For me, I think this is a great move by TF1. Now that they’re increasing Bitcoin’s exposure in France, I would expect that other countries who are pro-Bitcoin or crypto will follow suit in the future.

Like Malta, for example, they’re calling themselves as the “Blockchain Island” as the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry are booming there. In Southeast Asia, Philippines, Japan, Singapore and others might wanna do this in their respective local TV networks.

This would really help people finally understand what Bitcoin is all about, not listening to others who are thinking that Bitcoin is a ponzi scam (which was mostly used by network marketing companies and HYIPs who are using Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as front).

It would really help them to explore more on Bitcoin aside from just traditional stocks.

You do understand it's not France or Macron the French government who is doing this but a bitcoin business advertising its services?

My point is that TV is probably for people who are not interested in Bitcoin anyway. And obviously the service is promoting itself rather than Bitcoin. Moreover, I don't like the tobacco shop part. It's a personal choice to smoke or not, but promoting it is not a good thing. Moreover, it's not a good association with Bitcoin is creates. I mean, it's not as bad as it could be, I guess, but a chain of cinemas/cafes/shopping malls would be better. while its true that people who are watching tv doesn't have interest in BTC, its still a good promotion to make it look less evil to the people who only heard bad things about BTC. 

but it must be pricey for the company to advertise BTC when there will be no money coming in from the tv watchers. too hard to make regular people to understand how btc works and if they don't get it, they won't use it the fact that its new to them.

In Southeast Asia, advertisements like this still look taboo, moreover it leads to commercial related purchasing info. What I have seen so far is only educational services about blockchain and national events.

It is always great to see some level of promotion to increase the awareness of the existence of Bitcoin but my major worry is that this kinda promotions do not really educate people on what bitcoin is and how different it is from existing traditional payment system. People will not accept to use something which they do not really understand what it is. In as much that there are other advert of Bitcoin, the adoption of it is very slow. Once people get to understand the nature of Bitcoin, adoption will be fast and easier.

Just don't talk about in general because there are some people who like to smoke even if you like it or not. Tobacco seller may decrease in the future due to the new alternative ways of smoking like the e-cigarette or vape. Although the effect on health of real cigarette and vape are almost the same.

Maybe the merchant is trying to sell some e-cigarette with Bitcoin although I've read some thread here before when someone wants to buy a certain cigarette from a certain country while offering to pay it on Bitcoin. I don't know the next part of that if he did find a seller or not but buying any products is possible, thanks to Bitcoin.

There are so many countries in Europe where they fully accept cryptocurrency and its good that France is one of them. I agree that Europe will become the best continent to use cryptocurrency and there’s already a lot of project  from them. Pretty sure Keplerk or another company announced that there was going to be an option to spend BTC on cigarettes and e-cigarettes earlier this year, kinda sucks that it took them several months to get it implemented, although better late than never.

Not sure if it's the best idea to only let tobacco be bought with BTC, it sort of gives off a bad vibe of BTC (I understand cigarettes aren't illegal, but they aren't good for you either), I think there needs to be a lot more mainstream adoption, where it can be used to buy groceries or electronics before they start seeing any actual numbers.

Indeed, actually there are some stores in the Philippines that accepts bitcoin as a payment for their product and service. The adoption is improving despite of some people doubting it because they thought it was a scam, well if that finally happens of course they will realize that they are wrong for judging bitcoin. Yea. Although there are a number of things that make this look like a misconception, we see its overall importance. Please understand, this is not a promotion for bitcoin. Unfortunately, governments haven't reached that level of adoption yet and we aren't to the level where they are going to ask people to use BTC. This is an ad for a payment processor, just like if crypto casinos advertised, they are showing off their casino, not bitcoin (at least directly, not BTC).

There are massive fees! And it's not like swiping your phone at the counter, it involves many steps, having BTC, buying a voucher, and then redeeming it at those stores. Not really worth it, to be honest.

That’s very interesting that in France there are active approaches for their people to start engaging with Bitcoin as form of earning money, payment and storage of assets. I am curious of what were the lessons would they teach Bitcoin in the university and whether is an elective subject or for specific programs only involving programming or any related fields. Another thing that is interesting to know is the regulations of their country with regards of Bitcoin whether do they impose taxes and have bills filed in their legislation.

Advertising is actually a huge way to reach a lot of people , be because everything aside it helps making it much familiar with the normal families but one should understand it would depend on the channel it is being aired on and stuff .

A small step can lead to bigger changes and this small move by TF1 might result in bigger institutions start accepting bitcoin as well.

Is this true? Do you have to pay more fees to "spend" the coins in your wallet? You buy a voucher that can be redeemed only if you have an account with them in their wallet, or you can ask for the redeem coins to go to an external address directly but you still need to be fully verified. So, mandatory KYC no matter how much you buy.
Comparing the fee of 7% with other ATMs and the fact that some are not asking you for an id for 50 euros, yeah, the system sucks.

Oh, and no, they are not asking for anything else than the normal tx fee when sending bitcoins out.

that's not what I mean, in my country a lot of bitcoin news is aired and I'm glad it's aired on national or private tv but unfortunately the news airs around 12 pm, in my country people over 12 pm are sleeping hours, so who is watching that and know about bitcoin, I mean if the ad was shown above 12 p.m. or someone's bedtime, so who cares about the ad and people won't know about bitcoin

It seems France is now getting more closer and closer to adopting cryptocurrencies. Recently they started to add cryptocurrencies in their curriculum and now their local national TV is starting to advertise Bitcoin. I think this will have an impact on the community because this will get capture more attention that will urge the investors to invest in this kind of technology. I hope that there will be more countries acknowledge this technology because this might be a solution to their economic problems.

Now I've seen something great. Much faster way to spread the existence of Bitcoin. Although I find the advertisement still lacking? Yes it's good that they're somehow promoting it on TV but the ad itself, I don't think it'll attract people or will catch their attention. No intention of hating but it's kinda plain... I don't know either if this applies to other countries or in France but in my country, ads with storyline attracts more people. So I hope if this will happen in my country soon, it would be better to ad story.

and who does it , this is the question to be asking
the amount of money it costs to air such ads or a show is big and only rich companies or funds can allow it
if we knew who is behind the ads , would be able to gauge this companie's next move , potentially accepting bitcoins if it is some big name in the business
generally speaking , whoever adopts bitcoin first , I mean the country , they have huge advantages , like being a home to bitcoin exchanges etc.
