Saw this in Zurich, Switzerland, last Sunday:

Nice to see something like this in the real world.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Do you know by any chance if it was just a local campaign or a national? They have nice ideas for advertising their services there.
2 years ago they sponsored an ice hockey club in Europe so the club had to rename the rink (arena) the "Bitcoin Arena" Grin

I'm pretty sure Zurich and Geneva are the 2 biggest cities in Switzerland anyway. Even if it's just Zurich, that's pretty good exposure, there must be 10's of millions of tourists and other foreigners passing through Zurich every year, many of whom using the trams.

Very few governments support such a kind of promotion on public transport. Though Switzerland is technology adaptive, and has got its own cryptocurrency giving exposure to bitcoin on the main cities grabs good attention from tourists and foreigners travelling to Switzerland. Such a level of promotion need to happen at least on half of the world countries.

That can be a big dream come true if we can see half of all countries of the world giving a good treatment to cryptocurrency, and even if there will just be 20% of them that would be enough to create a sort of snowball for others to get on board. Unfortunately, progress can really be so slow and adoption can be taking time, we can not force people and the governments to come to our viewpoints. We need more time and patience here. One day, I am sure that there will be more and more countries to pattern after Switzerland for that matter.

It's only in Zurich, but they have at least two trams painted like that judging from their clips as they run on different lines.
But it doesn't come cheap, 150k euros for one tram for 3 months..

Very few governments support such a kind of promotion on public transport.

Here in Europe, you can advertise almost everything on the buses or on tramways.
From Condoms and UberFood to politicians and cough..cough...Onecoin..

With Zurich's popularity in Switzerland it might be a national campaign that initially done to most visited city in Switzerland with no more than 20 million tourist each year we can totally say that it is made to influence not just the people from that city. I'm pretty sure about it coz if they did not, they could have done it to their capital city which is Bern. But if I were the passenger on that tram, there is no chance I would be paying in bitcoin.

Saw this in Zurich, Switzerland, last Sunday:

Nice to see something like this in the real world.
A good ad is displayed on transportation because many people will see the ad there, especially in Switzerland I think a lot of tourists from abroad visit there and see the ad, it seems also interesting to put a bitcoin ad in my country but unfortunately I don't have enough funds To advertise it, currently only using ordinary T-shirts bearing the logo of buying bitcoin. Hope people see it when I walk casually outside, so what have you been campaigning for bitcoin out there?

I have never seen something like that in my life, but in my part of the world, I guess even to get approval for those kind of ads would be a terrible headache.

Made me look up what Bitcoin Suisse was even, so I guess advertising works in whatever way you want it. Visibility adds to awareness. That's a good sign for sure, can't wait to see it on my bus one day;)

This form of promotion is incredible! Having such a huge display of bitcoin on a train in the transport sector is one of the best way to increase the awareness of bitcoin to the world. Though i think the people of Switzerland know much about bitcoin already, hopefully we can see this form of promotion in some of the developing countries in Africa and Asia.

It looks that the campaign is going to be running there for a whole year (currently running three weeks), being the tram line one that goes through both the financial and academic districts.

The interesting quote on their website:
Quote
After the initiation of its “Welcome to Crypto Nation Switzerland” messaging at both the Zurich and Geneva airport arrival area, the Bitcoin Suisse tram brings a fresh element to the conversation about crypto assets in Switzerland. Besides providing a strong brand statement for the company, the tram’s interior offers riders a wide range of educational materials about blockchain technology and crypto assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tezos, Bitcoin Cash and Ripple on approximately 30 panels throughout the tram, as well as information about Bitcoin Suisse services.

It is a good way to advertise! Zurich is a big city, in particular, they have lots of tourists who come to visit every year. I believe this form of advertising will work very well. I like it because Bitcoin is advertised publicly here. I don't have a chance to go to Switzerland, but if possible, I look forward to exploring it. It would be great for an experience!

This kind of promotion is, as some have already said, quite normal in Europe, and very popular considering that it is a traveling advertisement that reaches a large number of people. In a country like Switzerland where everything revolves around financial services, it's no wonder to see that someone wants to raise the level of awareness about Bitcoin and about cryptocurrency in general.

What is positive about the whole story is that Bitcoin is portrayed in a positive light, and it is coming out of a gray area where most people still see it. When someone tells me Bitcoin is a scam or a Ponzi scheme, then I show them what Switzerland, Germany or Japan think about it and what status Bitcoin has in those countries.

Sorry for this carelessness, I'll pay more attention.

When someone tells me Bitcoin is a scam or a Ponzi scheme, then I show them what Switzerland, Germany or Japan think about it and what status Bitcoin has in those countries.

I agree with your comments. In fact, a scam only happens to people who don't understand about cryptocurrency fully. They are often unaware of the mistakes which they can make. More specifically, newbies are often tricked into "ghost" projects. Here, they invest a lot and receive nothing. That is what happened in my country.

This is a good way to advertise. I would like to see more transport with something like that.

Zurich is already a huge place for advertisements and already provides a huge exposure for any sort of campaigns such as this one. I'm pretty sure that the message has been successfully delivered around there and the advertisement already sparked the curiosity of some people.

Also knowing that public transport is a huge thing in Switzerland, it is like that this will gain more and more exposure over time, causing a lot more people to dwell or at least ponder on the idea of cryptocurrencies.

Do you know by any chance if it was just a local campaign or a national?

I'm pretty sure Zurich and Geneva are the 2 biggest cities in Switzerland anyway. Even if it's just Zurich, that's pretty good exposure, there must be 10's of millions of tourists and other foreigners passing through Zurich every year, many of whom using the trams.

I agree with you. Its a fact that Switzerland welcomes not just tourists, but leaders, businessmen and influential people from all over the globe. Its pretty great because all these people may be interested in such advertising and this will promote bitcoin.

hey I own and used a paper wallet by them for years. I stupidly held a few bitcoin on a wallet that I didn't generate the private key on and it was never stolen. I got lucky they didn't have a rogue employee or do some sort of scam. I don't think they make them anymore but they earned a bit of my trust.

Well, then you got lucky. I don't use paper wallets anymore.

By the way, the whole tram was in the Bitcoin Suisse design. I just had to take the shot before it rolled away seconds later.

Looks like an expensive and long ad campaign on a train based in Europe and owned by "Bitcoin Suisse". Did some online search and seems to be really based in Switzerland: https://mobile.twitter.com/BitcoinSuisseAG?
Wish to know more about this to understand what it is all about.

Actually, there are a lot of people these days who thinks that bitcoin is a scam because of what they have heard about it being used in illegal activities that is why I can't also blame them for thinking that way. They judge bitcoin without even search the real meaning of it, they only see it's negative side but this kind of promotion might help them open their minds that a digital currency existed and it is not what they think it is. Bitcoin is beneficial and there are a lot of advantages on using it, I just hope they will realize it because it's really good to see people accepting and adopting bitcoin. It is also the reason why i'm sharing my own knowledge and experiences on bitcoin to those people who keeps on telling me that it is a scam, because I wanted to enlighten them.
