https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=topusersat
that page seems to lack 11 merits for some users, 1 for eg The Pharmacist, none for eg micgoossens
so maybe it's a hangover from the caption comp?

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I guess it isn't the caption competition rather from the art contest, I presume it was, but seeing satoshi been affected by it as well I guess that isn't the case. Here's the top 10 merited users available on that list and so far most of them has disparity from their current merits, only DdmrDdmr hasn't been affected by this, maybe theymos can enlighten us about this. I can't make a long list since I am on my mobile as of the moment.

theymos: -1011
LoyceV: -1011
suchmoon: -1011
DdmrDdmr: 0
o_e_l_e_o: -101
micgoosens: -10
The Pharmacist: -1001
satoshi: -250

You seem to be forgetting the list displays earned merit, not total merit (airdropped included). The merit difference (aside from the airdropped amount) is consistent with the Caption reward merits (I did not participate, and therefore mine is correct).

I see, but what about the case of The Founder (satoshi)?
Besides being the Founder, on the conventional rank basis his/her/their Activity is that of 364, which corresponds to a Sr. Member -> 250 airdropped merits.

So the 11 Merit I received from "Bitcoin Forum" aren't counted as real earned Merits, but they're counted as airdropped? That's a terrible idea Tongue

I made a list of all accounts that received Merit from "Bitcoin Forum" on http://loyce.club/Merit/history/0.html.

They will be counted in forum calculations referencing earned merit, but merit sent to/from (Bitcoin Forum) aren't considered on most (maybe all, don't remember) merit-stats pages.

Edit - Hang on a second, some of you cunts got 500+ Merit’s from ‘Bitcoin Forum’.

A total of 717 merit was given via the art contest. You received 1 merit if you voted, an additional 1 if you submitted a caption that got a lot of votes, but didn't win, or an additional 10 if you submitted a caption that won

Thanks to everyone who participated! If you voted in this event, you received 1 merit; if your caption appeared in the first table above, you also received 10, and if your caption appeared only in the second table above, you also received 2.

I make the number of total merits sent from ‘Bitcoin Forum’ to be as follows:
Code:
nMerits	nUsers
11 26
10 15
3 8
2 5
1 246
-1 1
-2 2
-4 1
-5 2
-7 1
-8 1
-9 3
-10 3
-12 1
The above includes the Caption event (the positive values) and some negative entries related to rolling back some rough merits back in May. The total is of 716 positive (Caption) merits (*), and 103 counter merits.

(*) 717 really, buy I'm adding by profile, and one in particular got 1 positive and 10 negative, figuring therefore as -9 in the above list.
