Do we need a separate sub board for Lightning wallets / nodes?

Do you think there could be another subboard discussing lightning wallets and/or nodes?

Yeah, I know there are scattered discussion about them but unless I am missing something there is no 'put all that discussion here' place.

A lot of the discussions and support are taking place on Telegram & Discord but having it here would be nice too.

I also know a lot of them overlap other wallets but I think there are enough separate questions to keep it separate.

I think it's probably isn't necessary right now as threads concerning lightning wallets are still a minority(as far as I know). But really, I'm for creating a separate board for LN won't really hurt. While I think it will slightly be inactive, having all threads concerning LN on an independent board would be great in terms of being organized.

Typically, new boards (child-boards) are created when there is adequate demand for them. Right now, I'm seeing five LN-related topics on the 1st page in Development & Technical Discussion, zero such topics on the 2nd page, four topics on the 3rd page, three on the 4th, and two on the 5th, and there are forty topics per every page. Post more LN-related content if you have something meaningful to say or ask, and in time a new child-board will be created.

i would to see a separate board for Lightning Network (both technical discussion and clients) but i think it is  way too soon to create it since there aren't that much topics on the subject and most of the topics that already exist (like the ones you posted here) should still remain where they are like the one in beginners and help board or the Electrum related topic.

It would be good for one with little knowledge of Lightening Network to have a go to place to get all information on the forum about it, but that can not be the only reason for a child board as the search option can be useful to that effect.
A child board should encourage quality discussions and inquiries about a particular subject.
A board gets filled with pages and pages of tooicsyand replies, and I'm not certain if LN discussions can develop such kind of activity now.

The issue I see, is that yes you have a good point with that. BUT even the 1st thread I had listed points to a Telegram channel and a pair of different websites.
One of the others I found, not sure if I listed it, points to a discord chat.

I was trying to find out how to fix something I broke with my node and wound up on finding the answer on reddit. Was not even and discussion about it here.

Not good / not bad just not here. Which is why I bought it up.

I just checked "Development & Technical Discussion" board.
Currently, number of threads that are related to lightening network are even lower than the time malevolent had made that post. So, such a sub-board won't be created in the near future.

I mean while having a board for LN won't hurt, I don't think it is required right now. Cause think about it, not only is there no demand for this, there's lack of genuine interest in the whole topic itself. A very very small portion of the users here know and understand LN over here. People wanted a new board for Segwit when that thing was going all over the forum, but now, there's hardly any talk about it. Same goes for signature campaigns, people begged for a separate signature campaign board, and now there are hardly new campaigns, and the whole board won't even exceed having 2 pages. Point is, discussions will eventually start slowing down as you go, and the board will die off.

Rather, create a thread in one of the technical boards and allow everything related to LN on it, have arguments, debates, drama, James Charles, anything. Something like the Wall Observer thread.

I guess it is much necessary to have separate sub board for Lightning Network discussion & support. Earlier when I get inrtoduced with LN & tried to learn it, I had posted some query but never got any reply on that; although later I had managed to learn a little through creating a topic in Beginners & Help.
It would really be good since I see some interested users.

That's true, eventually every info will be here & we will get less interested person or less people posting there. The same also goes with some of the boards in wallet section which have been died.

Despite repeating another topic, I want to voice my opinion: yes please I like LN, and I have high hopes for the future and I expect it to need a separate board at some point anyway, so we can just as well get it now.

Or, as suggested in the other thread on the same subject: a dedicated board for all layer 2 solutions.

First let us take note that not every single person that goes into Bitcointalk is to ask questions or to create threads. Let us take not the number of people that are only actually here to read threads. Now, a separate section would make that reading(and or researching) a lot easier than it used to be if LN has it's own independent section. And that itself is for both people who have Bitcointalk accounts, and those who don't.

If you look around this forum there's a tiny number of mentions of it beyond mindlessly dropping it in as the solution to everyone's problems. Perhaps the creation of a board would foster more proper discussion. It certainly doesn't deserve one based on what I'm seeing at present.

Is there an equivalent on another site somewhere?

Since there’re boards for less important discussions, creating that for lightning network shouldn’t be questioned, it would be great to have a LN board. It’s quite unfortunate that it’s taking a long time, early discussions about LN could have been easier to follow up.

Lightning sub section now, or lightning sub section later?  It's just a matter of time before the forum needs one.

There are several discussions about Lighting network already around the forum.  There are at least three "Lightning Test" threads in the lending section.  Maybe there aren't enough threads to fill the first page of a new board right now, but that won't be the case for long.  Electrum has disclosed their next release will include Lightning capability.  Once the most popular bitcoin wallet around includes Lightning functionality the number of new threads asking "what is it," "how to use it," and who knows what else will flood that board.

Basically, what I said in September.  There's almost no doubt in my mind that we'll need that board at some point, but it's not quite yet.  Development & Technical is sufficient for now.
