Hey dear community,

I have started doing a website project that I would like to include possibility to also accept bitcoins as payment for my photography service & merchandise.

Now the question is if its actually possible to do without having to put an effort in technical knowledge and without monthly fees as easily as it is nowadays with fiat based web services?

I would gladly accept a deal that some percentage of succesful deals would go to the service provider as it is with my current webpage with printful and storeenvy services. I just wouldnt like to end up paying monthly fees without having first some steady income from the project.

Any help and feedback is welcome.

You can check my project: www.cc-photo.net

Edited for new URL to my shop.
Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

It's very much possible but not recommended. Imagine you earned a lot of bitcoins and some scammer simply takes it away from you due to lack of your bitcoin knowledge? This happens very often in the crypto world and having general information about the technical stuff will always help. It's no rocket science, just some basic things to do and not to do should be good enough. There are multiple services that allow you to plug and play bitcoin payment services but they do charge a very small fee. I'm not going to recommend any such services since I honestly don't like them.

You can check my project: www.cuddlingcompany.com

Hello,

Personally, I have already had the opportunity to work with Xsolla, a service that manages this kind of functions.

The great thing is that it is simple enough to integrate on a project.

- Xsolla : https://xsolla.com/

There is surely another one, but I really speak to you of those who I used personally.

That doesn't sound anything like what OP is looking for. The first thing on the landing page says "Video Game Business Engine". You could argue that they have https://xsolla.com/solutions/payments Payment Solutions as well but that again has to do something along the lines of "players" and "games". Op is looking for something like BitPay.

So yes, basically this BitPay service is kind of the thing I was looking for! THANK YOU.

I was checking BTCpay and confused it with BitPay.. because in this service you need to start your own server and stuff Smiley
1% of the trades is better for me than putting up servers and maintaining them at this point, later on if I actually start having some income from the webpage.

And yes, you are right that I really SHOULD do more research for BTC & maintaing my own service, but at this moment it's near to impossible due the time requirements, as I need to run my old folks daily routines among everything else I am doing with my life Smiley But it's cool if I can get this web business started & working this way.

Good Stuff. Would love to see some bitcoin-related designs.

Thank you Smiley I did a fast design with BTC now and already put it in the store page. I know it's far from perfect, but your feedback actually encouraged me to try this out:

So, ta-ta-ta-tum! Here you go! An unique designed shopping bag to carry around while doing grocery shopping

https://cuddlingcompany.storenvy.com/products/29182489-bitcoin-bag
(check out the text around the coin)

What do you think? Should I keep designing some bitcoin related accessories or just stay the hell out of and focus something else?

There has been a lot of discussion of the mass adoption needed in crypto in order to make it really shine in future. As I stated before, I am not such a technical person myself (much more of a visualist) and for example: at the moment making a BTC payment possibility for my store seems to be little bit akward thing to handle, BUT I was giving a thought of what I actually could do to help taking those steps towards mass adoption. So far, the best thing has been talking to my family and friends as well as using crypto when I can, but it is really really tiresome work to do as I dont really have that much technical knowledge to back up my speech.

And sorry for double thread to the moderators (I think I have little bit problems with focusing sometimes Smiley

Quite many gateways. All depends on how white / grey / black are you. Simplex is one of most popular perhaps.

You can't have both at same time, but if you prefer no fees and full control over your Bitcoin and payment gateway, then  BTCPay is for you. It's free and open source.

The only downside is you need to set it up yourself.

Yes, but with BTCpay, I think that I will still need to host my server somewhere and pay for that + setting up it to work properly. (for now I am hosted in Godaddy's service and using Printful and Storeenvy services for printing, selling and distributing.)

I totally agree it would give me the best control of my store, but with Bitpay's service I could do it right now without too much hassle prbably and only pay for 1% fees per transaction to them, which does not seem too bad if it is secure. I will have to give this a long thought, since this is a project I am willing to take on slowly but steadily and when I have enough knowledge about BTC and server hosting I can maybe move fully to BTCpay.

Anyway, I like this community, you are awesome and giving nice advices. Thank you so much.

You can also use a BTCPAY processor, which uses your extended public key to generate deposit adresses.

Read this for the pro's and cons - https://docs.btcpayserver.org/deployment/thirdpartyhosting

Ofcourse- the most significant one for Bitpay is that you don't have the (perceived) risk of them running off with your funds (since they are much more established than the BTCPAY thirdparty hosters (such as btcpayjungle). - but the biggest con is KYC and overall bureaucratic crap.

