I have seen this written both ways, and I was curious are they both acceptable or is there a preferred way that "cool people" use? I just created my first site ( www.bitwhistle.com) for BitCoins or Bitcoins whichever the case may be, and I want to at least make it appear like I know something about the topic the site is about. Thanks, To levitate is hard, showing someone else is really hard. |

Use a lowercase 'b' when talking about the currency side of it. bitcoin.
I could be wrong! This is what I have come to learn lol.

You should definitely use Bitcoin because BitCoin is usually what people that have something against it seem to prefer to contrive it a bit.
But even Satoshi has used BitCoin at some point, as the folder were the "wallet.dat" file is located is indeed with that different spelling:
C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\BitCoin (Vista and 7).

Bitcoin is name of the system, the protocol. There is no multiple of this, i.e. there are no Bitcoins. bitcoin is the unit, of which you can have more than one, e.g. 3 bitcoins. "BitCoin(s)" or abbreviating it as "BC" (instead of BTC) is for retards  |

Personally I prefer "Bitcoin". I've been here a fairly long time now and that's what most people tend to use.

It's the Bitcoin symbol where the real confusion begins I personally like BTC best (like the most commonly used Bitcoin logo) but it's not an official unicode character yet. The best way to display or use this character yourself is probably Font Awesome. Looks great and works pretty much everywhere. A good alternative is ฿ (unicode 3647), it works everywhere but the disadvantage is it's also the symbol for the Thai Baht. Ƀ (unicode 579) is also used sometimes. |

Yup, for example: "I believe that Bitcoin will still exist in 2050" "I just bought 500 bitcoins" EDIT: It seems Cryptsy uses "BitCoin" and "LiteCoin" but Dogecoin is just "Dogecoin" without the capital C. Hmm... |

This. People who use "BitCoin" or "bitCoin" have not educated themselves on the topic and come across as noobs or clueless. (Unless of course it is an auto-correct, then it is a tech issue that isn't caught). Edit: the paper spells it bitcoin or Bitcoin, so I think that is pretty definitive. |

Write it any way that you want. bitCoin is based on decentralization. There is no central authority that enforces any particular name.
Anyway, this topic is moot. The correct spelling is 比特币. You'll see.
