Worried it is offline forever? Wouldn't worry about it at the moment. No one is reporting bitcoins disappearing yet.

That shouldn't be possible, because they can't access the private keys to the wallets.
I think they are stored encrypted on their servers, and signing the transaction only happens at your browser.
So everything happens on your computer. If they loose those encrypted private keys, you should have it backed up of course.

They can access our private keys if they wanted to. If they change their webpage codes to store our keys, they could take the bitcoins, and most people wouldn't know about it.

I still trust them, and they will be online again once they have sorted out their database.

...

I guess it's possible. If you trust they use the software that's in the github project page, then it's save.
But when using a third party, it is always based on trust.

I requested a backup of our wallet already, but it isn't very useful for our business, because we're storing our Bitcoins there.

Hopefully they're working again soon...

EDIT: Here is the answer of the support:

Quote
Hey there! While your backups are 100% safe & secure right now we currently do not have the servers back online to access these. Once they are restored I can provide you with your backup so you can import that into another wallet until Blockchain.info is 100% operational again. I will let you know when this happens, and ask to verify a few pieces of information before sending out the wallet backup(s).

You can stay up to date on the latest information regarding this outage via our Twitter & Facebook pages, as well as Blockchain's blog - https://blog.blockchain.com/. Thank you for your patience!

I hope this doesn't to turn into weeks of bad press for BTC...

Does Mr Fancy Coffee and his empty gox have any relation to blockchain.info? I kept hearing him toss out that name as the ones who worked on his malleability problem. He claims they fixed it good and that the exchange would be back on-line as soon as the re-scan of the blockchain was complete.

If they would scam (what I really don't think and hope), the press would be full of that and the Bitcoin is going to be famous
for his very unserious scammer companies.

I'm pretty sure they are going to come back up. But their API is down for hours and this is annoying. We do need an alternate backup API provider.

What else is available?

I know. That isn't fery helpful for our business. I guess I'm going to change to an offline wallet as soon as they're back. Right now only the normal blockchain is working, but the wallet etc. is still unavailable.

I am guessing this will be another flavor of a failed bitcoin technology. Hackers probably attacked them and rather than steal from them, they destroyed their private keys. They are desperately trying to recover but obviously haven't yet.

This is a serious problem or it would be fixed by now. I am glad I never trusted them or any exchange with anything. The fragility of the world using cryptology for money will be Bitcoins undoing in the short term. In the long term it will rise like a phoenix as the blockchain will never die.

Common, the site is available, then not, then a 500 Internal Server Error. What's up with them?!

But at least it seems like that they're working all the time behind blockchain.info, otherwise the error pages wouldn't change so often  Smiley

everyone's private keys are in jeopardy, my good friend told me to keep my coins on paper and put them in a safe deposit box. I did that, so my coins are safe, but i still wake up in a cold sweat that someone has stolen my coins. I would hate to be a blockchain.info wallet holder right now....

9pm check website...

say prayer... please god

6 am check website...

Oh God have mercy on my private keys.....

I guess that they're loosing many costumers because of that as soon as their services are
back online and the wallets accessible.

Looks like the BTC bad press machine has already jumped on this...
