DigiByte!
I'm not hyping this one. And I love Bitcoin (actually i have stacks of it). I am on the verge of looking something useful. Creating a FUD or Hyping does not help me grow my knowledge.
I newly discover crypto this year. As my 1 month of stay here in bitcointalk and crypto space and evaluated top 100 crypto who stayed for almost long enough in the hundreths and did an ample experience to them. (bought them and used them) I do see a lot of coins with potential and some other use cases but for currency it's undoubtedly Bitcoin. Now, I'm even confused. There is a bright future for DigiByte out there as a currency use and for people who had crypto that stayed long enough in the crypto space and bitcointalk, I only thought of them making a fortune in it (not really thinking about the future of blockchain tech). Digibyte has very secure and strong foundation in it's community. Scalability, fees and scarcity is no issue there. They also have a decentralized broker where you can make a transaction of an investment with direct profits into your wallet.
Now my question is; Any of you here really see what is good in DigiByte? I would love to hear any replies. This is an educational question for me as I have seen what is the real use case of a cryptocurrency and I found out in BTC and DGB as a leading candidates for Global use as a currency. I also want to hear the negative side of digibyte as a currency, maybe because I'm pre-occupied or clouded at the moment of this coin with great potential in my opinion.
I mean no harm of doing this. Since this is a Bitcoin forum talk.

People are creating topic like this every week. The simple truth why there are so many hype around bitcoin - it was first. A lot of people think that this is the only one true crypto currency. This is not about tech, this is about status

Digibyte is nowhere near to Bitcoin. If you compared the tech aspect of Bitcoin with Ethereum or EOS then I would have certainly agreed with you. It is a new kid on the block and has a controversial past. A lot has to be done by the team to project themselves as one of the contenders to challenge Bitcoin. Technically EOS is far better than Bitcoin and Ethereum with a lot of practical usages. Ethereum is if they shift to POS next year would be a challenge for EOS.

I'm afraid this simply isn't true. If Bitcoin prices were for some reason to fall and collapse as of today, the entire market of altcoins like digibyte will go collapse as well. If you check the market caps, you would see that when Bitcoin thrives, the majority of altcoins thrive, and vice-versa. Digibyte has a big community behind it and receives good development but Bitcoin is the foundation upon which other cryptocurrencies were built, if the foundation crumbles, it all falls down.

And it's about where you can make a lot of money, and that is bitcoin. And it has alot of enigma behind it, Satoshi and some drama behind it. Yes, Digibyte or any other altcoins there are far better that bitcoin, speed wise, security and scalability. However, most of altcoins are simply being used for pump and dump scheme.

Digitbyte is not decentralized as Bitcoin. Digitbyte has an owner, have you ever thought about it? Jared Tate.
Digibyte is only faster because it has a 15 second blocktime (instead of 10minuted), which bitcoin decentralized community decided is not good for bitcoin, but Jared think it js. It is faster also because nobody uses their Network, so it is not congestioned.
Security is crappy also, because it uses pow and bitocin hashing power is much much bigger. This coin could be 51% easily. Bitcoin is resistant against a continental attack, because you need a continental energy to 51% it.
So all in all, if you are only worried about scalability, use visa.

never heard about this Digibyte. Well, crypto community is in no mood of declaring strong altcoins like ethereum better then bitcoin and here we have a thread in wh Digibyte is declared better then bitcoin. I am totally ruling out this possibility.

But I can see the future of DigiByte, I just don't like how the founder, Jared Tate, handles the aggression with the market calling out so many names and the result? they got delisted on Poloniex, such a shame on founder like him. Technically EOS is far better than Bitcoin and Ethereum with a lot of practical usages. Ethereum is if they shift to POS next year would be a challenge for EOS.
I have to agree with this, EOS is way far better from bitcoin but you can't blame on people what they are going to use. People are just being practical on using crypto, the reputable ones gather the most usage.

