Bakkt is rolling out two new trading options on December 9th: Bitcoin (USD) Options and Bitcoin (USD) Cash Settled Monthly Futures. Just yesterday, Bakkt’s CEO was appointed as a U.S. senator in Georgia.

Bakkt has been making headlines in the news again as its CEO is appointed to a Georgia Senate seat despite the ire of President Trump. The exchange itself has been ramping up its trading services, however, as the trading platform breaks new ground in the greater political and financial press.

First of all, I would like to say congratulations to Bakkt CEO for successfully becoming a US senator in Georgia!

Truly, this was indeed a possible game-changer as she would become an advocate for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to be adopted in the country. Despite that Donald Trump not being a fan of Bitcoin, but who knows?

This is just a small step towards big awareness to the US citizens about the positive use case of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

true. the fact that this bakkt doesn't help the price, its CEO now positioned to hand the information to the government. i don't even think anyone here registered there in bakkt.

I believe that this is the biggest effect of the appointment. It's not like one senator can make a huge difference in terms of policies, and it's not like she is Satoshi Nakamoto, she represents a very peculiar Bitcoin-related company. However, with her being around, more people will hear about Bitcoin, learn how it can be used and at least that it's not a total scam, as many still believe. This is already a big accomplishment, and she might also be a strong voice against harsh regulations because her business would suffer from them as well. All in all, I congratulate the US with a powerful female pro-crypto senator.

It really depends on what committee positions she holds, and that's what should be paid attention to. If she sits on any financial committees, that would really be noteworthy. Unless some policies will roll out, its not that helpful. Someone from Georgia should call their office as a constituent to find out.

Recently a user on Twitter published that Bakkt physical delivery contracts can only be withdrawn through official brokers who do not give you Bitcoin, only fiat, so in theory are already cash settlements contracts.

I don't see it as positive news because BAKKT is overhyped and is in fact not doing anything for the price. The CEO is also reluctant to say anything about Bitcoin in her interviews. When asked about her views as a politicians she said that she's anti-abortion, trump supporter and all that but nothing about cryptocurrencies. This should ring a bell. She's in crypto for the money and bakkt is supposed to make her more fiat money.

Now this is a good news. We now know that one government official is now a pro-Bitcoin and I think it will give a positive impact on the overall view of the masses to Bitcoin. Great views mate, and of course BAKKT should plan ahead with regards to their development and if she becomes a Senator then she might not be able to work with BAKKT anymore since its a conflict of interest but hopefully she’ll make a plan or any law with regards to adoption. BAKKT should grow at least, and its good that US will slowly become a place for cryptos.

One way for the central banks to reduce the impact of  Bitcoin globally, is for them to own all the Bitcoin. This probably won't happen, but if they own enough, then they can destabilise the market, and destroy public confidence in it daily use. I still wonder how many mining farms are owned by central banks.

She only been temporarily appointed to the senate as the incumbent had to step down due to health problems.

She's now the Republican candidate for the US senate race that will take place in November 2020.

She still has to get elected to carry on after 2020...

Cash settled futures are more popular than futures settled with assets, but it has no significant impact on the actual price, because no bitcoins are

changing hands. The other thing is, a politician might be a supporter of a specific thing, but it is not to say that whatever the politician is supporting

would benefit from him/her being in a position of power. We saw a lot of pro-bitcoin electorates in the buildup to the national election in the USA and

The government stance on crypto is very clear and people like Kelly have to follow the government stance on crypto. I don't think she would be able to do any lobby for turning government favor towards cryptocurrency. So we must not expect anything good coming for crypto after her appointment in Georgia senate. Just because of Pres. Trump hates cryptocurrency, you think that Loefler also hates cryptocurrency or have evil intentions towards it. I think that logic is broken.  Each person has different POV and we have seen in the past that Loefler is one of those who promote cryptocurrency.  I think this event will help Cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin to be legalized and be accepted in  the US though I am sure cryptocurrency regulation and taxation will be pushed also.

OP is just posting for the only purpose of promoting his link, and you are absolutely right that what Bakkt does has nothing to do with the fact that their CEO has become a senator. OP also lives in the illusion that one senator can change things, or that the fate of Bitcoin depends on US politics.
