Hi, This is my problem.
I have some bitcoin on a Electrum wallet 2.9.3 on Windows OS. I read that it doesn't connect anymore on the net.
So I want to install the last Electrum version.
How can I transfer Bitcoin from the Electrum wallet 2.9.3 to the last one. Would you please give the procedure to do so
Thank you

Just install the latest version of electrum and you're wallet will be avaliable.

Make sure you get the latest version from electrum.org and verify verify its signature by following the steps on the website.

All you need to do is open the same wallet file and Electrum does the rest.
The default wallet file is named default_wallet so if you did not choose another name when you set it the original version of Electrum up all you need to do is open that one.

If you can't find it, then you can create a new wallet with your seed words (DO NOT NAME THE NEW ONE default_wallet) IF YOU NAME IT SOMETHING ELSE IT YOU CANNOT OVERWRITE THE ORIGINAL IF YOU NEED IT AGAIN FOR SOME REASON.

Also make sure you only download it from https://electrum.org/ and check the signature of the file.

Verifying the signature is another form of security to make sure the file you downloaded is the actual file it is supposed to be.

If you go to the download page https://electrum.org/#download they have a link on how to do it:
https://bitzuma.com/posts/how-to-verify-an-electrum-download-on-windows/

Note that even now you are trusting me to send you to the correct website, you really should not do that and not click links but instead get there on your own.

Also, please do a backup of your default_wallet file before doing anything (or whatever you originally named it) yeah you will probably be safe. But, probably is not as good as I have a backup in case anything goes wrong.

If you installed electrum your wallet will be in:
(backup entire folder if possible)
%appdata%/local/electrum or %appdata%/roaming/electrum

If it's standalone then look for the electrum_data directory in the same directory as the electrum bin/exe.

If you installed electrum your wallet will be in:
~/.electrum for Linux (backup entire folder if possible)
%appdata%/local/electrum or %appdata%/roaming/electrum

If it's standalone then look for the electrum_data directory in the same directory as the electrum bin/exe.

Since OP said it's Windows, let's not confuse him with Linux. So I crossed out the part that's not useful.

Now, together with the backup, OP should also make sure what kind of Electrum install he had and for that looking for these folders to find his data is just great.
I'm telling this because if he wants to have it running without other intervention after install, it's best to have the same install type. (I expect it's a proper install with Windows Installer.)

And BTW, uninstall is not advised. Just backup the wallets and install the new version over the old one.

I would personally go for a clean installation, for the reason that it is a rather old version, and that there can always be some problems if old software is just updated. I'm not saying that will be the case here, but if the OP has a seed then that's all he needs for a safe transition.

Still, I would agree that it might be best to try a simple update and overwrite the old version. But before anything, it would be wise to check seed words by using old Electrum and click on seed icon (bottom right) or by click on Wallet tab -> Seed. If the wallet is protected by password, in both cases it will be required to display the seed.

I think OP already got appropriate answers. Since I were faced same issue previously so I will share my experience for OP. Perhaps it would solved your confusion. My electrum version was old and it were required to update in order to connect server. Since there were few hacking attacks from popups, I didn't update such as way. I go direct original website of electrum and install latest windows version from there. When I opened electrum software from my desktop, it were found old wallet file automatically and there were no issue. All the funds and private keys was same as it were. So you may update that way, on addition you may verify it as already instructed above.
