These are for sale for $100 over spot gold price currently $1575 per coin plus shipping.

It seems like an additional fee of 1% of the total amount is being charged when paying with bitcoin, resulting in~$900 in hidden fees for all these coins. This was not mentioned anywhere in this sales thread. On top of that it doesn’t make any sense to me to charge extra for accepting bitcoin on BITCOINtalk.

Exchange fees to convert to dollars I presume?

I need dollars at the moment not BTC so this sale is priced in dollars.

Not sure where the 1% is coming from but Tim is obligated to pay me spot gold at the time of sale + 100$ in US dollars for each coin sold. That is our contract so he is probably just passing on his cost to you.

This is ridiculous!  Paying a premium to use bitcoin while you are shilling on bitcointalk??  What a joke.  If anything it should be a discount to pay in BTC.  I actually agree with bavi on this.

Guys, I understand the frustration but you are ignoring that this is a transaction that needs to end up in Fiat USD.  Coincube stated that USD was preferred in his first post.

We're using Coinbase to convert from BTC to USD and deposit USD into an account for these sales.  Coinbase charges 1% to do that, at the available account privileges.  We can sell these coins at spot value to bullion dealers at any moment and not pay any exchange fees to get into USD.  My role here is to get coincube MORE than spot, and exchange fees cut into that significantly.

If you're sending me a wire, I won't be paying wire transfer fees either.  There is nothing different here than that.

BTC is fantastic and I love it enough to dedicate a huge portion of my time to it and the crypto community but you and I both know that it costs money to move into and out of a crypto position and pretending to be outraged at that fact is disingenuous.

Hey Bavi, where did the $900 come from?  This doesn't jive with what we disscussed via PM so I'm not following.

If they wanted fiat from the start.... the thread should have never been here in the first place.  I'm NOT pretending to be outraged.... nothing disingenuous here.  I AM outraged that you charge more to pay in BTC on bitcointalk!!  How you get in and out of fiat is your guys problem, not the community's problem.  You guys come here to shill your coins and charge more to use the standard currency here!!  Even more of a joke that you try to defend your actions!

He's obviously posting here because this is the community most interested in physical bitcoin.

I understand completely if you want to use crypto for everything and I totally support you, but to suggest that people using Fiat are unwelcome, and people needing Fiat shouldn't post here, is myopic.

If we want crypto to win, we need to build bridges as opposed to telling people to take their dealings elsewhere, in my opinion.  I say that from the perspective of someone who has personally brought thousands of people into bitcoin/crypto fold, and been involved in the founding of some very successful altcoins.

Why are you on the attack here?

"All told my expense for all of the above after negotiation was $2700."  :O

This whole process could have been done for less than half that....  plenty of people here who are more than qualified to perform most of these services

Perhaps but I did not want to end up with a bunch of ruined scratched up coins cleaned by someone I did not know. Tim was expensive but I knew that was going to be the case upfront. Sometimes you pay for peace of mind.

Best not to clean a coin, leave them (peeled) as is and adding the peeled hologram (public - private key shows authenticity), would have saved some 'cleaning' fee as well.
But what's done is done, I guess...
Still waiting for a reply.

I'm terribly sorry I missed your message in my PMs until recently.  I did reply, so feel free to message me there or email at tim@titanbtc.com

If you are a maker and your main customer base is the BITCOIN community I actually find it ridiculous that you feel its OK to charge more when someone wants to pay in BITCOIN. As anon said, how you get in and out of fiat is NOT the communities issue and as bitcoin users, we shouldn't be expected to foot the bill for it.

I sell for BTC and sometimes I take the loss in fiat value but I certainly dont complain when the big green candles appear and I actually win because I accepted it.

It goes both ways and just because you think the volatility is gonna work against you financially shouldn't mean your customers have to pay the price.....

I asked for payment in USD because that's what we need in this case. The potential buyer said he was unable to pay in that method.  In a private conversation with that potential buyer (that he decided to complain about publicly), I was accommodating him using a another payment method that is not preferred for this particular sale and explaining the extra costs the seller will incur to do so.

This is really not the grand case of anti-bitcoin sentiment that you and Anon are trying to drum up.

I sell for BTC and sometimes I take the loss in fiat value but I certainly dont complain when the big green candles appear and I actually win because I accepted it.

This isn't about exchange rate risk, and I was never the one complaining.  There is a hard cost to get from BTC to USD.

And this is YOUR problem, not the community's problem.... if you wanted fiat.... ebay is always at your disposal.  Listing them here in collectibles means taking BTC and your scam loophole is to post a fiat sale here while still taking BTC, you just charge more to use the local currency.  Total shit IMO!!  Glad I sold all my Titans and I'd never own another one.

Listing them here in collectibles means taking BTC

Is this the community consensus, that only accepting BTC is allowed here?  I've been active for 7 years here and that has never been stated as a rule.  It has also been pretty common for people to accept a variety of payment methods.

In my experience processing sales person to person here, Tons of people in fact strongly PREFER to pay with Fiat because HODL.

I am honestly trying to understand you and why you're so upset.  Is it because you've been told that only BTC is allowed here and that I am not following the rules?

If that's the case, I'm sorry we upset you by accepting dollars.  It absolutely does not reflect on our support for BTC and crypto as a whole.

Thank you for your input.

To clarify for anyone confused about the matter this is a sale of gold for US dollars not gold for BTC. I already have a buyer for this the smelter who is happy to take my gold for dollars.

I am offering these for sale here only because this particular gold has special collectible and historic value to the bitcoin community.  So I am giving the community first shot at these.

If they all sell great many already have. If as will probably be the case some don’t that’s fine too.

Right now just under half have sold so unless there is a substantial uptick in interest in the last two days of this sale I am actually losing a small amount of money bringing this offering for public sale. That is fine. It won’t be much of a loss and I did my best to preserve as many of these as possible.

The price is spot gold + 100$ + shipping in US dollars.  If you pay in something other than dollars the small cost to convert that to US dollars will be added to the price.

Today is the final day of sales for these. If you want one place an order with Tim in the next 24 hours.
These will quickly be going to my secondary buyer after that so I cannot honor later orders.
If you want one and have not purchased this is your final opportunity.

Congratulations to those who have purchased.
I am both sorry to let these go and happy that many of them have found new homes.

I am both sorry to let these go and happy that many of them have found new homes.

Thankyou for bringing them here to give collectors such as myself a chance to acquire these beautiful coins instead of melting them right away.

They have found a safe, permanent home and will be a cherished part of my collection for many years to come.
