Amazon has these phones in their cyber monday sale - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-PXC-550-Wireless-Cancelling-Black/dp/B01E3XLNA0?ref_=Oct_DLandingS_PC_192f8a30_15&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

I'm tempted to buy them, and save £155. There is a later model that includes Alexa, but I don't want anything that is near Alexa. I've got a perfectly good wired set by Sony, but they don't have noise cancelling, and they have an enhanced bass, and that is annoying for me, as I don't listen to much music. Noise cancelling would be good for use in restaurants. There is a speaker included, well it's really two speakers that focus on a point just in front of your mouth, and I wonder if this concept would work in a restaurant.

Do any of you guys use these 'phones, or have an opinion on some of the features?

That is pretty good offer, those are bit better than mine. I am using  cheaper Sennheiser model with noise cancelling, Sennhesier HD 4.50 and i am pretty satisfied with sound quality and noise cancelling.

If money is not an issue or you don't mind giving a bit extra, i would suggest that you go  for Sony WH-1000 X M3, or if there is a good offer for older version, Sony WH-1000 X M2, very comfortable and best ANC(active noise cancelling ) on the market.  Bose QuietComfort 35 is also close to those, especially if you can find good offer.

I've got the PXC550s and am incredibly happy with them. I really like that you can turn the noise canceling on or off. The fit is really comfy, sound quality is great for the price range. My only grievance with them is the on/off switch for powering the headphones on is done by rotating the cuffs to fit your ears, so I sometimes set them down after taking them off my head and it drains the battery.

Thanks for the replies. I was tempted by the black Friday deals. I've now found out that there is a version two, and this includes Alexa. There is no way that I want a product with Alexa in it, so I'm hoping that there will be another price drop over the next month or so. I have a wired Sony headphone set, but it doesn't include noise deadening. It is also a bit bass heavy, but I can live with that for another couple of months.

The Sennheiser looks to be good value, and seems perfect for use in a public restaurant.

I have the Sony WH-1000XM3 noise cancelling headphones. They are excellent, but they are also expensive.

If you are looking for the "best" noise-cancelling headphones then Sony WH-1000XM3 has no competition, I can vouch for that personally and there are tons of reviews on youtube about its noise cancellation but just like @odolvlobo said, they are a bit expensive compared to PXC550. So if you are looking for the best, then you can't go wrong with Sony.

What did you end up going with?
Over the years I really liked Sennheiser, but recently I went more for miniaturization and picked up the new Apple Airpods Pro and havent put them down since Smiley