Hello Honestly I don't think one altcoins could get really close with competing with bitcoins , yes it might be as good as bitcoins or no but one should understand that everything you see out there has been created on the concept of bitcoins and also at the same time , people prefer bitcoins because there are more people and companies willing to accept it , there is more practical usage of bitcoins as compared to anything else. Also it's the most dominant coin out there so chances of it going in profit is more than any other

When it comes to topics like this, the answer always is : If you think xyz currency is better than Bitcoin then use it. Don't create a FUD or propaganda around it. You need the community's support to take the coin to the next level and without the support, your coin is going nowhere. No one forced people to use bitcoin, they just did because it is a standard now.

I definitely agree with you, most of the time we are using what we have been comfortable at and how we feel secure, so it is really don't matter whether there is as good as Bitcoin, we already know it, as there is ETH and XRP which we know that they are more faster in terms of transactions rather than in Bitcoin.

It's not about being comfortable. It's about choosing a stable coin that has mass adaption and wide community support. There are better coins, yes, do they have a future? No. Their development has stopped, market value is dropped and the community has moved on. However, the bitcoin community seems to grow faster on a daily basis when the development is still slow and transactions are still expensive.

Actually it's not about which Cryptocurrency is better. It's obvious that many Cryptocurrencies came after bitcoin which knew what problems it was facing and they obviously tried to solve that problem but this doesn't means people would start using that currency. Bitcoin is popular because it was the first currency in this market. Now obviously with time people could shift them to other platforms but don't expect it to happen over night.

For me, bitcoin was unique when it comes to technology also when you created something like bitcoin this is not automatically you could copy the success like what happened in bitcoin, But it could happen sometimes like what happened to some of the famous alternative tokens examples Ethreum, we could see the success of this token in the market but still cannot replace bitcoin.

This kind of topic is actually very subjective to answer. If someone thinks that this cryptocurrency is better that bitcoin for him, it doesn't mean that everyone can see it also that way. It still depends on each everyone's experience on that coin. Personally, Bitcoin is still the best for me so far. I'm not saying other crypto is not but I'm just satisfied with bitcoin.

There are altcoins that have better features, such as transaction fees, transaction speeds, etc.
However Bitcoin is the face of cryptocurrency and has the advantage of being the first and most well known.

If we are talking about which one better based on the technologies and features it implemented it will be endless. today we got this much scalability the next 6 months we got a new one and if we always move to the newest with obviously better features it will create unnecessary problem. whether you like it or not people will always stick to bitcoin simply because it's already trusted and reliable. no one's going to move to another crypto just because they got much features which usually ended up as nothing more than a gimmick.

When someone think of cryptocurrency then only one thing comes to mind, that is Bitcoin. It was the first adopted currency and no alt can beat that. Digibyte is not completely decentralized, everyone knows its owner and until they are there, its nowhere near to Bitcoin.

when wondering if a crypto is truly useful. you have to ask the real question
how many retailers/stores/shops can i use the currency in after all if you cant buy anything useful with it. its not a useful currency
most cryptos have no retail use. and are just used as a transfer mechanism/payment tool' to move value from one currency to another.
yes profits can be bade on currency exchange. but thats not a true currencies base purpose. if your only concern is profits then your looking at an 'investment' and not a 'useful currency'
many things can claim to have great transaction speeds. but if you cant buy a pizza with it. it doesnt matter how fast you can make a transaction if no pizza i going to be delivered. so a useful crypto has to have a base purpose of an actual function. and not just be a ponzi scheme of investment with no purpose holding the value
a $1k gold coin is not worth $1k purely because its worth $1k. its because its unlikely you will get another coin for less by mining it or buying it. it also has a purpose of being able to be passed around hand to hand and can be melted down and sold to make electronic based products as its a good conductor
of gold could be mined for $1 and didnt have a use in electronics or jewellery. then it would not hold out at $1k. the price would tank