BTCpay- 0% fees, money goes directly to your own wallet- but if you don't run the server, there is a chance an evil server operator replaces your adress with their own.
Although, this should be notable pretty quickly.

Trusted third parties are security holes. By relying on someone else to manage a server for you, you are potentially exposing yourself to a certain attack vector.
The most significant attack vector when using a third party host is that a malicious and technically skilled host can create a forked version of BTCPay Server and modify it so that it either spy on your transactions or replace your xpubkey with his. This means that future payments made to you may end up in a malicious party wallet.

I would not recommend using this service (based on my own experience of course). I've been occasionally gifting some Faceit premium subscriptions (where the payment processor is Xsolla) to friends and most of the time, I was having a hard time paying with BTC or MobileGo (another crypto) as they unlist them due to regular technical problems.

Since you are still in your struggling stage and you are bothered about paying some monthly fee or sharing your revenue, I will advise you to implement it now till your business grow up to a considerable stage.
What you are seeking for, is possible but beware of scammers ripping you off your sweat. Why you wait for your business to grow, learn more about Bitcoin, the website implementation process is not really that hard though, especially with https://bitpay.com/ and they charge 1% fee.

Nevertheless, there is no free service in the Internet, any site willingly to provide you the service you are looking is definitely collecting something in return. Just be careful.

Moreover you have a nice minimalist website design.

Even if you prefer convenience, IMO BitPay should be last option due to :
1. Annoying payment protocol, which require specific wallet/tool and disallow using VPN/Proxy/Tor
2. Somehow unfair rate and all transaction fee burden is given to customer

Yes, now when I started diggin into their service I tend to agree.

It seems that I have to start putting effort to dig more into technical stuff and start figuring out how to get this thing actually working properly.
Thing is that before I start making atleast some revenue per monthly basis I cannot really add on this subscription model of payments, because after awhile those small money currents will make a big bleeding river.

I really like doing the designs, but not so much fun of running otherside of the business, but yeah. I quess it will be worth it eventually if I put the effort needed.

Thanks for feedback!

Actually you can't get someone's service for free if its legit so you have to setup your own payment processor but its not recommended since you lack of technical knowledge about it and not possible if you got huge amount of payments so just pick the best service and pay 1% as fee.I will recommend Coinpayments which not only accept bitcoin but also multiple crypto currencies.

Yes I agree on 1% payment is very fine, but there is few things I dislike; KYC and that I would have to use their bitcoin wallet on their service (bitpay). I personally would prefer bitcoin address to be where I choose it to be & trade to be with me and the customer. I also realize that this can be too much tech stuff for me, so I still need to weight my options. Good thing is that I am in no hurry with this project and these services are evolving as we discuss.

Thanks for the feedback Smiley

It's just not true what you are saying. BTCPayserver also works with huge amounts of payments, and there are a couple third parties which are 100% free, require no KYC, and are decently enough established to be used by a small company. (btcpayjungle)

There are also a couple other companies which offer one-click deployment- https://medium.com/@BtcpayServer/launch-btcpay-server-via-web-interface-and-deploy-full-bitcoin-node-lnd-in-less-than-a-minute-dc8bc6f06a3

Alternatively, there's another one-click deployment option with Azure here-  https://github.com/btcpayserver/btcpayserver-azure

Hmm yes I understand, after this is not only for games.

I'm talking about it because I know ( It's a solution that I installed for a client ), now I agree that solutions like "BitPay" or "BTCPay" are probably more suitable for the OP.

In any case, I wish you good luck for the continuation Wink

Just want to add on to @AdolfinWolf point, you can use the same server to host your store as well, so it will save up your monthly costs...  As a customer, My personal experience with bitpay has been a pain in the ass and as @ETFBitcoin mentioned they enforce your customers to pay high fees when a lower fee would do just fine... On Some occasions I gave up the purchase on others when I really needed something, I went through the trouble. If you feel like it is a bit too techy then don't worry, If the person really wants to buy your design then they will go through the trouble.

Just like you use story for PayPal and card paypment you can use a bitcoin service just like the people already say. But is good to say that bitcoin is like use cash, you can tell the client to contact you by email and in that moment give him a bitcoin address for the payment, that's another way to make the deals with BTC and personal shops.

Of course, accepting bitcoin as a payment for your work is a great idea, but this makes no sense at the moment. Firstly, because there are other faster and more stable coins for which you will not pay such a large commission. And secondly, the price of bitcoin is changing so quickly that sometimes you may end up with losses. In my opinion, fiat money is more reasonable option.
