at the forum, in article tags was used to search a specific topic related to the topic itself.

I think this is an example of whoever is behind those projects doesn’t understand how the forum works, or how different social media platforms work.

There are many major social media platforms that use the hashtag (#) for measuring what is ‘trending’ (another feature the forum doesn’t use), and as a way for users to search for certain topics of conversation. But not all of them do.

They are copy pasting word by word from social medias like twitter and Facebook. Such hashtags work in these platforms. They don't even bother themselves to remove these hashtags.
I searched a few of posts made by these users through google. I found quite similar posts in Medium, Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, etc.
These users can be banned not only for spamming but plagiarism.

Or how the internet works, or how life works, or how anything works.  The lack of understanding is breathtaking--luckily I can't even view those posts since I have the sections on ignore.

And then there's the laziness component, which can't be understated.  These are just typical spammers who are probably all sitting around a table on a spam farm with glazed eyes and half-filled bowls of rice scattered around.  Guaranteed.  It's got nothing to do with the hashtag and everything to do with laser-focused idiocy which takes many forms.  All of those spammy shitposts should be nuked.

Been hearing such cases like this, wake up accounts are now being sold to spam different forums. As far as I am concern on '#', For twitter and facebook it is used to be on the same feed as others. However here in the forum we already have boards and section so it is not necessary anymore. But plagiarism might not be the proper sanction to them,  since using '#' as what i have said to be on the same feed, spamming will do.

Thinking about these accounts a little bit, and looking at each of their posting history, I think there is a good chance these accounts are probably bots. My working theory is that someone is running one or more scripts to post on multiple social media platforms. The script may randomize the order of the hashtags, and even the hashtags themselves.

Take a look at the thread posted by ahee29 for example:
The title is:  'Exciting news today on Burny Token reward Distribution!'
The hashtags at the bottom of the post are:
Quote
#burny  #blockchain #botreward #freetokenalert #brn #brntoken #cryptocurrency #freetokens

Compare this to an article I found:
Title: 'Don't Miss Your Chance! Participate in Burny Reward Bot Now and Get your Free Token!'
hashtags:
Quote
#burny #brn #brntoken #cryptocurrency #blockchain #botreward #freetokenalert #freetokens #cryptotoken #telegrambot
I bolded the similar hashtags used in the thread, although they are in a different order.

It seems that they are copypasting the message from others platform where hashtags are relevant.

This can be a telegram message.
